Chapter 219

"I've completed the investigation."

Harrison stepped out from the shadows and faced Evelyn. "We've reviewed all surveillance footage from the venue and found some leads. However, we only have a clear view of the perpetrator's back."

"What? Someone actually sabotaged it deliberately!" Olivia's voice trembled with anger.

"Can the police identify the person with just their back?" Evelyn asked anxiously.

Harrison placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry. He won't escape justice."

Evelyn finally allowed herself to relax at his words.

"Everyone has worked exceptionally hard these past weeks. I've reserved the VIP lounge at the Sapphire Club. Let's go unwind!"

The staff erupted in cheers at Harrison's announcement.

"Thank you, Ms. Carter!"

"We appreciate it, Mr. Whitmore!"

Meanwhile, Evelyn turned to Julian with a mischievous grin. "You're coming with us."

Julian shrugged nonchalantly. "Fine."

But Evelyn wasn't finished. She immediately dialed Sophia's number.

As predicted, when Sophia heard Julian would be attending, she demanded the address immediately.

An hour later, the group gathered in the most luxurious private suite at Sapphire Club.

Sophia spotted Julian first and approached him confidently. "Long time no see."

Julian offered a polite but distant smile. "Indeed."

A flicker of disappointment crossed Sophia's eyes at his reserved response.

Evelyn intervened smoothly. "Don't just stand there. Come join us." She guided Sophia to sit beside Julian.

"Waiter, bring the champagne!" Olivia called out.

Meanwhile, Natalie browsed the karaoke selections. "Evelyn, what would you like to sing? I'll queue it up."

"Anything is fine," Evelyn replied absently.

Just then, the head waitress entered with a bottle of Dom Pérignon. "Ladies and gentlemen, your champagne has arrived."

That voice—Evelyn froze. It sounded hauntingly familiar.

Her gaze snapped upward, locking eyes with the waitress. The air between them crackled with tension.

Victoria Sinclair never imagined she'd encounter Evelyn Carter like this.

She quickly averted her eyes, pretending not to recognize her. "Please enjoy. Should you require anything, simply ring the service bell."

With that, she practically fled the room, her face ashen.

Outside, a concerned colleague asked, "Victoria, are you alright?"

Victoria waved her off. "I'm fine. Just tired."

The colleague hesitated but eventually walked away.

Victoria's expression darkened as memories flooded back—the scandal that destroyed her reputation, the impossibility of finding decent work in all of Pemberly City.

This menial job at the club had been her last resort.

All thanks to Evelyn Carter.

Victoria knew Evelyn had orchestrated her downfall.

Seeing Evelyn surrounded by admirers while she served drinks was salt in the wound.

Why?

Why did Evelyn thrive while she struggled to survive?

A cold smirk twisted Victoria's lips as a dangerous glint entered her eyes. She stalked away with renewed determination.

"Evelyn, what's caught your attention?" Harrison followed her gaze but only saw a woman's retreating figure.
