Chapter 187

After finalizing the discussion about Victoria's proposal, Isabella turned to Nathaniel. "What about Whitmore Group's offer?"

Nathaniel adjusted his glasses with a faint smile. "Alexander operates in our industry. His technical expertise is unparalleled."

The financial strength of Whitmore Group was undeniable.

Their tech team consisted of the most brilliant minds in the field.

Alexander himself was a recognized authority in the industry.

The proposal he submitted wasn't just impressive—it redefined excellence.

Perhaps that explained his calm demeanor in waiting until now to propose this partnership.

Isabella wasn't surprised by this revelation.

"Make the decision based purely on merit," she advised.

Partnering with an elite team eliminated countless potential headaches.

Whatever history existed between her and Alexander paled in comparison to the project's importance.

Dominic Fairchild arrived at YodaVision that afternoon.

This time, Nathaniel didn't bother meeting him personally.

When Dominic failed to secure an audience, he departed without ceremony.

Then Julian Montgomery arrived.

Both Nathaniel and Isabella went to greet him together.

As they reviewed Julian's revised proposal, their eyes met in silent agreement.

Recognizing their aligned thoughts, Isabella extended her hand. "Let's make this a successful partnership, Mr. Montgomery."

Julian noticed Isabella held final authority at YodaVision. His gaze flickered between her and Nathaniel before shaking both their hands. "Looking forward to it. This collaboration shows great promise."

They immediately delved into contract negotiations.

As twilight approached, they'd nearly finalized initial terms when Isabella's phone rang.

Sophia's name flashed twice consecutively on the screen.

Isabella dismissed both calls, and Sophia didn't attempt a third.

Alexander, however, answered when Sophia called him.

He returned home within thirty minutes.

Sophia lay in bed receiving IV treatment, her complexion pale. Seeing Alexander, she mustered just enough strength to whisper, "Daddy..."

Alexander took a seat beside her. Noticing the sheen of sweat on her forehead, he carefully wiped it with his handkerchief. "Still feeling sick?"

"A little..."

Though the pain remained considerable.

Instead of scolding her for poor dietary choices, Alexander recognized her melancholy. "Should I ask Victoria to visit?" he offered.

Normally she would have agreed instantly.

But this time, Sophia clutched his fingers, shaking her head weakly. "I want Mommy."

Despite her affection for Victoria, when unwell, she instinctively sought her mother's presence.

More than anything, she wanted Isabella by her side now.

"Alright," Alexander agreed.

Letting Sophia hold his hand, he called Isabella with his free one.

Isabella had just concluded contract discussions with Julian and was preparing for dinner.

Seeing Alexander's call after ignoring Sophia's earlier attempts gave her pause before answering. "Yes?"

"Sophia has mild food poisoning," Alexander explained. "She's on IV at home and asking for you."

Isabella's grip tightened on her phone. "Understood. I'm leaving now."

Hanging up, she turned to Julian. "Apologies, an urgent matter requires my attention. We'll reschedule dinner."

Noticing her sudden tension, Julian inquired, "Is Sophia unwell?"

Isabella nodded.

"Serious condition?"

Alexander hadn't elaborated, leaving Isabella uncertain. "She should be stable now."
