Chapter 123

Isabella had been threatening to call the police, but she never expected them to arrive this quickly!

Evelyn had completely outmaneuvered her with this unexpected move.

"Ahhh! Leave! All of you, get out now!" Isabella clutched her ears and began shrieking, her composure completely shattered.

Nathan's expression darkened as he stepped forward to address the officers.

"She recently suffered a miscarriage and is emotionally fragile right now. I hope you'll understand."

The two officers exchanged glances but maintained their professional demeanor. "We received a report and need to assess the situation."

"My head! It's splitting open! Nathan, the pain is unbearable!" Isabella grabbed Nathan's arm dramatically.

"It feels like my skull is being crushed!"

"I'll call the doctor immediately," Nathan said, pressing the emergency call button.

Isabella was spiraling out of control. "Make them leave! I refuse to give any statements!"

Nathan hesitated before placing a stiff hand on her shoulder in a poor attempt at comfort.

Alistair intervened diplomatically. "Officers, as you can see, she's in no condition to answer questions after losing her child. Perhaps you could return when she's more stable."

Seeing the chaotic scene, the officers reluctantly agreed.

"Very well. We'll follow up later. Other officers are already investigating the reported incident."

"The results should be available soon. We'll return with that information."

"Thank you for your understanding," Alistair said, personally escorting them out.

Once the police left, Isabella shot Evelyn a venomous glare.

Evelyn smirked. "Why stop the performance now?"

"You vicious witch! Karma will destroy you!" Isabella spat with barely contained rage.

Evelyn's smile turned lethal. "The wicked always meet their downfall. The same to you, Ms. Delaney."

"You'll pay for my baby's life, you bitch!" Isabella's voice trembled with hysteria.

Evelyn remained calm. "Then why the theatrics for the police? You can delay, but you can't escape."

Without waiting for a response, Evelyn turned to leave.

Nathan moved to follow, but Isabella clung to his arm desperately. "Don't go!"

His patience was wearing thin. Isabella's earlier dramatics had revealed more truth than she realized.

The only reason he hadn't exposed her was lingering sentiment.

Strangely, despite losing their child, Nathan felt no grief - only an odd sense of relief.

"Isabella, you need rest after your miscarriage. I'll visit later."

"No!" Isabella's grip was surprisingly strong, tears streaming down her face in a calculated display of vulnerability.

Nathan shook her off impatiently and rushed after Evelyn without a backward glance.

Outside, Evelyn was intercepted in the corridor by Alistair.

"Ms. Carter, we need to talk." His tone left no room for refusal.
