Chapter 304

Josephine was deep in thought when Alexander arrived. After greeting the Kensington and Holloway families, Victoria introduced her cousin. "This is my Aunt Beatrice's daughter, Josephine Winslow."

Alexander glanced at Josephine, offering a polite smile. "Pleasure to meet you."

Josephine had only seen Alexander in Victoria's social media posts before.

Seeing him in person now, she finally understood Victoria's choice.

Victoria's past suitors had been extraordinary—accomplished, renowned, and impressive. But compared to Alexander? None of them came close in achievements, education, family background, or even looks and demeanor.

She'd thought those men were the pinnacle, but now realized there was always someone better.

And she couldn't deny—Alexander and Victoria made a striking couple.

Yet remembering everything between Alexander and Isabella, Josephine lowered her gaze. "Hello," she murmured quietly.

After the greetings, Alexander took a seat on the sofa.

News of Victoria dating a Salzburg elite—and how his influence helped the Kensingtons enter high society—had spread through their circles in Maplewood since last year.

Coincidentally, some old acquaintances of the Kensingtons from Maplewood visited Beatrice today.

When they first heard about the Kensingtons' sudden social climb, they'd been skeptical.

Though Victoria was exceptional, with many elite suitors over the years, the Kensingtons were only mid-tier wealthy in Maplewood.

For Victoria to marry into Salzburg's upper echelon seemed impossible, let alone reaching its pinnacle.

But seeing their lavish new residence—and meeting Alexander himself—they finally believed it. Staring at Alexander in awe, Victoria said calmly, "They're old family friends."

Alexander nodded, shaking hands with each guest courteously. Once he arrived, everyone moved to the dining room.

Josephine was finishing her master's degree. Beatrice brought her to Salzburg hoping she'd find work here—with Victoria's help in securing a good match.

Alexander had always treated the Kensington and Holloway families well. After dinner, noticing his good mood, Beatrice seized the opportunity.

Josephine didn't actually want to work here or burden anyone. "Really, there's no need—" she began.

Before she could finish, Alexander smiled at her. "It's no trouble." He paused. "Josephine, right? What kind of position are you looking for?"

Josephine hadn't expected such consideration from Alexander. Was it because he loved Victoria enough to care about her relatives too?

During dinner, she'd heard Genevieve mention how Alexander had transferred substantial shares to Victoria after growing jealous of her admirers.

That alone showed his devotion. But she hadn't expected him to extend that courtesy to her—a distant cousin he'd just met.

She'd also heard Alexander and Isabella weren't officially divorced yet. Hearing Genevieve casually call him "brother-in-law" had felt odd. Yet here he was, treating her with such respect.

Flustered—always shy and overshadowed by Victoria—she stammered, struggling for words.

Victoria gently touched Alexander's arm. "Don't intimidate her."

Alexander chuckled. "Alright." To Josephine, he said, "Just let me know when you decide. Consider it done."

Josephine nodded quickly. "Okay."
