Chapter 89
Kathie looked at the three innocent little faces and felt her heart melt. "Kyle is the best-behaved, and my Zachary and Eileen are good too."
Eileen asked curiously, "Mommy, Seven said he got scratched by a stray cat. Did you see it?"
Zachary chimed in, "What kind of wild cat is so fierce? Seven has a wound on his leg. You need to take good care of him."
Kyle nodded,"Mommy, make sure to close the doors and windows so that stray cat doesn't come in."
Kathie was silent.
Great, now she was the stray cat.
She shot Jonathan a glare. He raised an eyebrow and shrugged, as if it had nothing to do with him.
"Okay, Mommy will make sure to close the doors so the wild cat can't come in. If I see it next time. I'll chase it away."
Eileen shook her head, "No, Mommy, stray cats have lives too. We need to be kind to them."
Kathie bit her lip, not wanting to spend the whole morning talking about stray cats. "Aren't you guys about to go to school? Do you have everything you need?1 The three kids nodded in unison and showed her their backpacks. "Don't -worry, Mommy. We have everything. Ben will check our stufagain." Kathie smiled and gave them a thumbs-up."My three little ones are the best. When Mommy comes back. I'll bring you gifts."
Eileen's eyes welled up with tears. "Mommy, come back soon. I miss you."
Kathie blew a kiss. "Mommy misses you too. We'll be back as soon as we're done. Be good and go to school."
The three kids waved obediently. "Goodbye, Mommy."
Kathie hung up the phone and glared at Jonathan."What was that about telling them you got scratched by a stray cat?"
Jonathan pointed to the red marks on his neck. the scratches on his chest.and a very noticeable bite mark.
"I don't get it either. Why did you bite me last night? Did I excite you that much?"
Kathie screamed loudly, starling Jonathan, who widened his eyes.
She blushed. "Just don't mention it again. If I hear about it one more time.I'll stick you with a needle."
Kathie stormed out of the room.leaving Jonathan speechless.
Kathie really didn't know what was good for her, dismissing him like that and even threatening him to keep quiet.
So many women wanted his attention, and he never gave them a second glance. But she chose to run away.
Kathie quickly locked herself in her room, feeling her heart about to jump out of her chest.
She didn't remember much of what they said last night, but the wild scenes on the bed were still vivid in her mind.
Thinking about the marks all over Jonathan's body. she pulled at her hair, feeling like she was going crazy. How could she do such things to him?How would they face each other in the future?
Calm down!
Calm down!
After all, she was drunk. She could just pretend to forget. She didn't want to get involved with the wealthy families. nordid she want people to say he was a fool for being with a divorced woman with children of unknown
parentage.
Kathie took a bath to refresh herself. She was about to take a nap when Austin called. His wife. Kenna, wanted to invite them to dinner.
Kathie put on a sharp little suit, adding a scart to cover the marks on her neck.
She knocked on Jonathan's door. Dennis was helping him get dressed.
Their eyes met, and it felt like their gazes had changed. Kathie quickly looked away.
"Ms. Cavendish, could you help Mr. Berkeley with his tie? I can't seem to get it right."
Kathie cleared her throat. "He doesn't need a tie."
She really didn't want to get close to Jonathan right now.
Jonathan's deep voice cut through the tension, "I don't mind, but I wonder what people will think when they see the marks on my neck?"
Kathie glanced over. His first button was undone, revealing two hickeys.
Dennis turned his head to stifle a laugh. Jonathan and Kathie had really
gone wild.
Kathie gritted her teeth. glared at him, and grabbed the tie, tying it tightly on purpose. Jonathan didn't get angry; he just stared at her intently. "You smell nice."
"Stop talking."
"Whatever you say."
Jonathan was in a great mood after their night together.
Kenna, who had just recovered, didn't like noise, so Flynn had booked the entire restaurant. When Jonathan and the others arrived, they were chatting and laughing in the garden.
Flynn gave Jonathan a disdainful look, but his face wore a fake smile."Mr.Berkeley,you're here."
Jonathan nodded. "Mr. Campbell, youpicked a beautiful place."
Flynn replied, "It's all for Mrs. Roberts. This place is far from the city's hustle and bustle and has many interesting activities."
Kenna looked at Kathie and waved gently. "Ms. Cavendish, thank you so much for your help yesterday. I'm feeling much better now."
Kathie smiled. "No need to thank me, Mrs. Roberts. You should still rest for the next couple of days. I'll give you some herbal medicine to help you relax and recover."
Kenna was grateful. "Thank you, Ms. Cavendish. I didn't expect you to be so skilled in medicine, even though you're just a secretary."
.Austin also praised her. "We were planning to go back, but thanks to Ms.
Cavendish,my wife is safe and sound. I owe you."
Kathie nodded. "No need to thank me. Mr. Roberts. It was all Mr. Berkeley's arrangement. He knew Mrs. Roberts was pregnant and worried about her traveling. He knew I had medical skills, so he arranged for me to be here just in case."
Austin gave Jonathan a grateful look. "Mr. Berkeley, you're very thoughtful.11
Jonathan hadn't expected Kathie to give himn the credit, but it helped him out.
He smiled slightly. "It was the right thing to do."
Flynn gritted his teeth. He hadn't expected Jonathan, who was in a wheelchair,to be so capable. He had quickly won over Kenna, and Kathie, his secretary, was also very impressive. He needed to find a way to get rid of her.
Flynn quickly interjected, "There's a large pond of water lilies ahead. The scenery is beautiful. I've booked three small boats for us to enjoy the view."
Kenna was very interested. "On the way here, I saw water lilies everywhere.
They're so beautifu1. We don't get to see so many in our country. This is a dream come true. Mr. Campbell, you thought of everything."
Flynn beamed. "We live ín a noisy city. It's good to return to nature and relax, especially for a pregnant woman."
Austin was also pleased. "Mr, Campbell, you've arranged everything perfectly. My wife loves this."
Flynn looked at Jonathan, a smile playing on his lips. "I always take good care of my guests. Let's go. The weather is perfect."
Kenna looked excited. It was clear she was very happy.
Jonathan frowned slightly. Flynn was doing a good job of pleasing Austin.Right now, they were both equally important to Austin. Jonathan needed to find a way to win him over and not let Flynn get ahead.
Kathie pushed the wheelchair, admiring the vibrant water lilies and the many vintage buildings. It was no wonder Kenna loved it; even she was enchanted.
