Chapter 502

Isabella returned from Edinburgh with two days off.

She spent the first day completely resting.

On the second morning, just after breakfast, her phone rang.

It was Alexander.

She glanced at the screen before answering.

"What is it?"

"Grandmother was discharged from the hospital two days ago. She wants you to come to Whitmore Manor for lunch."

Isabella already knew about Eleanor's discharge.

She had been away on business in Edinburgh and couldn't pick her up personally.

"Understood," she replied.

She was about to hang up when Alexander spoke again.

"I'll come get you now."

"No need, I'll drive myself—"

"Sophia insists on coming with me to pick you up. She's already putting her shoes on."

Isabella paused.

"...Alright."

"We'll be there shortly."

She didn't respond, so Alexander ended the call.

About thirty minutes later, Alexander and Sophia arrived at the Sinclair residence.

The rest of the Sinclair family was out.

When Sophia saw Isabella, she happily jumped out of the car and ran over for a hug.

"Mommy!"

Alexander lowered the window from the driver's seat and turned to look at them.

Once in the car, Sophia clung to Isabella.

She chattered about all the fun things she'd done recently.

She mentioned that the gift she bought was already waiting at Whitmore Manor.

While Isabella talked with Sophia, Alexander focused solely on driving.

When Sophia finished her stories, he glanced back at Isabella.

"Have you been resting these past two days?"

"Yes," she answered.

There wasn't much else to say between them.

So Alexander didn't initiate further conversation during the drive.

Eleanor had always been particularly fond of Isabella.

She was overjoyed to see her arrive at Whitmore Manor.

Seeing how much better Eleanor looked, Isabella felt relieved.

Alexander was quite busy.

While Isabella kept Eleanor company and chatted with her, his phone hardly stopped ringing.

After lunch, Isabella originally planned to stay a bit longer before heading home in the afternoon.

But outside, a heavy downpour began.

It didn't let up for quite some time.

Since Eleanor had only just recovered and was still weak, she went upstairs for her afternoon nap.

Alexander turned to Isabella.

"If you're tired, go upstairs and rest too."

Before she could answer, Sophia tugged her hand and pulled her upstairs.

Instead of going to Alexander's room, Isabella followed Sophia into her room.

When she had cleared out her things from Alexander's house, she had taken almost everything.

But here at Whitmore Manor, she hadn't removed her belongings.

So there were still several sets of her clothes in Sophia's wardrobe.

As Isabella searched for pajamas to change into, there was a knock at the door.

She turned her head.

Before she could speak, Alexander stood at the doorway.

He saw her rifling through Sophia's closet.

Realizing she must be looking for sleepwear, he didn't comment.

His eyes shifted to the bed where Sophia lay.

"Is she asleep?"

He nodded lightly.

"Rest well."

With that, he gently closed the door and walked away.

It had been a long time since Isabella last stayed at Whitmore Manor.

She thought she wouldn't be able to fall asleep.

Yet not long after lying down beside Sophia, she drifted off without realizing.

When she woke, her temples ached slightly from sleeping too long.

Sophia was no longer in the room.

After washing up, she went downstairs.

She didn't see Eleanor or Sophia.

Only Alexander sat in the living room, reading.

He noticed her coming down.

He closed the book in his hand and lifted his gaze to her.

"You're awake."
