Chapter 154
These spoiled heiresses never took anything seriously except their lavish lifestyles.
Their families insisted they learn business management from Evelyn, making her their unexpected role model.
"I must get a selfie with my idol! This will break the internet!" one squealed.
"An autograph first! I'm having it framed in gold for my penthouse," another declared.
"Vanessa, are you coming?"
Vanessa stood frozen, baffled by her friends' sudden worship of Evelyn.
"But she's just-" Her protest died as the group stampeded toward their new obsession.
"Ms. Carter! Photo please?" A manicured hand waved an iPhone.
Evelyn nearly spilled her coffee as the socialites descended upon her.
"I'm flattered, but I don't do photos with strangers," she demurred.
Pouty lips formed exaggerated frowns.
"Just one signature? I'll name my next Birkin after you!"
Evelyn blinked. "I'm not famous enough for autographs."
"You're legendary!"
"Our queen!"
Their shrill voices carried across the restaurant.
Evelyn suppressed an eye roll. Since when had she become their mascot?
Vanessa's stilettos clicked angrily across the marble floor. "Showing off again, Evelyn?" she sneered.
Gasps erupted. "You know Ms. Carter?"
Vanessa smirked. "Know her? She was practically family until my brother dumped her penniless onto the streets."
She waited for the shocked gasps, reveling in her petty victory.
Adrian's chair screeched as he stood. "Did your mother breastfeed you with toilet water? That's the only explanation for that sewage coming from your mouth."
The heiresses dissolved into giggles.
Vanessa's face purpled. "You're just her latest boy toy! How many men has she cycled through by now?"
She was playing with fire.
While violence wasn't the answer, Adrian's clenched fists suggested otherwise.
"Clearly no one taught you basic decency," Evelyn said icily.
Vanessa tossed her hair. "I'm just stating facts. How many beds have you warmed this month?"
The slap echoed like a gunshot.
Vanessa staggered back. "You bitch! I'm not your punching bag!"
Evelyn flexed her fingers. "Actually, you're quite convenient. Since your parents failed, consider this a free etiquette lesson."
