Chapter 90

Jonathan cleared his throat to get her attention. "Kathie, don't get too lost in the view. Remember, we're here to impress the clients."

Kathie nodded. "I knoww, that's why I backed you up earlier."

Jonathan could be such a stickler. With such beautíful scenery right in front of them, why not enjoy it?

Flynn had rented a small boat that could only fit two people. He was at the front with Eleanor, Austin and his wife were in the middle, and Dennis helped Jonathan onto the boat, leaving him to wait on the shore.

Dennis said. "Mr. Berkeley, be careful!"

Jonathan nodded. "Stay on standby."

Kathie found the boat's paddles fascinating. Ever since she had her three kids. she had been so busy that she never had time for herself.

Seeing her so happy, Jonathan sighed. "Since we're here, enjoy yourself. If you like these flowers, you can take some home."

Kathie beamed. "I'll bring some back for my three little ones."

"They've all set off. Let's get ready."

Kathie happily started paddling, and Jonathan handed her a water lily.

Kathie looked at him in surprise. "Is this for me?"

Jonathan frowned. "Of course. It's just the two of us on this boat."

Kathie brought the flower to her nose and inhaled deeply. "It smells wonderful. It's been so long since I've smelled something so natural."

Jonathan watched her, the water lily in her hand making her look even more beautiful. Her beauty outshines the blossoms.

Feeling Jonathan's intense gaze. Kathie turned around slowly, her heart pounding.

The boat drifted into the pond, surrounded by lilies, making it feel like they were the only two people in the world.

"Kathie, I'mn giving you three seconds to prepare. I'm going to kiss you."

Kathie's heart skipped a beat. The next second, Jonathan cupped her face and kissed her. His tongue parted her lips, touching her soft tongue, bringing back memories from the night before.

Kathie tried to pull away, but he held her neck, preventing her escape.

Jonathan deepened the kiss until Kathie was breathless.

Looking at her flushed cheeks, Jonathan licked his lips meaningfully."Sweet."

KKathie blushed even more, grabbing the paddle to hide her embarrassment.

"Let's get going. We don't know where they went."

Jonathan could tell she didn't mind, maybe even enjoyed it, but she was too stubborn to admit it.

He was determined to make her say it out loud.

Kathie noticed something was wrong with the boat. No matter how they paddled, the boat kept veering off course, leading them into the densest part of the lilies.

Kathie decided to change tactics. "Maybe our technique is off. I'll paddle first, then you follow with more force,"

Jonathan, unfamiliar with boating, followed her lead.

But no matter how hard they tried, the boat just spun in circles.

Something was definitely wrong.

"This boat has a problem."

Jonathan frowned. "It seems like they left us behind on purpose."

Kathie inspected the boat and found it was taking on water. The seat she was on felt loose. "This boat is faulty. We need to get back immediately."

Jonathan pulled out his phone to call Dennis, but Kathie's seat suddenly gave way, and she fell into the water with a splash.

The pond was deep, and Kathie couldn't swim. She flailed desperately."Help! I can't swim..."

Jonathan shouted towards the shore. "Someone fell in! We need help!"

Dennis heard the commotion and ran towards them. "Mr. Berkeley, Ms.Cavendish, where are you?"

Kathie was coughing uncontrollably after choking on water. "Help..."

Jonathan raised his hand. "We're over here! Hurry!"

Flynn and the others turned around at the sound of the cries for help.

Flynn feigned surprise. "What's going on? Who fell in?"

Austin and his wife turned back, realizing Jonathan wasn't wvith them.Kenna said worriedly, "It sounds like Mr. Berkeley. Could Ms. Cavendish have fallen in?"

Austin nodded. "It seems so." He waved to the people on shore, signaling them to help.

Flynn called out insincerely,"Are there any rescue personnel? Someone get in the water!"

He had already sent the rescue team away. Jonathan, with his injured leg, couldn't swim. Once Kathie was out of the picture, their plan would go smoothly.

Dennis and the rescue team jumped into the water, but the dense lilies slowed them down.

Seeing Kathie sinking, Jonathan couldn't wait any longer. He jumped in,using all his strength to push her back onto the boat, leaving himself hanging onto the side.

Kathie gasped for air, coughing as she regained her senses. Seeing Jonathan half-submerged, she reached out to pull him up, but he stopped her."Don't move. This boat is unstable. If you shake it, it'll fall apart."

Kathie was worried. "But your leg is injured."

Thinking about how he had risked everything to save her and now gave her the only safe spot, Kathie's heart melted.

No one had ever treated her so well, giving her the best of everything.

Jonathan laughed heartily. "It's fine. You're a great doctor. You can just treat me again."

Kathie's nose tingled. "How can you joke ata time like this?"

Jonathan shook the water from his forehead, his hair clinging to his chiseled features, water streaming down his body, making him look irresistibly attractive.

They locked eyes, sharing a moment only they understood.

Dennis said."Mr. Berkoleu Me. Carendish we're herel"

Jonathan called out. "Over here!"

Dennis and the rescue team arrived, quickly pulling Jonathan onto the boat and covering them with blankets as they headed back to shore.

Flynn's boat returned as well. Seeing Kathie safe, he narrowed his eyes. How was she still alive?

Jonathan glared at Flynn. "Mr. Campbell, I'd like to know why our boat had such issues. If I couldn't swim, Kathie would have drowned."

Flynn was puzzled. Wasn't Jonathan supposed to be unable to stand? How did he manage to save her?

Feigning innocence, Flynn said, "Mr. Berkeley, I have no idea how this happened. The boats were chosen randomly. It must have been due to old age. Don't blame me."

Jonathan gritted his teeth. "I'll get to the bottom of this. For now, I need to take Kathie to change. We'll be back later."

Kenna nodded worriedly. "Go ahead. If you feel unwell, go to the hospital.Ms. Cavendish must be okay. We'll wait for you."

Jonathan shot Flynn a warning look as he led Kathie away. If anything happened to her. Flynn would pay.
