Chapter 93

Kenna looked worried, and Flynn tried to reassure her, "Mr. Roberts is probably just wiped out, which is why he's got a headache. Ms. Cavendish is a top-notch doctor; I'm sure everything will be fine."

"I trust Dr. Cavendish, but it's been so long without any news. It's weird,"Kenna said, her concern clear. As a wife, how could she not worry about her husband being alone in a room with a beautiful secretary?

Flynn nodded, "You're right. If Dr. Cavendish had any issues, she should've told us. This silence makes it seem like something's up."

Flynn was deliberately stirring up anxiety, hoping that Kenna would be even more upset when she saw the compromising scene he had set up.

Jonathan, overhearing their conversation, had a hunch about what was going on. He pulled out his phone to message Kathie, but there was no response, which made him uneasy.

Someone as responsible as Kathie shouldn't be gone for so long without any word. Could something have really happened?

Kathie was still in the room, snacking. Hearing some noise, she peeked through the door and saw Flynn leading Kenna and Jonathan towards them, clearly ready to catch someone in the act.

As they reached the door, Kenna took a deep breath and opened it, only to find the room in complete darkness.

Flynn smirked, "Why are the lights off? Could it be they're doing something they don't want us to see?"

Kenna, with a stern face, turned on the lights. Flynn was expecting to see a scandalous scene, but instead, there was only Austin, fully clothed and asleep under the covers.

"What the heck?" Flynn muttered in disbelief.

Jonathan sighed in relief and asked, "MIr. Campbell, what did you expect to see?"

Flynn quickly covered, "I meant, why is Mr. Roberts alone? Where's Dr.Cavendish?"

Kenna was also curious, but just then, Kathie's voice came from the doorway, "Looking for me?"

Everyone turned to see Kathie holding a tray with a bowl of medicinal soup. She explained, "Mr. Roberts had food poisoning. I went to get some herbs to make this remedy. I hope you're not upset, Mrs. Roberts."

Seeing how dedicated Kathie was to taking care of Austin, Kenna felt guilty for her earlier suspicions.

She replied, "Dr. Cavendish, how could I be upset? Thank you so much."

Kathie smiled gently, "Mr. Berkeley instructed me to do my best. Unlike some people who didn't even know Mr. Roberts' allergens, causing his poisoning."

Flynn's face darkened. He had hoped to ruin Kathie's reputation, but instead, she had gained Kenna's favor and put him in a tough spot.

Kenna turned to Flynn, "Mr. Campbell, I remember our secretary specifically told you that Austin is allergic to soy products."

Flynn's face went pale, "I'm well aware. There were no soy products in tonight's dishes."

Kathie interjected, "I'm certain Mr. Roberts' reaction was due to something he ate. If Mrs. Roberts doesn't believe me, I can inspect the food to find the cause."

Flynn gritted his teeth. He hadn't expected Kathie to be so capable.

He couldn't let her investigate, so he lied, "It must've been a mistake by the kitchen staff. I'll go check it out. You stay here and take care of Mr.Roberts."

Jonathan added, "Mr. Campbell, make sure to investigate thoroughly. We can't have this happen again."

Seeing Kenna's displeased expression, Flynn knew he was in trouble.

"I'll give you a satisfactory explanation, Mrs. Roberts," Flynn said before leaving with Eleanor, his face livid.

Kathie brought the medicine to Austin, removed the silver needles from his head, and he groggily woke up, not remembering what had happened.

"Honey, why are you all here? Did something happen?"

Kenna sighed in relief, "You had an allergic reaction. Dr. Cavendish has been treating you."

Kathie handed him the medicine, "Mr. Roberts, drink this and get some rest. You'll feel better in the morning."

After drinking the mnedicine, Austin felt a bit better and said, "Even a trace of soy products gives me a headache. This allergy has troubled me for over twenty years."

Kathie checked his pulse, "Mr. Roberts, I can cure your allergy."

Austin and Kenna looked at her in disbelief. Austin asked, "You can cure it? We've tried treatments in several countries. Doctors were hopeful at first, but nothing worked."

Kathie confidently replied, "I saved MIr. Berkeley when he was at death's door. An allergy is nothing in comparison. I'm certain I can cure you."

Jonathan, knowing Kathie's abilities, said, "If she says she can do it. there's no doubt."

Austin was amazed. "Mr. Berkeley, if she can cure my allergy, our cooperation is guaranteed."

Jonathan smiled, "Then it's settled. Get some rest, and we'll leave you to it."Kathie nodded and wheeled Jonathan out.

In the hallway, Jonathan's expression turned serious, "Tell me,what really happened?"

Kathie sighed, "I almost lost my virtue. Luckily, I reacted in time.Otherwise, you would have found me and Mr. Roberts in a compromising position."

Jonathan's face darkened as he gripped the wheelchair. Kathie looked at him curiously, but he pulled her into his arms.

He inhaled her unique scent, feeling a surge of emotion. "What do you mean by that? Were you two in bed together? Did he touch you?"

Kathie pushed him away, "Calm down and let me explain. When I took Mr. Roberts back, someone had placed an aphrodisiac incense in his room, trying to make us... you know."

Jonathan's eyes narrowed. No wonder Flynn had said those things;he had expected to find them in bed.

Kathie continued, "I realized what was happening and used silver needles to block his acupoints, then detoxified myself and hid to observe. Shortly after, you all arrived."

Jonathan felt a chill at the thought. Flynn had used such despicable means against Kathie. He said coldly,′′I′V've heard that aphrodisiac incense is

potent. Once affected, there's no escape."

Kathie waved it off. "It is strong, but he's not you. Even dazed, I knew what was happening."

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. a slight smile on his lips. "So, if it were me.you wouldn't be able to resist and would...?"

Kathie fell silent.

Even in such a situation, he could say something so shameless.
