Chapter 33

Shirley was so furious that she slapped her son, Bob.

She had been waiting with high hopes for her son to come out, only to hear from the teacher that he had shown no respect. When the teacher asked him a question, he cursed, and when the teacher reprimanded him,he hit back.

"Bob, you little brat! I worked so hard to get you this interview,and you dare to curse at the teacher?" Shirley was livid.

Bob started crying and fighting back. "Mommy, you're mean! You hit me too."

Randy grabbed his hand and smacked it hard. "I told you to behave on the way here. Look, the school doesn't want you here anymore."

He then turned to Shirley. "This is all your faualt. You spoil him rotten, no matter the situation."

"How is this my fault? You never discipline him. Now that there's a problem, it's suddenly my fault? You're always thinking about that tramp,Kathie, and ignoring your own child,"Shirley retorted.

Bob, angry, broke free from his parents and ran across the street,making them chase after him.

Kathie and Melinda exchanged looks and shook their heads. It was sad to see Bob in such a family.

"Mommy, let's go home. Seven is still waiting for us."

The three kids wanted to share the good news with him "You all really care about him," Kathie replied.

"Of course. Seven is part of our family."

Melinda teased, "The kids like him so much. You should just get together and form a new family."

Kathie laughed and cried at the same time. Nothing had happened between her and him yet.

In the hospital in Eldoria, Melissa was feeding water to a patient who had just woken up. It was Raymond Barnes, the stroke patient Kathie had treated the day before.

"Raymond, howv are you feeling now?" Melissa asked.

Raymond took a sip of water and nodded weakly.

"Much better. I thought I was a goner this time. Thank goodness for the miracle doctor who saved me. Once I recover, I must thank her properly."

"I asked around, but Clayton wouldn't reveal any information about the doctor."

"No worries, I'll finda way to locate my savior. Why are you wearing a mask?"

Melissa covered her eyes and started crying, "Raymond, I've been bullied."

Raymond was her godbrother in Eldoria. She had managed to establish herself there thanks to his support, and they had an improper relationship in private.

Melissa had come to him with a purpose.

"Who dared to bully you? Tell me what happened." "It was Kathie. She investigated me and gave Walter a video of me cheating with another man. I was almost beaten to death. I'm worried she'Il find out about us, and then we'll be in trouble."

Raymond gritted his teeth in anger. "She's just a powerless woman,and she dares to cause trouble."

"Raymond, we can't let her find out about us. If she tells Walter, and he gets suspicious, we won't get the shares."

Melissa wanted someone to get rid of Kathie, and Raymond was the perfect person for the job.

"I'll handle it."

Melissa's eyes gleamed with malice. She was determined to get rid of Kathie. If Kathie didn't want a divorce, she'd make Randy a widower.

In the suburbs of Eldoria, it started to drizzle again at night.

The weather was getting cooler, and the three kids were already lying in their mommy's bed.

Kathie was about to get into bed with a storybook when Jonathan knocked on the door.

"What are you doing here?" Kathie puzzled.

Jonathan smiled warmly. "My room is leaking. How about I squeeze in with you all tonight?"

Kathie rolled her eyes and refused. "You're addicted to this, aren't you?There's no thunder tonight; we don't need you."

.Jonathan confidently replied, "The kids need me."

Kathie laughed coldly. "That's impossible. They wouldn't..." "Seven, come on in. We were just about to call you," Eileen interrupted,always the first to support him.

Kyle chimed in, "I haven't seen Seven all day. I kind of miss him."

Zachary nodded. "Seven's story last night was so good. We've heard the ones in Mommy's book a million times."

Kathie was silent.

These three little ones were really good at undermining her.

She retorted, "Mommy can find new stories on the tablet for you."

Eileen said, "But I likeSeven's voice. It makes me feel safe."

Kathie looked at Kyle and Zachary, who both nodded in agreement. As their mommy, she felt like someone had stolen her kids'love.

Jonathan immediately added, "My blankets are all wet. It's not good for my health."

Kathie saw it was getting late and didn't want to make a fuss.

"Fine, but you sleep on the outer edge of the bed like last night," she said.

Jonathan smirked, "If I don't sleep on the outer edge, do you want me to sleep next to you?"

Eileen made room. "Seven can sleep next to my mommy."

Kathie pulled her into a hug and pinched her cute little face. "That's not for you to worry about. Just go to sleep."

Jonathan lay down and chatted with the kids for a while. Only when Kathie urged him did he start telling a story.

He had spent the whole day alone at home and had never felt so bored. Seeing them made him genuinely happy, so he found an excuse to sleep with them.The kids fell asleep listening to the story, and Kathie also started to drift off.

In the middle of the night. Kathie woke up needing to use the bathroom.She groggily got out of bed, forgetting there was someone next to her, and ended up falling on top of Jonathan.

Kathie was instantly wide awake. She tried to get up, but Jonathan held her.

"Dr. Cavendish, you're quite bold. Are you trying to do something while I'm asleep?" he teased.

Kathie blushed and her heart raced. She struggled. "Let go of me. I just forgot you were here."

If she hadn't moved, it would have been fine. But as she twisted,her soft breasts rubbed against his chest, causing Jonathan to get an erection.

He was a normal man, and with a beautiful woman in such closeproximity,it was only natural for him to feel aroused.

"Keep it down. Don't wake the kids. If they see us like this, it'll be hard to explain," he said softly.

Jonathan's deep, magnetic voice had a seductive quality in the dark,making her heart flutter.

In the faint moonlight, they looked at each other, and for a moment, it felt familiar.

If only she were the woman from back then, he would have wanted to experience making love with her again. If only hewere the man from back then, Kathie could be with him without any reservations.

But there were no "ifs."

Kathie felt his hard erection against her thigh, and his hand on her waist started to wander.

Her face turned red. She couldn't let him tease her.

"You're shameless. If you don't want to lose your manhood forever,I suggest you behave. Otherwise, I can perform surgery on you tonight," she warned.

Jonathan reluctantly let go, lazily saying, "Dr. Cavendish, no need to get angry. I never said I was going to do anything to you. You were the one who climbed on top of me."

Kathie quickly got off the bed and whispered in his ear, "I told you, I fell by accident, not to seduce you."

Jonathan covered his ears. "I don't believe you. Women always say one thing and mean another. You deliberately aroused me and thencalled me shameless."

Kathie was speechless with anger, thinking, 'He's so shameless!'
