Chapter 475

Two days later, at noon, Isabella and Alexander were heading to the cafeteria for lunch when her phone suddenly rang.

It was a call from Alexander.

Isabella saw the caller ID and hesitated briefly before answering.

"Hello?"

"Grandma's awake."

Joy surged through Isabella's heart.

She responded, "I'll be right there."

"Alright."

After ending the call, she turned to Kieran, who stood waiting beside her.

"Sorry, something urgent came up—I can't join you for lunch."

Kieran glanced at her phone screen, recognizing the importance of the call.

"No problem."

Isabella nodded and hurried away.

When she arrived at the hospital, Alexander, Sophia, Victoria, Catherine, Richard, and others were already gathered.

As she entered, Sophia rushed into her arms.

Alexander also turned to look at her, then redirected his attention to Eleanor.

"Grandma, Isabella is here."

Hearing that Isabella had arrived, Eleanor smiled weakly and tried to focus on the doorway.

Isabella stepped forward and took her hand.

"Grandma."

Eleanor gently patted her hand, attempting to speak, but before any words could form, she slipped back into unconsciousness.

Isabella panicked.

"Grandma—"

Alexander gently placed a hand on her shoulder, offering comfort.

"Grandma just woke up."

"Her condition is still unstable, and she has very little energy."

"The doctor said this is normal—nothing to worry about."

Isabella let out a sigh of relief, though Eleanor's pale complexion made her fear it might be a final rally before the end.

She asked, "What's the current situation...?"

Alexander replied, "Although her condition isn't fully stabilized yet, the doctor believes she will gradually improve."

With those words, the heavy weight on Isabella's heart finally eased.

After a while, to avoid disturbing Eleanor's rest, everyone—including Isabella and Alexander—left the ward.

Most of them, whether Victoria or Alexander, had received the news of Eleanor waking up while on their way to lunch.

None of them had eaten yet.

Richard had been particularly busy with work and had only visited Eleanor twice during her coma.

This time, he had taken extra days off to stay.

Seeing that everyone still hadn't eaten, he said to Isabella, "Since you're here too, why don't we all go eat together?"

Richard had always been occupied with work.

Whether before or after her marriage, Isabella hadn't seen much of him.

But since childhood, he had always treated her kindly.

Faced with his invitation, neither Catherine nor Victoria objected—their silence implying consent.

Over the many years of her marriage to Alexander, Isabella had gone out to eat with the Whitmore family less than three times in total.

Looking back, those occasions felt like they happened ages ago.

Since she and Alexander were already preparing for divorce, she didn't want to intrude on their family gathering.

So she said, "It's okay, I still have work to handle—maybe next time."

Everyone could tell she was politely declining.

Hearing this, Richard paused and glanced at Alexander.

Before Alexander could respond, Sophia lowered her head in disappointment, fiddling with the small plush toy in her arms.

Alexander didn't try to persuade her to stay either—he simply said, "I'll walk you out."

He wasn't just walking her out—he clearly had something to discuss.

Isabella understood and said, "Thank you."

Alexander turned to Sophia and said, "Sophia, go play with your Uncle Henry for a while."

"I'll be back soon."

"Okay," Sophia replied, though her eyes still lingered longingly on Isabella.

Isabella saw the reluctance in her gaze, paused for a moment, and then gently ruffled her hair.

"When I have time, I'll take you out to have fun."

Sophia immediately brightened up and grabbed the hand that had patted her head.

"Okay!"
