Chapter 398

On Evelyn's birthday, Isabella received a message from Alexander about their divorce proceedings.

How perfectly timed.

Just then, Jonathan continued, "Mr. Whitmore said if you're available Monday morning, he'd like to meet at the courthouse at nine to complete the paperwork. Ms. Sinclair, does that work for you?"

Isabella replied, "Monday morning works fine."

"Excellent," Jonathan said. "I'll inform his attorney."

"Thank you."

Besides Jonathan's call, there were multiple missed calls from Alexander.

Probably calling about the same matter. She saw no reason to return his calls.

She spent the weekend at the Sinclair estate.

Monday morning arrived, and Isabella left the house just after eight.

When she pulled up to the courthouse entrance, Alexander was already waiting.

She hadn't taken their marriage certificate when she moved out. Today, he'd brought both the certificate and divorce papers.

Back when they'd registered their marriage, he hadn't even waited for her afterward—just walked away without glancing at their certificate.

Naturally, she'd been the one to keep it. Had nearly forgotten where she stored it. Yet now, for the divorce, he hadn't needed to ask her—he'd somehow retrieved it himself.

As she approached, Alexander stepped out of his car and extended the divorce agreement. "Want to review it again?"

The marriage certificate in his other hand lay open. Their wedding photo stared back at them.

Apparently, he'd been studying it before her arrival.

Isabella averted her gaze without comment. She took the documents, turned, and returned to her car to examine them.

By the time she finished reviewing, it was nearly nine. Isabella exited her car and walked straight into the courthouse.

Alexander followed close behind.

All required documents were in order. With no disputes, the process proceeded smoothly and quickly.

As they stepped outside, Alexander spoke first. "Once the mandatory waiting period ends, we'll return to finalize everything."

"I'm aware." Without looking at him, Isabella walked past his car to her own.

Alexander said nothing more as he entered his vehicle.

Both cars started almost simultaneously, disappearing from the courthouse in opposite directions.

After leaving, Isabella headed straight to InnovaTech. She and Nathaniel still had that meeting at Whitmore Corporation later.

When she arrived at the office, Nathaniel checked his watch. "You're late. I assumed you weren't coming."

"I was at the courthouse filing for divorce." Her tone remained even.

Nathaniel paused. "It's official then?"

"Not quite. There's still the mandatory waiting period before finalization."

"I see." After a beat, he asked, "Still attending the Whitmore meeting?"

"Absolutely."

Seeing her determination, Nathaniel smiled. "Alright then. Let's go."

Twenty minutes later, Isabella and Nathaniel entered Whitmore Corporation's conference room. Alexander and his team were already waiting.

When they entered, Alexander greeted them politely. "Mr. Graves, Ms. Sinclair. You made it."

Isabella and Nathaniel nodded in acknowledgment before taking their seats.

The meeting commenced promptly.

Isabella remained entirely professional throughout, while Alexander maintained pleasant professionalism with Nathaniel and the others.

The conference room held numerous attendees, but aside from Nathaniel, no one knew that Isabella and Alexander—who appeared to be mere business acquaintances—had, just that morning, stood together in court filing for divorce.
