Chapter 429

Dominic Fairchild remained by Victoria Kensington's side, his presence unwavering.

Moments later, when Victoria turned to search for Alexander Whitmore, she noticed he was no longer standing with Isabella Sinclair. Instead, Isabella was engaged in conversation with Walter Ashford.

Given their longstanding acquaintance, it was only natural for Dominic and Walter to exchange pleasantries in such a public setting.

"Mr. Ashford, may I introduce—" Dominic began formally.

Walter smiled warmly, interrupting gently. "Ms. Kensington and I are already acquainted."

Victoria offered a polite greeting, her smile perfectly measured.

Walter acknowledged her with a courteous nod before turning his attention back to Isabella. His voice softened noticeably. "Isabella, have you been keeping busy lately?"

Though the summit had concluded, they remained in full view of numerous attendees.

The marked difference in Walter's demeanor between his interactions with Isabella and Victoria spoke volumes.

His fondness for Isabella was unmistakable, displayed without reservation.

"Yes, quite busy," Isabella replied simply.

She couldn't ignore Walter's obvious preference.

Previously, their interactions had been ordinary. But Dominic's sudden appearance reminded her that Walter was Sebastian Ashford's father.

Considering Sebastian's persistent advances, Isabella felt no discomfort around Walter. After all, nothing substantial had transpired between them.

While Walter wasn't overtly cold toward Victoria, the contrast in his treatment was stark.

After their initial exchange, Walter showed no further interest in conversing with Victoria. He made no effort to establish rapport, let alone demonstrate any admiration.

Had he wished to show support, he might have at least acknowledged Innovatech, the company Victoria represented.

Her invitation to this summit should have warranted some recognition.

Noticing this subtle dismissal, Victoria's smile faltered slightly.

Dominic seemed oblivious to Walter's coolness toward Victoria, but he did notice Walter's clear desire to continue speaking with Isabella.

Despite his personal dislike for Isabella, Dominic wouldn't dream of interrupting Walter. After brief pleasantries, he guided Victoria away.

Victoria observed that Dominic's opinion of Isabella remained unchanged.

A thought occurred to her. "It seems both Mr. Ashford and your father hold Ms. Sinclair in high regard," she remarked casually. "Recently, Alexander and I happened upon Ms. Sinclair and Nathaniel Graves playing golf with Mr. Ashford and your father..."

Dominic's eyebrows shot up. "My father and Walter played golf with Isabella and Nathaniel?"

"Yes," Victoria confirmed. "They appeared quite familiar, actually. It didn't seem like their first meeting."

She feigned surprise. "You weren't aware your father knew Ms. Sinclair?"

Dominic frowned, shaking his head. "No, he never mentioned it."

This revelation intrigued Victoria.

During their initial meeting, she'd noticed Richard Fairchild's apparent fondness for Isabella. She'd assumed he would have spoken of her to Dominic, potentially altering Dominic's perception.

But apparently not...

Walter, ever the busy official, soon concluded his conversation with Isabella after a few more minutes. Isabella likewise moved on to other matters.

Later, Isabella seized a quiet moment to slip away from the bustling hall.

Noticing her departure, Julian Montgomery's expression shifted subtly. He turned to Alexander beside him. "Alexander, I have matters to attend to. I'll take my leave now."

Alexander glanced at him. "Not joining me for dinner?"

Julian shook his head. "Another time."

"Very well," Alexander conceded easily. "We'll catch up when you're free."

"Certainly."
