Chapter 487

Isabella didn't accompany Sophia to the competition in Salzburg on Thursday.

Victoria wasn't upset about it.

She just acted sweetly and made Isabella promise to take her out after the competition ended.

Isabella couldn't resist her pleading and agreed.

Work had overwhelmed Isabella for the past few days.

She hadn't visited Eleanor at the hospital since Tuesday.

On Friday morning, she finally made time to go.

Downstairs, she spotted Victoria walking outside with a bandage on her head.

Victoria was on the phone.

"I'm feeling much better now. Sophia, just focus on your competition. Don't worry about me."

She looked up and saw Isabella.

Victoria immediately averted her gaze with indifference.

She continued her phone conversation.

"You'll call me the moment results are out? Of course I'll be waiting by my phone. I won't miss your call."

"It's almost time for your team gathering. Go meet your coach now. Good luck!"

It wasn't even eight in the morning yet.

Sophia had called Victoria bright and early as usual.

Isabella listened with a calm expression.

She walked past Victoria into the elevator.

Inside the ward, she learned Eleanor had felt stuffy staying indoors.

Eleanor had gone downstairs for a walk too.

Isabella set down the flowers she brought.

She turned to head down to the garden.

There, she saw Eleanor with Victoria and Lilian.

She also spotted Martha, but she wasn't with them.

Apparently, Martha didn't know Victoria was hospitalized.

She hadn't noticed Victoria and Lilian at all.

Victoria and Lilian were very aware of Martha.

They had been watching her.

They saw Isabella arrive.

They immediately pulled back their gazes and walked away.

Isabella approached Martha.

Martha finally noticed her and immediately smiled.

"Isabella, you're here."

"Grandma."

Victoria and Lilian had already walked away.

They saw Martha's smile clearly.

They considered going over to greet her.

But Martha's illness had struck suddenly.

She supposedly couldn't handle shocks.

They decided against approaching.

Since Martha adored Isabella, Lilian didn't dwell on it.

She spoke with a sneer.

"People say Mrs. Whitmore Senior can't control Alexander."

"No matter how much she dotes on that woman, Alexander is still divorcing her."

By the same logic, even if Martha disliked them.

If Alexander insisted on marrying Victoria, Martha couldn't stop him.

Furthermore, Martha had fallen gravely ill this time.

Rumor said if she'd arrived ten minutes later, she wouldn't have made it.

Her condition was severe.

Yet Alexander hadn't called off the divorce for her sake.

Martha hadn't used her illness to force him either.

That showed Martha had accepted the divorce.

She might even be preparing to welcome Victoria into the family.

Lilian spoke again.

"So, don't rush."

After this close call, Victoria realized Alexander cared more than she thought.

That settled her heart somewhat.

She wasn't in such a hurry anymore.

Still, watching Martha dote on Isabella while disliking her felt uncomfortable.

But ultimately, everything between her and Alexander depended on him.

Since Martha couldn't truly stand in their way, why care about her opinion?

With that thought, Victoria stopped caring whether Martha or the family liked her.
