Chapter 94
Jonathan immediately regretted his words when he saw her getting angry.
He quickly said. "I was just making a comparison, no big deal. You haven't given me my treatment today. Let's head back to the hotel."
Kathie noticed he was getting bolder, saying whatever popped into his head in front of her.
She couldn't let him get too comfortable, or he'd walk all over her in the future.
"Yeah, it's time for your treatment."
Jonathan had a bad feeling about this. Her tone didn't sound promising.
Back at the hotel, Kathie took a black pill from her bag, placed it in a bowl, and dissolved it in hot water. The strong medicinal smell quickly filled the room.
Jonathan was all too familiar with it; it was the medicine Kathie usually made him drink.
He thought he could escape it for a few days since they left in a hurry yesterday. How did she manage to bring the pills?
"Dr. Cavendish, where did you get this pill?"
Kathie pointed to the ceiling, and Jonathan was puzzled. "It fell from the sky,"she said.
Jonathan fell silent.
She was definitely angry. He needed to find a way to appease her.
"When we get back, I'll buy you a car. It'll be easier for you to get to work
and pick up the kids."
"No need!"
"The Cavendish Mansion is a bit far from the school. I'll buy a house near the school so the kids can get to and from school more conveniently."
"Not necessary!"
When she turned down his gifts, it was a clear indication that trouble was brewing.
Jonathan saw her také out acupuncture needles and swrallowed nervously."
Dr. Cavendish, you wouldn't take personal revenge, would you?"
"Of course I would. It's not the first time. What, are you scared now? I thought you were invincible, that nothing in the world could restrain you."
Jonathan gave an awkward smile. "I was just joking before. I was worried about your safety."
To others,Jonathan was always seen as a reserved man, never getting close to women, let alone flirting with them.
But with Kathie,he couldn't control himself.
Now he had made her angry, and he was going to pay for it.
Kathie added some powder to the bowl and handed it to him with a mischievous smile. "Mr. Berkeley, don't worry. I'm not that petty. This is your medicine for today. Drink it quickly, and then I'll give you acupuncture."
Jonathan felt a bit scared by her tone.
"What did you just add? It's not poison, is it?"
"I'm not that stupid. Poisoning is illegal, and I still have kids to raise."
Jonathan took the bowl and drank it under her urging gaze. It was the most bitter medicine he had ever tasted, almost numbing his senses.
Kathie kindly handed him a glass of water, which he drank quickly, but it didn't help much.
"What did you make me drink?"
Kathie smiled. "Don't worry. It's just a concentrated Artemisia powder I developed recently. It's a hundred times more potent than the original.I was thinking of testing it, and today was the perfect opportunity. For the next week, everything you eat will taste bitter. This is your punishment for talking nonsense."
She was so petty. He had only said a few words, and she punished him like this.
Seeing her smug look, Jonathan's heart hardened. He pulled her close and kissed her.
Kathie widened her eyes, but before she could react, Jonathan had pried her mouth open, his tongue invading hers, spreading the bitter taste.
Kathie squinted, trying to push him away, but the strength difference between men and women was too great. Jonathan held her on his lap, kissing her fiercely, transferring all the bitter medicine into her mouth.
"So bitter, Jonathan, you jerk!"
As Kathie opened her mouth, Jonathan took the opportunity to suck on her tongue, making her taste the bitterness.
'Kathie's initial resistance gave way to a hesitant response as his tender kisses sent a wave of warmth through her.
As Kathie melted into his kiss, Jonathan gently pulled her onto his lap.Their gazes locked briefly, and without speaking, they kissed once more.
Kathie was fully conscious now, Jonathan's large hand slipping under her shirt, caressing her smooth back.
Kathie's eyes were hazy, completely under his control.
Jonathan unclasped her bra, quickly cupping her firm breasts, kneading them. Seeing her lost in pleasure, Jonathan lifted her arms. "Dr. Cavendish, you're not drunk now. See clearly what I'm doing. Don't deny it later."
As he finished speaking, he buried his head in her neck, kissing down to her chest, then biting her supple breast.
Kathie's heart skipped a beat, snapping back to reality. She pushed him away and stood up, quickly fixing her disheveled clothes, her face full of tension and embarrassment.
She wasn't uasually this impulsive. Why did she always lose control around Jonathan, her heart racing uncontrollably?
"You agreed to date me last night. We're just doing what, couples do. You don't need to feel burdened."
"I didn't agree," Kathie denied.
Jonathan's face darkened. "Do you really not remember, or are you pretending? Is it so hard to admit you love me?"
Kathie, flustered, quickly changed the subject. "Lie down. I'll give you acupuncture."
Jonathan frowned. She was more honest when drunk. When sober, she wasn't as cute.
He lay down angrily, and Kathie sighed. "Take off your pants."
Jonathan grumbled, "You usually do it."
Kathie gritted her teeth. Fine, she'd do it. She had ignited his desire and then avoided it, leaving him in discomfort.
Kathie removed his pants, blushing at the sight of his erection pressing against his underwear.
"Put your pajama pants on."
"Dr. Cavendish, you're so strange. Before we had sex, you didn't say anything when I was naked. Why are you shy now?"
Kathie tried to stay calm. "Isn't the medicine bitter enough?"
Jonathan teased, "You know how bitter it is. You had quite a bit yourself."
Kathie blushed. "If you keep provoking me, don't blame me if I miss a needle."
Jonathan was unfazed. "You said you wouldn't miss even with your eyes closed, unless you did it on purpose. Besides, if you mess up, I'll just stay with you for life."
Kathie wavered. Did he really want to spend his life with her?
He didn't mind her three kids now, but if they were together, they'd likely have their own children. Would he still love her kids then?
Kathie couldn't even be sure herself. How could she rely on someone else?
Seeing her lost in thought, Jonathan encouraged her. "I hope you can be honest with your feelings. Don't overthink it. Life is short. Why make it so hard for yourself? I've faced death once. Now I just want to cherish the present."
Kathie's eyes sparkled. Jonathan looked at her seriously. "I truly like you."
