Chapter 316
Jonathan stopped mid-sentence. "You don't want anything? Are you absolutely certain?"
Alexander had been shockingly generous—allocating Isabella an astronomical sum that could sustain her in luxury for decades.
Jonathan couldn't fathom why she'd refuse it.
Isabella's voice was steel. "I'm sure. But I have one condition."
She'd never intended to take his money. Even walking away empty-handed wouldn't leave a single regret.
When Eleanor had fallen ill, Alexander insisted on repaying Isabella for visiting his grandmother.
Besides two billion dollars, he'd transferred three penthouses near Margaret's neighborhood.
Though legally in her name, until the divorce finalized, they remained marital assets.
If she took nothing, she'd lose those properties.
And if she didn't secure them? The Whitmores or Kensingtons would snatch them immediately.
Knowing the Kensingtons, they'd move in just to torment Margaret daily.
Her jaw tightened. "I only want those three penthouses. Not as a gift—I'll buy them."
Her recent earnings made it possible.
Jonathan grasped her reasoning instantly.
It was a terrible deal for her, but her resolve silenced his objections.
Within minutes, he relayed her terms to Alexander's lawyer.
As Isabella headed for dinner, her phone rang.
Alexander's voice was calm. "Have you eaten?"
"No." She cut to the chase. "Your lawyer told you my terms?"
"He did." A pause. "But Grandmother saw the divorce agreement. If you want changes, you'll need to convince her first."
Eleanor would interfere—Isabella had expected this.
Her reply was icy. "Finalize the divorce first. We'll handle the rest later."
A humorless laugh crackled through the line. "You didn't think to consult me before rewriting our agreement?"
"I didn't expect you to care," she shot back.
Silence. Then—
"Meet me at The Grandeur. We'll discuss this properly."
The line went dead before she could refuse.
