Chapter 204

Isabella gave a slight nod. Hmm.

Dominic remained silent.

Nathaniel was clearly trying to make things difficult for Dominic.

Truth be told, neither of them cared about the money.

As business discussions grew serious during dinner, Isabella stayed quiet, only speaking when absolutely necessary.

Most of the time, she simply observed.

Dominic noticed this with some surprise - whenever Isabella did contribute, her insights were remarkably sharp and valuable.

She was far more capable than he'd assumed.

Previously, he'd imagined Isabella as the clingy, desperate one in her relationship with Nathaniel - the inferior party chasing after him.

But watching their dynamic tonight painted a different picture. Perhaps this was exactly how she'd managed to completely captivate Nathaniel.

After all, without genuine substance, how could someone like Nathaniel be so taken with her?

As dinner neared its end, Isabella excused herself to visit the ladies' room.

On her way out, she nearly collided with Alexander emerging from the adjacent restroom.

Alexander saw her but made no move to speak - perhaps uncertain what to say.

Isabella had no intention of conversation either and was about to pass by when she suddenly remembered something and stopped.

"When can we finalize the divorce?"

She knew he was eager to get it done. He'd undoubtedly expedite the process to be rid of her.

Knowing this, she'd never bothered asking before. But now, so much time had passed-

Alexander replied, "It'll take a while longer."

"No specific date?"

"I'll inform you once it's confirmed."

Isabella said nothing more and turned to leave when Alexander suddenly added, "Grandmother knows about the divorce now."

"That's good," Isabella responded.

At least the old woman would stop trying to push them together. And Isabella wouldn't have to keep pretending anymore.

Alexander gave a noncommittal hum.

They walked forward in silence.

Suddenly, someone came barreling around the corner.

Both instinctively stepped aside, but Isabella still got bumped, stumbling backward - right into Alexander.

His hand reflexively steadied her at the waist.

The stranger muttered an apology before disappearing into the restroom.

Before Isabella could even rub her sore shoulder, she tried to pull away from Alexander's hold.

At that exact moment, Dominic appeared around the corner.

Seeing Isabella leaning against Alexander, his hand still on her waist, Dominic froze mid-step. "You two-"

Alexander released her immediately.

Isabella quickly put distance between them, avoiding both men's gazes as she walked away without another word.

Dominic's eyes followed her retreating figure before shifting back to Alexander.

Alexander smiled politely. "Mr. Fairchild, here for the restroom too?"

Dominic answered stiffly, "Yes."

With a slight nod, Alexander turned and left without further comment.

Watching Alexander walk away so casually, Dominic pressed his lips into a thin line. He'd never considered any connection between Isabella and Alexander.

As far as he knew, they'd only crossed paths once at InnovaTech. And even then, they hadn't exchanged a single word.

Which made sense - Isabella was just an engineer at YodaVision, far too junior to interact with someone of Alexander's standing.

Then there was that charity gala.

But Alexander had only sought Isabella out that night because of-

Well, that was different.

Other than that, they shouldn't have had any connection.

Interesting, wasn't it?

So what exactly had he just witnessed?
