Chapter 241
Isabella had just pulled away from the hospital when Margaret suddenly remembered something. Alexander made it to see Eleanor, but what about Sophia? Where was she?
Before Isabella could respond, Margaret's face darkened immediately.
The disapproval was written all over her grandmother's expression - clearly unhappy that Alexander had left Sophia behind while bringing Victoria to visit Eleanor.
"Don't worry," Isabella reassured her. "He'll take care of her."
Margaret wasn't convinced. "If this continues, Bella, take him to court. No matter what, you must get custody of Sophia!"
Isabella hesitated briefly before responding softly, "Okay."
Margaret's displeasure lingered.
They arrived at the Sinclair residence and Margaret exited the car without another word.
Just then, Isabella's phone buzzed.
Sophia was calling, but she let it ring.
Perhaps because she hadn't spent much time with Sophia these past months and had been missing her calls, but recently she could clearly feel her daughter becoming more attached - just like when it had been just the two of them.
The phone rang again.
After a quick glance, she still didn't answer. She simply powered it off and joined her family for dinner.
But as soon as she sat down, the house phone rang.
Isabella knew exactly who it was.
"I'll get it."
She rose before anyone else could react and went to the living room.
As expected, Sophia's cheerful voice came through the line. "Mommy!"
Isabella hummed in response. "Have you eaten yet?"
"No." Sophia sounded dejected. "Are you at Grandma's house? I want to come too. Will you have dinner with me?"
Margaret looked over. "Is that Sophia?"
Isabella sighed inwardly. "Yes."
"Does she want to see you?" Margaret set down her fork and approached. "If she wants to come, call Alexander and have someone bring her. We'll save food for her."
"Alright." Then into the phone, "You can come now."
"Okay!"
Before hanging up, Isabella added, "Make sure you tell your father first."
"Okay."
They wanted to wait for Sophia before continuing dinner, but Isabella insisted they start without her.
About an hour later, Sophia arrived.
She ran straight to Isabella the moment she entered. "Mommy! I'm here!"
Isabella straightened Sophia's dress. "I'll warm up your food."
"Okay!"
Sophia put away her backpack and tablet, following Isabella into the kitchen.
Charles and Caroline had taken William to school while Margaret stayed home.
Watching Sophia shadow Isabella's every move, Margaret smiled warmly and left them to their bonding time.
Isabella told Sophia to wait at the table.
Sophia sat patiently while Isabella reheated the food.
Normally a picky eater who hated leftovers, today Sophia ate everything without complaint.
Between bites, she chatted excitedly. "Mommy, I went out with Mr. Montgomery and Lily today."
