Chapter 57

Kathie was genuinely excited. She'd always dreamed of exchanging knowledge with top doctors from around the world and honing her medical skills.

Bradley continued. "I can set it up for you. If you pass on this, you'll definitely regret it."

Bradley was offering her such a golden opportunity. She'd be crazy not to take it.

Kathie picked up her juice. "Bradley, I'm in. Thanks for giving me this chance."

Bradley smiled and clinked his glass with hers. "That's the spirit. I can't wait to see what you achieve."

Just then. Kathie's phone rang. Seeing it was Jonathan, she gave Bradley an apologetic smile and turned to answer it quietly. "Hey, what's up?"

Jonathan, hearing her hushed tone, asked irritably, "Why are you whispering? What are you up to?"

Did he blow a fuse? Why was he so aggressive?

"I'm at a restaurant. It's crowded, and I don't want to disturb anyone."

Jonathan listened carefully and indeed heard background noise, which made him relax a bit.

"Do you know what time it is? Why aren't you back yet?"

"Mr. Berkeley, do I need you to manage my time?"

"Don't forget, I paid you, You're supposed to take care of me." "You're in recovery. As long as you take your meds on time, you'll be fine.If you think I'm not doing a good job, didn't your girlfriend bring in some caregivers? Have them do it."

Jonathan caught onto something. "Are you jealous?"

Kathie replied, "I'm having dinner with Bradley. I'm not jealous."

Jonathan frowned. They were having dinner together?

"Tll pay you extra. Come back and take care of me right now," Jonathan said.

"By the way, I've already sent them all away. They won't bother you anymore. I'll give you an extra million dollars. You love money so much, don't you? Hurry back," he added.

Kathie laughed coldly. Did he think money could get him anything he wanted?

Kathie stillfirmly refused.

Jonathan tried another tactic. "I promised the kids we'd pickthem up from school together this morning. Are you going to make me break my promise?" He just wanted to get Kathie back.

"Don't worry, I'Il explain it to them." Kathie hung up the phone.,

Jonathan was furious.

Kathie was increasingly disregarding him. Not only did she refuse his request, but she also dared to hang up on him.

Jonathan seemed to forget that Kathie had never really cared about him.She wasn't one of those women trying to climb the social ladder by getting close to him. Why should she try to please him? She saved him out of her duty as a doctor, not because she wanted anything from him. Kathie turned back and gave an embarrassed smile. "Sorry about that. He's just a handful."

Bradley, ever the gentleman, didn't pry further seeing her discomfort.

At the entrance of Elite Tots Academy, many parents were already waiting.

Kathie arrived a bit late today and couldn't stand at the front. She craned her neck to look inside.

Kyle was the first to spot her and waved. "Mommy, we're here."

Eileen bounced up and down, her sweet voice calling out, "Mommy,I'm here."

Zachary held Eileen's hand, keeping Bob at bay.

Kathie noticed Bob trying to get close to Eileen several times, ónly to be blocked by Kyle and Zachary. Deciding to have them study together was definitely the right choice.

Eileen was adorable and lively, always the darling wherever she went.Without Kyle and Zachary's protection, Kathie worried someone might take her away.

Kathie gathered her three little ones into the car and noticed the Berkeley family's nanny picking up Bob. It seemed Shirley and Randy were at the hospital with Kaitlyn.

Eileen asked sadly, "Mommy, didn't Seven say he'd pick us up? Why didn't he come? I wanted to show him the medal my teacher gave me."

Zachary also held a medal. "I wanted to show Seven too."

.Kathie ruffled their hair. "Mommy had a surgery this afternoon and couldn't make it back in time. Next time, I'll bring him to pick you up." This was true. By the time Jonathan called her, she couldn't make it back to pick him up.

Kyle nodded. "Mommy, you work so hard and still pick us up."

Kathie gently cupped his face. "Seeing you all makes me happy. It's not hard at all. Is Bob still bothering Eileen?"

Zachary made a face. "He cried in class today because he wanted to sit with Eileen. The teacher moved him to the back so he wouldn't disturb the other kids."

Kathie sighed. It was a cruel twist of fate that they ended up in the same class.

"Just remember, as long as he doesn't cause trouble, you can coexist peacefully," Kathie said.

Kyle added, "If he does cause trouble, we'll handle it."

Kathie nodded. "That's my boy."

Back home, Eileen was always the first to rush inside, as if something precious awaited her.

"Seven, we're back!" Eileen called out.

Jonathan opened his arms to catch her, holding the adorable Eileen close.Seeing Kathie follow, his eyes showed a hint of displeasure, but he still smiled at the kids.

"Eileen, were you happy at school today?" Jonathan asked.

Eileen nodded sweetly. "Yes. I even got a medal."

Jonathan praised, "Good girl! You are amazing!" Zachary held out his fists playfully. "Seven, guess what's in my hands."

Jonathan saw the edge of a medal peeking through Zachary's fingers but played along. "Is it candy?"

Zachary laughed. "No,guess again."

Jonathan pretended to guess wrong.′′Iit a rock?"

Zachary laughed even harder, while Kathie watched, amused but silent.

"Seven, you're so silly. You can't guess it."

Jonathan pulled him close. "Oh, I know. It's a medal too."

Zachary proudly showed his medal. "You got it! I have two medals, more than Eileen."

Jonathan asked seriously, "How did you get more than Eileen?"

Zachary explained, "A gril cried in class, and I comforted her and helped pick up her things. The teacher said I was helpful and gave me a medal."

Jonathan gave him a thumbs up. "You're a true gentleman.Well done."

He then looked at Kyle, who stood with his arms crossed, not interested in showing off any medals.

"Kyle, what about you?"Jonathan asked.

Kyle shrugged. "I don't care about those things. They're for kids."

Jonathan saw a bit of his owna stubbornness in Kyle and couldn't help but pinch his cheek. "Kyle, you should try to join in. You'll find more joy that way,"

Kyle scoffed. "I think they're childish." Jonathan asked seriously, "Be honest, do you really not like medals?"

Kyle frowned. Even the most prideful child likes recognition. He was no different; he just didn't show it like Zachary and Eileen.

Jonathan said, "At home, you're the most responsible, always looking after Zachary and Eileen. You deserve a medal."

Kyle's eyes lit up, and he smiled. "Really?"

Jonathan saw his joy, knowing he was just like his mom, pretending not to care but secretly loving it.

"Of course! I'll make you one right now," Jonathan replied.

Jonathan gathered materials and made a medal for Kyle, who happily placed it on his bedside table.
