Chapter 92
Flynn poured a glass of wine for Kathie, saying. "Ms. Cavendish, I'm really sorry about what happened today. It was totally my fault you ended up in the water. I'll drink three glasses as a penalty and hope you can forgive me."
Flynn downed three glasses in quick succession. Even though Kathie didn't want to forgive him, she had to play nice with Austin around.
Kathie replied. "It was just an accident. No hard feelings, Flynn."
Kathie picked up her glass to drink, but Jonathan gently stopped her."If you can't handle alcohol, don't push it."
Kathie smiled, her eyes sparkling. "It's just one glass. I'll be fine."
"Better safe than sorry," Jonathan said, worried she might not be feeling well after the fall.
Flynn jumped in, "Jonathan, what's that supposed to mean? Are you still mad at me? Or do you think three glasses aren't enough? I can drink two more if that'll help."
He pretended to be hurt and poured himself more wine.
Kenna added, "Mr. Berkeley, Mr. Campbell picked this place today to accommodate my condition. Please cut him some slack."
Jonathan let go of Kathie's hand, and she said, "Mrs. Roberts, Mr.Berkeleyis not mad at Flynn. He's just worried about my health and doesn't want me to drink."
Kenna looked concerned. "Kathie, are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine now. Let's use this glass of wine to put today's mess behind us,"
Flynn smiled, satisfied. "Ms. Cavendish, you're a straight shooter. Let's keep drinking."
Flynn enthusiastically introduced the evening's special dishes and had even prepared a special meal for KKenna, who was pregnant. It was clear that Kenna and her husband appreciated the gesture.
Kathie had expected Flynn to keep pushing drinks on them, but he didn't.Instead, he politely encouraged them to enjoy the food.
Kathie exchanged a glance with Jonathan, puzzled by Flynn's behavior.Sometimes, the most dangerous people were those who hid their true intentions.
Just when Kathie thought the dinner was about to end, Austin suddenly clutched his head in pain.
"Sweetheart, what's wrong?" Kenna asked, concerned.
Flynn also looked worried. "Mr. Roberts, you okay?"
Austin rubbed his temples. "I don't know. I suddenly have a headache."
Kenna held his hand. "Let me help you back to the room to rest."
Flynn stood up. "Mrs. Roberts, don't worry. Ms. Cavendish knows medicine. Let her help Mr. Roberts with some acupuncture. I also prepared a medicinal meal that's good for your baby."
Hearing that it was beneficial for the baby, Austin held Kenna's hand."Sweetheart, don't worry. Ms. Cavendish can help me."
As a doctor, Kathie didn't think twice.
She looked at Jonathan, who seemed worried. She smiled reassuringly. "It's okay. I'll help Mr. Roberts and be back soon."
Jonathan frowned but saw how unwell Austin looked and nodded. They couldn't ignore someone in need after making such a big deal about it earlier.
Kathie helped Austin back to his room, noticing a peculiar scent she had never smelled before. It was strange, but she focused on checking Austin's pulse and found he had food poisoning.
This was odd. They had all eaten the same food. How could he be poisoned?
Unless he had an allergy that caused a reaction when combined with something he ate.
But Flynn was so careful. He wouldn't make such a mistake, especially not with Austin. It must be a coincidence.
Kathie took out her acupuncture needles and treated him. After five minutes,Austin's condition improved. Seeing him calm down, Kathie sighed in relief. "Austin, how do you feel now?"
Austin loosened his tie, breathing heavily. "I feel hot and my chest is tight."
Hearing this, Kathie also felt hot and her chest tight. Could she have caught something from him?
Kathie unbuttoned his shirt to help him breathe, but he suddenly grabbed her waist and pulled her close. "Sweetheart, you smell so good."
He leaned in to kiss her. Kathie tried to push him away but found herself weak.
What was happening? She felt dizzy and saw Jonathan instead of Austin holding her.
"Seven, are you trying to mess around again?"Kathie said.
Realizing something was wrong, she shook her head hard, and Austin reappeared.
"Sweetheart, I want you." Austin's eyes were filled with desire, and he tried to undress her.
This was terrifying. Kathie struggled to break free and fell to the floor, her legs weak.
She noticed the incense on the table, realizing it was causing hallucinations.
Who would be so malicious to put this in his room? This wasn't for Austin and Kenna to spice things up. It was a trap for her.
Kathie said ina a panic, "Mr. Roberts, stay calm. There's something wrong with the incense."
Austin's face was flushed, his eyes dazed. He couldn't control himself.
Kathie's heart raced as she saw Austin turn into Jonathan again, igniting a fire inside her.
Austin crawled towards her, making seductive sounds. "Sweetheart, I want to kiss you. Come here."
Kathie couldn't resist raising her hand. As they were about to touch, she quickly used her needle to stab Austin's neck.
"Sorry!" She then used another needle to make him pass out.
Next, Kathie used the needles on herself, calming her body down.
No wonder Flynn insisted she bring Austin back. He was setting her up.
If she had slept with Austin, Kenna would hate Jonathan, and they would never work together again.
Flynn would get rid of her and achieve his goal.
Kathie struggled to get Austin onto the bed. She knew Flynn would soon bring Kenna to catch them. She had to leave quickly.
Kathie opened the door and slipped into the room across the hall.
At the dining table. Flynn checked the time and pretended to be puzzled."It's been twenty minutes. Why haven't Mr. Roberts and Ms. Cavendish returned? Could it be serious?"
He didn't imply they were having an affair, avoiding suspicion by focusing on Austin's health.
Hearing this, Kenna stood up, worried. "I'll go check on themn."
Flynn smiled. "We'll go with you. If there's a problem, we can help."
Jonathan sensed something was off. Flynn was up to something. He quickly had Dennis push him along.
