Isabella's voice trembled with conviction. "Nathan, I know you might still have feelings for her. Those three years of marriage meant something."
Her hands clenched the hospital sheets. "But she's a monster! She's the one who pushed me. She murdered our unborn child!"
Nathan's expression remained unreadable. "Very well." His voice was ice. "If you insist she pushed you, we'll involve the authorities. Let the police conduct a thorough investigation. The truth will come out."
He turned toward the door, his broad shoulders tense beneath his tailored suit.
The door swung open before he could leave.
Evelyn stood framed in the doorway, arms crossed, her emerald eyes burning with quiet fury.
"Isabella lost control instantly. "Evelyn! How dare you show your face here?" Her scream echoed off the sterile walls.
Evelyn ignored the outburst. "I heard every word." Her gaze locked onto Isabella's. "Ms. Delaney, is this truly what happened?"
"You vicious witch! You killed my baby!" Isabella's face contorted with rage.
Evelyn's eyes darkened like a gathering storm, yet her voice remained measured. "Mind your language, Ms. Delaney. Even children know better than to make baseless accusations."
"I'm telling the truth! It was you! I'll have you arrested! I'll hire the best lawyers and make you pay!" Isabella's shrieks grew more hysterical.
Through the tirade, Evelyn remained perfectly composed. "No need to call the police." She stepped aside gracefully. "Officers? You may come in now."
Two uniformed officers entered the room, their badges glinting under the fluorescent lights.
Isabella's mouth fell open in shock, her face draining of color.
