Chapter 55

When Randy arrived, the paramedics were already there, checking on Kaitlyn's condition, which was still critical.

Shirley grabbed Kathie, who was about to leave. "Doctor, she caused the patient to faint. but she also treated her. We can't just let her go."

Randy's face was full of anger. "Kathie, I never thought you could be so cruel. Even if you hate us, you shouldn't take it out on an elderly person."

Kathie rolled her eyes. "Shut up. Saving her is more important. I'll go with you."

Kaitlyn's condition was indeed dangerous. If Kathie hadn't performed acupuncture on her earlier, Kaitlyn might have already died. She wasn't sure if the hospital could arrange surgery in time.

Kathie got into the ambulance, monitoring Kaitlyn's condition the entire way.

Although she didn't want to talk to Randy, she needed to understand Kaitlyn's situation, so she asked, "Send me Ms. Foster's medical records."

Randy looked at her, puzzled. Kathie continued, "If there are no electronic records, just tell me about her condition in detail, including any medications she's allergic to."

Seeing his hesitation, Kathie snapped, "Do you really want her to die?Speak up!"

Randy finally told her that Kaitlyn had cardiovascular disease and chronic pneumonia, and she was very weak, always on medication.

No wonder,Kathie had noticed this during her examination.

At Hospital, in the emergency department. Kaitlyn was taken to the examination room, where the deputy director personally attended to her. He regretfully said. "The patient's condition is very bad. She needs surgery immediately, but our director is out of town.and the two cardiologists are in surgery, which won't be done for at least three hours. The other one is on a business trip and won't be back until tomorrow."

Randy panicked. "What about transferring her to another hospital right now?"

The deputy director shook his head. "It's too late. If someone hadn't treated her before she got here, she would have already died."

Randy stepped back, helpless. "What should we do? Am I just supposed to watch her die?"

Shirley angrily grabbed Kathie's clothes. "Kathie, did you hear that? It's all your fault. If anything happens to her, I won't let you off!"

Kathie pushed her away. "Get lost. Stop yelling in my face."

Randy, seemingly unable to understand the doctor's words, glared at Kathie with hatred. "If anything happens to my mom, I won't forgive you."

Kathie couldn't be bothered to even roll her eyes at Randy. She ignored him completely.

The deputy director issued a critical condition notice. "The patient is in respiratory failure. If we don't operate immediately, she won't make it."

Randy pleaded, "Doctor, please think of something. I can't lose my mother.I'll pay whatever it takes."

The deputy director explained helplessly, "It's not about money. In her condition, there's nothing we can do." Shirley, hoping for the worst, pretended to be concerned. "Doctor, there must be a way. Please don't give up on her. She can't die."

The deputy director shook his head. Kathie hesitated for a moment. As a doctor, she couldn't just stand by and do nothing. She stepped forward."Let me perform the surgery."

Shirley was stunned. "Kathie, I know you have some medical knowledge, but this is a major surgery that requires an expert. Who do you think you are to say you can operate on Mom?"

Kathie ignored her and looked at Randy. "You're the guardian. If you sign the consent form, I can operate. There's no time to waste."

As a doctor, Kathie couldn't bear to see a life slip away in front of her.

Randy hesitated. "Can you really handle such a major surgery?"

Kathie reminded him, "Don't forget, I wasa medical exchange student back in the day. I have more awards than I can fit in a cabinet."

Randy remembered that she was indeed very talented, once hailed as a genius in the medical field.

"Are you sure you can do it?" he asked.

"Randy, you need to understand that nothing is ever 100% certain. But if you keep hesitating, she will definitely die."

Randy nodded. "Okay, I'll sign."

Shirley wanted to stop him but then thought that if Kaitlyn died in surgery.it would be Kathie's fault, which wasn't a bad outcome for her.

She said deliberately, "Kathie, we're trusting you to operate on Mom. Don't use this as an opportunity for revenge." Kathie snapped."All you do is stir up trouble and twist facts. You're useless."

Shirleygritted her teeth. This damn Kathie, even now, she was belittling her.

She thought. Just wait. If Kaitlyn dies, Kathie will be finished too.'

Kathie called the deputy director aside. "Please notify Mr. Watson and have him assist me. Just mention my name, Kathie, and he'll understand."

The deputy director nodded and went to make the call.

Kathie also called Bradley Brooks. This kind of surgery required two people, and he was the best choice.

Bradley rushed over as soon as he got the call, and Randy saw Clayton arriving by helicopter.

Shirley was dumbfounded. What kind of connections did Kathie have to get these two big names here with just a phone call?

She jealously started spreading rumors. "Randy, did you see that? Kathie has some serious connections. She got Bradley and the hospital director here with just a call. Bradley is now the director of Starlight General Hospital, a highly sought-after single man. Getting him to treat someone is harder than climbing a mountain. Clearly, he and Kathie have a special relationship,"

Randy had taken Kaitlyn to Starlight General Hospital before, only to be turned away by Bradley. Now, Kathie had called him, and he came right away.

He had begged the deputy director for help to no av ail, but Kathie got results with just one call. What else was Kathie hiding from him?

"Bradley. the surgery is ready. You and Mr. Watson assíst me," Kathie said.

Clayton was thrilled. He had always wanted to work with Kathie and finally had the chance. "It would be my honor. Let's begin," he said.

Kathie took the lead, using acupuncture to stabilize Kaitlyn's blood flow, combining shamanic practices and modern medicine to ensure her safety.

After four hours of surgery, they finally saved Kaitlyn.

Outside, Randy waited anxiously, while Shirley worried that Kaitlyn might survive.

When the surgery light went off, they rushed forward.

"Kathie, how's my mom?" Randy asked.

Kathie nodded. "She's out of danger. We just need to monitor her closely."

Randy, still worried, turned to Clayton. "Mr. Watson, thank you for saving my mother. Is she really out of danger?"

Clayton felt awkward. He had only assisted, while Kathie did al the work. But he had promised not to reveal her identity,so he took the credit.

Clayton smiled. "The patient is indeed safe, and even her other ailments have been treated."

Shirley's face turned pale. How could this be? Not only did Kaitlyn survive, but her other illnesses were cured too. Now she'd have to endure Kaitlyn's oppression for many more years.

Randy, incredulous, shook Clayton's hand. "Mr. Watson, your medical skills are amazing. My mother has suffered for years, and I never thought

she'd be cured.

Clayton frowned. "Actually, it was all..."

"Mr. Watson, it's an honor to learn from you today." Kathie interrupted.preventing him from revealing her identity.
