Chapter 485
Alexander didn't hesitate for even a second.
"Contact them," he commanded. "Tell them we'll meet tomorrow instead."
Benjamin opened his mouth to speak, but stopped when he saw Alexander's gaze had already returned to Victoria.
He simply nodded in acknowledgment.
As Benjamin turned to leave the hospital room to make the call, Alexander suddenly remembered something.
"Have Daniel handle those urgent documents," he added without looking away from Victoria. "I'll contact him about the details later."
"Understood," Benjamin replied.
He stepped outside and followed Alexander's instructions, calling Daniel first.
"Alright, got it," Daniel responded.
But instead of ending the call immediately, he couldn't help adding, "Lately, the boss has been paying more and more attention to Isabella. Today he even... Well, I thought Mr. Whitmore..."
Benjamin knew exactly what Daniel meant.
He'd had the same thought himself.
But now, seeing how concerned Alexander was about Victoria, he realized they'd both been overthinking it.
Perhaps Alexander's attitude toward Isabella had changed somewhat recently.
But the one he truly cared about, the one he truly loved, was still Victoria.
Victoria woke up shortly after 4:30 PM.
Seeing Alexander there, she smiled weakly. "Didn't you say you had a business trip this afternoon? Why..."
Genevieve cut her off before she could finish. "Because he was worried about you, so he postponed until tomorrow."
She smiled knowingly before adding, "And he's been here at the hospital with us this whole time, waiting for you to wake up."
Hearing this, Victoria felt a warm flutter in her chest and smiled.
But she quickly adopted a concerned tone. "I'm fine now, Alexander. You should go handle your work."
"No rush," Alexander replied firmly.
Hearing his insistence on staying with Victoria, Genevieve, Diana, and the others exchanged knowing, teasing smiles.
The test results came back that evening after the doctor reexamined Victoria.
When both families learned she had no serious injuries, they collectively breathed a sigh of relief.
Though her head injury wasn't severe, she still needed to remain hospitalized for observation and rest.
That evening, Oliver came to visit Victoria at the hospital, bringing fresh flowers and fruit after hearing about her accident.
"Julian couldn't get away due to an urgent matter," Oliver explained. "He said he'll visit when he's free. This fruit basket is from him."
Hearing this, the smile in Victoria's eyes faded slightly.
She responded coolly, "Is that so? Thank him for me then."
Her reaction stemmed from knowing Julian was merely keeping up appearances.
Even if he had the time, he wouldn't actually come to see her.
Eleanor and Diana also felt Julian's "urgent matter" was just an excuse.
However, they didn't know Julian had developed feelings for Isabella and had been distancing himself from Victoria because of her.
They still believed his absence was simply to avoid Genevieve.
The next morning, Isabella went to the hospital to visit Eleanor.
Just as she walked out of the parking lot, she spotted Genevieve and Eleanor.
Since Alexander had not only postponed his business trip for Victoria the previous day but had also stayed at the hospital with her for hours, the entire Kensington family was buoyed by his show of devotion.
Seeing Isabella, Genevieve tilted her chin up and gave a cold hum.
She deliberately raised her voice. "Aunt Eleanor, yesterday when Victoria had her accident, Alexander rushed straight to the hospital, postponing his business trip again and again."
"And because he was still worried about her," she continued pointedly, "he even said this morning he had to see her at the hospital before he could feel at ease enough to leave on his trip."
