Chapter 235

Having a son as accomplished as Nathan Sterling, Eleanor Blackwell couldn't help but feel overshadowed by Rosalind. Meanwhile, Eleanor's entire existence seemed to revolve around Rosalind's whims.

The comment struck a nerve. Rosalind's face darkened instantly, as if someone had plunged a dagger into her heart.

"Well, Vanessa is only staying in Astana temporarily. She'll return eventually," Rosalind muttered defensively before retreating.

Eleanor smirked in triumph before turning her attention to Margaret Winslow.

"Mother, look at this. Harrison Whitmore, CEO of Horizon Technologies. Exceptionally handsome and brilliant. He completely transformed the company's fortunes within months. What an eligible bachelor—"

Margaret frowned and cut her off sharply. "That's enough for now."

Pouting, Eleanor reluctantly conceded. "Very well, Mother."

She then shifted her focus to Rosalind. "Rosalind darling, you must see this! Harrison seems exactly your type."

Rosalind showed zero interest. Her gaze remained fixed on the grand entrance. When Nathan appeared, her dull eyes immediately sparkled with life.

"Mother, excuse me for a moment," she announced before gliding toward Nathan.

"Nathan!"

Spotting Rosalind's approach, Nathan greeted politely, "Ms. Blackwell, what a pleasure."

Though only two months his senior, Rosalind bristled at the formal address.

She playfully scolded, "How many times must I tell you? Drop the 'Ms.' It makes me sound ancient."

Gregory Hammond chuckled nervously. "Ms. Blackwell—I mean Rosalind—you're the picture of youth."

Rosalind shot him a withering glare. "I said don't call me that!"

Gregory recoiled. "Right, right. But we can't simply call you Rosalind, can we?"

Her expression softened slightly as she turned back to Nathan. "Nathan, is it true about your divorce?"

Nathan's eyes darkened, his smile fading. Those who knew him recognized this as dangerous territory.

Gregory hastily intervened. "Rosalind, perhaps this isn't—"

Undeterred, Rosalind continued, "That woman Evelyn was never worthy of you. The divorce was for the best."

Gregory tried again. "Rosalind! Let's not—"

He watched Nathan's expression carefully.

Noticing Nathan's displeasure, Rosalind pouted. "Still pining for her, Nathan?"

Nathan ignored the comment. "Rosalind, today celebrates Grandmother's birthday. Let's focus on her, not my personal affairs."

With that, Nathan turned to leave, Gregory scrambling after him.

Frustration boiled within Rosalind.

She'd only spoken the truth! Evelyn Carter had never been his equal!

At the entrance, Gregory caught up with Nathan, teasing, "What's this? Upset because someone criticized your precious Evelyn?"

Nathan responded with an icy snort, gazing into the distance. He chose silence.
