Chapter 88

The next morning, Kathie woke up feeling like she'd just run a marathon.Every muscle in her body screamed in protest.

Groggily, she opened her eyes and immediatey felt a weight on her stomach. Out of habit, she reached out to grab it, mumbling to herself,"Which little rascal put their foot on Mommy's tummy?"

When her hand grasped a large hand instead, Kathie froze. She quickly realized something was off-there was someone else beside her.

Instantly wide awake, she carefully turned her head. Seeing Jonathan's handsome face, her mind went blank.

After a few seconds, fragmented memories began to resurface. In those fleeting glimpses, she saw herself and Jonathan, their bodies tangled in a heated kiss, their faces unmistakable.

Kathie's mind buzzed. What had she done?

A drunken mistake?

She had slept with Jonathan!

Jonathan's lips curled into a smile as he opened his eyes. Kathie quickly pulled the covers over her head.

"Dr.Cavendish,you were so passionate last night. Why so shy now?”

Realizing they were both naked. Kathie clutched the blanket tightly and moved to the side. "What passion? I don't know what you're talking about.

Jonathan smirked."Are you trying to play dumb? People always say men are the ones who shirk responsibility after sleeping with someone. I didin't expect Dr.Cavendish to be that kind of woman. You were dlearly enioving

it last night, and now you're pretending it didn't happen."

Kathie lunged forward to cover his mouth. "Don't say such things. I was drunk last night and not in my right mind."

Jonathan stared at her intently. "And then?"

Kathie gritted her teeth, her mind in turmoil. "We're both adults. You didn't lose out either. Let's just pretend it never happened and not mention it to anyone."

Jonathan fell silent.

So she had forgotten everything they talked about last night.

Facing his reproachful gaze, Kathie felt guilty and looked away.She wanted to slap herself. Although she had been somewhat attracted to Jonathan and had thought about sleeping with him, she shouldn't have actually done it.

Jonathan sighed. "I never thought I'd be the one getting played."

Kathie, flustered, jumped up, causing the blanket to slip of and reveal her naked body. She quickly grabbed the blanket to cover herself.

She screamed. "Don't look!"

Jonathan's sharp eyes had already noticed the red marks on her chest.He had left quite a few marks on her last night.

He hadn't had a drop of alcohol, so he remembered every moment vividly.

Kathie took a deep breath to stay calm. The deed was done. and she needed to find a way to resolve it.

"You were at fault too. You knew I was drunk. If I did something irrational you should have stopped me."

Jonathan, feigning innocence, said, "How could I stop you? I'm injured,my leg can't move, my arm can't lift. You pinned me down and took control.I almost screamed my lungs out."

Kathie bared her teeth.

She didn't believe a word of it!

Could she really pin Jonathan down?

He was lying through his teeth.

"What about Dennis?You could have called him to pull me away."

"He wasn't feeling well either. I told him to rest. What, am I not enough for you? Do you need both of us?"

Kathie gritted her teeth,trying to stay calm. "What's done is done. Tell me what you want."

Jonathan grinned mischievously. "Last night, you agreed to be my girlfriend. I want you to keep your promise."

Kathie looked up in disbelief. "No way. I would never agree to that."

Jonathan's face turned cold. "Do you really not remember, or are you just messing with me? Did you forget everything we talked about last night?"

Seeing him getting angry. Kathie spoke seriously."I really don't remember.You know I don't drink. Isn't this taking advantage of me?"

Jonathan rubbed his forehead. Now it seemed like it was his fault.

"If that's how you feel, then let's do as you said. Pretend it never happened."

Kathie felt uneasy. This was the first time she had encountered such a

situation and didn't know what to do.

She lifted the blanket to get out of bed, but her phone suddenly rang with a video call request. Startled, she quickly tríed to turn it off but accidentally answered it.

As the video connected, she threw the phone away and hid under the covers. The phone landed in Jonathan's hand.

"Mommy,where's Mommy?"

"Hey, isn't that Seven?"

"Good morning. Seven. Why do you have Mommy's phone?"

Kyle asked curiously, "Seven, why aren't you wearing any clothes? And what's with the red marks on your neck and body? Are you hurt?"

Jonathan looked down. There were still bite marks from Kathie on his chest.

He hadn't expected Kathie to be so wild during sex.

Jonathan put on a robe, needing to maintain his image in front of the kids.

"I ran into a wild little cat last night. It scratched and bit me all over."

Eileen looked worried. "That wild cat is so bad. Did you catch it?"

Jonathan glanced at Kathie hiding under the covers. "No, the wild cat ran away quickly. I couldn't catch it,"

Kathie pinched his thigh, making Jonathan wince.

How dare he call her a wild cat? He must have a death wish.

"Are you okay? You look like you're in pain."

Jonathan gritted his teeth and replied. "I'm fine. The wild cat heard us talking about it and came back to scratch me again. Next time I catch it,T'Il teach it a lesson."

Zachary said, "If we were there,we could help you catch the wild cat."

Kyle looked around the room. "Why can't we see Mommy? Isn't she with you?"

Kathie quickly got dressed and signaled Jonathan to keep quiet in front of the kids.

Jonathan gave a mischievous smile. Kathie picked up a silver needle to threaten him, and he cleared his throat to speak properly.

"Your mommy is in the next room. She helped me with acupuncture last night and left her phone here. I'll call her."

Jonathan pretended to call out to Kathie.

Kathie quickly washed up and covered her neck before coming out.

She knocked on the door, pretending to enter. "Are you kids there?"

Jonathan gave her a thumbs up. Kathie's acting skills could win an award.

Kathie took the phone, and the kids cheered.

"Mommy,Mommy!"

"Mommy, I miss you. When are you coming back?"

"Mommy, we miss you. Come back soon."

Seeing her kids, Kathie's bad mood vanished.

"Mommy misses you too. Once I finish things here, I'll come back. Be good and listen to Ben. Kyle vouethe1-

siblings."

Kyle nodded obediently. "Don't worry, Mommy. I'll take good care of them.
