Chapter 13

Kathie used to do whatever he said, even giving him shares, which let

Walter control seventy percent of the company and do whatever he wanted.

"So what? I'm your dad. You really gonna kick me out?" Walter couldn't believe she had the nerve.

Kathie nodded. "Yep. that's exactly what I'm doing. I don't want Mom looking down from heaven and seeing you jerks living in her house.Except for Grandma and the housekeeper, everyone else needs to be out today. If not, don't blame me for what happens next."

Walter was shaking with anger. "You ungrateful brat, are you rebelling?"

Kathie laughed coldly. "Yeah. I am. What are you gonna do about it? I've already warned you. If you don't leave, I'll use force. It'll be all over the news. or I'll call thecops. Let's see how shameless you can be then."

Melissa, not wanting to give up such a nice mansion, tried to sweet-talk her. "Kathie, we're family. We can't let outsiders laugh at us. If you need money, just say the word, and I'll give it to you."

"Family? When you were hitting and yelling at me, you didn't say that. I'll be back tomorrow at this time. If you're still here, you'll face the consequences." Kathie's words were firm, leaving no room for negotiation.

Ophelia stayed quiet, feeling proud to see KKathie standing up for herself.

Kathie turned to Ophelia and smiled. "Grandma, you can stay here. I'll move in with the kids soon, and we won't be separated anymore." If Walter and Melissa hadn't pushed too far. Kathie wouldn't have taken back the villa so soon. But since they wanted to kick her grandmother out, they had to go first.

"Alright. Kathie. I will wait for you to come home," Ophelia said.

After giving instructions to the housekeeper, Kathie left, leaving the others fuming.

Shirley grabbed Randy's hand. "Why aren't you going after her? We finally got her here. You have to find a way to divorce her."

Randy's feelings had changed. He had never seen such a confident and strong woman. Kathie's bold demeanor was very attractive.

"Shirley, you owe me an explanation for what happened back then. You lied to me," he said coldly.

"I was drunk and confused at the time. I didn't know what I was doing. You shouldn't be focusing on that now. You should be thinking about giving our child a proper status," Shirley quickly explained.

She used their child to shut him up.

Randy frowned. The child's issue was indeed more important."T'll figure something out."

Melissa stomped her foot in anger, clinging to Walter's arm and crying. "Honey, what do we do? That bitch Kathie wants to kick us out. Are we really going to give her this house? I don't agree."

"Yeah, Dad, isn't there anything we can do?" Shirley naturally didn't want to leave. Walter had a headache and turned to his silent mother, Ophelia. "Mom,Kathie listens to you the most. Maybe you could..."

"Shut up. I don't want to hear you speak right now. This is all your own doing." Ophelia cut him off immediately and turned to go upstairs. She only listened to Kathie now and acted as if she didn't have this ungrateful son.

With the only person who could help gone, Melissa said viciously, "Kathie is useless. We can't count on her. We should have sent her back long ago.Honey, we're not leaving. I don't believe Kathie really dares to kick us out."

Walter glared at her. "The Hughes family is still involved with the company. If things get messy now, it won't be good for me.We have other properties. We'll just move there."

He felt a pang of guilt. He had followed Melissa's advice to harm his ex-wife,thinking he could keep everything for himself. But he hadn't expected to lose even the child.

Seeing Kathie's strong stance earlier, if the truth came out, his fate would be grim, and the Hughes family wouldn't let him off.

In the afternoon, at the suburban estate.

Eileen, just waking up, grabbed a comb and hair tie and went to Jonathan's room, calling him in her sweet childlike voice, "Mr. Handsome,my hair's a mess. Can you help me comb it?"

In the morning, the three kids had prepared a simple lunch. Even though it was just bread and eggs, Jonathan was impressed by how independent such young children were. Now that he finally had something he could help with, he was happy. Jonathan smiled. "No problem. I'll make you look beautiful."

Eileen climbed onto his lap. "I want a bun, like the one Mommy makes for me."

Jonathan fell silent.

He had spoken too soon. A bun seemed difficult to do.

"If you don't knowy how. I can teach you. First, braid it like this, then twist it up and tie it together." Eileen demonstrated with her little hands.

Jonathan smiled awkwardly. "I'll try my best."

Jonathan had thought combing hair would be easy, but as soon as he ran the comb through, Eileen yelped in pain. "It hurts. You have to comb gently, or you'll pull all my hair out."

Seeing a few strands of hair in his hand, Jonathan felt guilty and carefully combed her hair. When he felt resistance, Eileen's pained expression made him want to cry. Combing hair was too hard.

He had no choice but to slowly untangle it with his hands before combing again.

"Tell me if it hurts," Jonathan said gently.

"Okay, thank you," Eileen replied.

Her soft voice melted his heart. He wasn't a patient person, but he never got tired of these three kids.

After nearly an hour, her hair was finally smooth, and Jonathan let out a sigh of relief. But then Eileen handed him the hair tie. "Now you need to braid it and make a bun."

Jonathan's mouth twitched. "Eileen, I think you look pretty with your hair down. How about we skip the bun?"

Eileen shook her head. "I like buns. You don't know how to do it, do you?

He couldn't admit that. He reluctantly tried to braid her hair, but no matter how he twisted it, it wouldn't take shape. It was harder than dealing with an enemy. Who on earth thought of this absurdly difficult-to-style hairdo?

After much effort, he finally managed to twist the braid into a bun, but it didn't look like a bun at all!

Eileen stood in front of the mirror. "Mr. Handsome, why does the bun you made look different from Mommy's?"

"It is a new hairstyle. You're the first to have it." Jonathan lied to a child for the first time, finding it harder than negotiating a business deal.

"Does it look good?" Eileen asked innocently.

Jonathan nodded, lying through his teeth. "It looks great. You're so cute, any hairstyle looks good on you."

Eileen happily ran out to show her brothers. "Look at my hair."

Zachary laughed. "You look like you have a bird's nest on your head. It's hilarious."

Kyle laughed too. "I think it looks more like a dog's nest. How can someone make hair look like that?" Eileen pouted. "You guys are mean. Mr. Handsome didI this new hairstyle for me, and it's very cute."
