Chapter 14

Kyle shook his head. "Your hairstyle looks terrible. He's probably just making stuff up 'cause he doesn't know how to do it."

Eileen pouted, refusing to listen.

Zachary turned on the TV. "If you don't believe me, watch how they do it on TV."

As soon as the TV turned on, there was a sudden crackling sound from above, followed by the smell of something burning.

Eileen saw smoke coming from the plug, with faint sparks, and panicked. "

It looks like it's on fire! Seven, come quick!"

Jonathan rushed out at the sound of her voice. He heard a sound and all the appliances went off, but the smoke was getting thicker. This was a sign of an impending fire; the power needed to be cut off immediately.

"The wiring's burnt. Where's the main switch?" he asked.

The three kids looked bewildered, running around the room in a panic.

Jonathan raised his hand to calm them. "Don't worry. Think about where your switches are, or if your mom told you not to touch certain places."

In this old house, worn-out wiring was a common issue. If not dealt with promptly, it could lead to a fire.

Kyle remembered something and pointed to a cabinet in the corner of the living room. "I saw Mommy turn on the light over there before and told us not to touch it." Jonathan wheeled over quickly and found the main switch. HIe bent down, despite the discomfort, and turned it off. "It's okay now. The power's off.We just need to replace the wiring to get the electricity back."

Jonathan checked the house inside and out. Several wires and the meter were burnt. If they hadn't caught it in time, the consequences would have been dire.

To avoid any further risks, Jonathan took the kids outside to the yard, so they could escape quickly if needed.

"Seven, it's a good thing you were here today. You were actually useful,"Kyle admitted.

Zachary agreed. "I'll never say you can't do anything again. Thank you."

This incident had brought them closer together.

"We live together, so we should look out for each other. Now, call your mom and ask her to get an electrician. Otherwise, we'll be in the dark tonight." Jonathan replied.

Kyle took out his phone and called Kathie, who answered immediately.

"Kyle, do you miss Mommy?" Kathie asked gently.

"Mommy, the wiring at home burnt out. It almost caught fire."

Kathie's heart skipped a beat. "Are you all okay?"

"Don't worry, Mommy. We'refine. Seven turned off the main switch in time. He said you should call an electrician."

Kathie felt relieved. She hadn't expected him to be so helpful. It he hadn't

been there, she couldn't imagine what might have hannened "Got it. Listen to Seven's instructions. I'll be home soon." Kathie then called an electrician and hurried home.

The old house hadn't been lived in for over a decade. When she moved in.she only had it cleaned and forgot to have the wiring checked. If this had happened at night, it could have been dangerous.

When Kathie got home, the electrician was already working, and Jonathan was waiting in the yard with the kids.

"Mommy's back!" Kyle ran up and hugged her.

Kathie's worry faded as she saw her children's smiling faces.

After comforting the kids, she walked over to Jonathan, remembering how dismissive she had been that morning. Now, he had been a huge help.

"Seven, thank you for today." Kathie said appreciatively.

Jonathan smiled. "No big deal."

Eileen tugged at her mom's hand. "Mommy, Seven's clothes are all dirty. You should help him change."

Seeing the dirt on his clothes, Kathie realizedI he must have gotten it while checking the wiring.

"You kids play in the yard. I'll help him change," Kathie said.

Kathie wheeled him inside and found clean pajamas, placing them on the bed.

Jonathan said, "I'm itchy from the dirt. I'd like to take a shower first."

Kathie warned, "You can shower, but don't pull any stunts like last night." Jonathan teased, "If you're worried, you can help me."

"In your dreams!"

"I hurt my hand checking the wiring. I can't move it well."

Reluctantly, Kathie agreed to help him this time, considering he had taken care of the kids.

She filled the bathtub and adjusted the temperature before wheeling him in.

"Can you undress yourself?" Kathie asked.

"It's hard. My hand won't bend."

Kathie sighed and helped him undress. "Did you do Eileen's hair? If she went out like that, she'd be embarrassed for life."

She had, almost laughed when she saw her daughter's hair earlier, knowing exactly who had done it.

Jonathan felt helpless. "That's the best I could do. I spent over two hours on it. Don't be so critical."

At least he had been patient.

Kathie said, "It wasn't bad, but don't do it again."

Jonathan fell silent.

She was crushing his confidence again.

Kathie helped him take off his pants, instinctively turning her head. Her hand accidentally brushed against his penis, and she quickly pulled back as if shocked. "Dr. Cavendish, isn't this sexual harassment?" Jonathan teased.

Kathie blushed. "What are you talking about?"

"You touched me while I couldn't move," Jonathan said seriously.

Kathie gritted her teeth. "I'm a doctor taking care of a patient. Any contact is within normal bounds."

Jonathan teased, "So,you often touch men at work?"

Kathie was furious and didn't want to argue. She yanked off his pantsand prepared to help himinto the tub.

But she slipped, and with Jonathan's weight, they both fell into the tub, splashing water everywhere.

Kathie choked on some water. When she looked up, Jonathan's'head had tilted down, and his lips were on hers.

For a moment, they stared at each other.

Jonathan had never been this close to a woman before. The feeling was incredible. That night, he had been drugged and didn't feel.much.

"Ah! Mommy and Seven are taking a bath and kissing!" Eileen's scream snapped Kathie back to reality. She pushed Jonathan away and climbed out.

Jonathan looked at her, still wanting more. "Dr. Cavendish, I don't mind if you touch me."

Kathie thought, "That's so shameless!I didn't mean to touch him at all, it was purely an accident! "You wash yourself. I'm going to change." Kathie said awkwardly.

Kathie then left, her face red, feeling her heart race. The places he had touched felt warm.

What was happening to her? Was she really craving a man because it had been so long?

She needed to calm down. She had to find out who the kids' father was first.

Inside,Eileen was vividly describing what she had seen. "It's true!Mommy and Seven were taking a bath and kissing!"

Kyle thought for a moment. "Is Mommy trying to find us a dad?"

Zachary agreed. "I saw on TV that girls marry guys to repay them. Maybe Mommy wants to marry Seven because he helped us today?"
