Chapter 65

Gavin had always disliked Serena, not for any particular réason, but because his sixth sense told him that Serena was not as simple and innocent as she appeared. Therefore, he never showed her a pleasant face.

Gavin looked at Charlotte, almost pleading, "Please come with me.Frederick really can't do without you. Just be kind and help me out,okay?Didn't I help you once before?"

"Alright."

Charlotte replied impatiently. "I'll go with you."

She agreed to Gavin partly because she did owe him a favor, and partly because she wanted to know what secret Gavin was hiding when he hesitated to speak earlier.

Especially on her way back, she was puzzled by Frederick's sudden change in attitude after waking up, which was really baffling.

"Great! Let's go now!"

Gavin breathed a sigh of relief.

After Charlotte went downstairs, they were ready to leave, but Serena followed them. "I'm going too! I am uneasy with you taking Charlotte out so late at night."Serena also got into the car. Gavin couldn't believe Serena was so shameless, haunting them like a ghost.

What Gavin regretted even more was not driving his two-seater sports car today. If he had, Serena would have had to run after the car if she wanted to follow.

Serena clung to the door handle, refusing to get out.

"Enough! Drive!"

Charlotte shouted.

She hadn't eaten dinner and was already feeling uncomfortable from hunger. The argument between the two only made her more annoyed.

Gavin immediately shut up, not daring to say another word.

He drove towards the hospital in an eerie silence.

When they arrived at the hospital room, Gavin wanted to be the first to go in and inform Frederick that both women had come.

But as soon as the door opened, Serena squeezed in first. She threw herself in front of Frederick, her expression full of concern."Frederick, if you needed someone to take care of you, you should have told me. Why did you call Charlotte? Do you think I'm clumsy and can't take good care of you?" Frederick frowned slightly.

For some reason, he felt a bit disappointed when he saw that it was Serena and not Charlotte who had come.

Suppressing his strange feelings, Frederick said gently, "You're pregnant,you can't stay up late. She's used to taking care of me."

Frederick's previous behavior almost deceived her, making her nearly believe him and almost reveal her pregnancy.

But not anymore, she would never be fooled by him again! Gavin quickly coughed twice, signaling Frederick to look at Charlotte behind him. Frederick looked up and saw Charlotte standing behind Gavin.Seeing Charlotte, Frederick felt a ripple in his heart. Charlotte was wearing a plain white loose cotton and linen dress. The loose dress hid her curvy figure but revealed her smooth and delicate shoulders. Her thick long hair was loosely braided into a side braid,making her look fresh and pure.

Seeing Frederick staring at Charlotte, Serena felt a surge of hatred.

'That bitch Charlotte!

She had been ready to rest at home, but Charlotte even dressed up to seduce Frederick!

Serena said unkindly, "I'm enough here. You two can leave. Frederick is seriously injured, I don't trust anyone else."

Gavin couldn't help but expose her. "If you didn't trust anyone else, why did you leave earlier?"

'Serena is so hypocritical!

"Shut up! No one thinks you're mute!"

Serena was almost driven mad by Gavin.

Gavin wasn't afraid of her at all. "What are you staying for? What if Frederick needs to go to the bathroom? Can you help him? You're not here to take care of him, you're here to molest him!"

"You!"

Serena's face twisted in anger, but remembering Frederick was still there,she suppressed her anger and leaned weakly against Frederick. "Frederick,I know Gavin has never liked me, but I just want to stay and take care of you.Is that so wrong?" No matter what, she couldn't let Charlotte stay.

Frederick didn't respond for a long time, making Serena anxious.

Serena looked at Charlotte warily. "You don't want to stay, right? If Gavin hadn't begged you to come,you wouldn't have come,right?"

Charlotte's expression remained indifferent, neither confirming nor denying.giving no reaction at all.

But Frederick's face darkened at her words.

'Charlotte didn't want to come take care of me? How could that be? Before,no matter how late I came back from social events, Charlotte would always take care of me without complaint and make porridge for me the next day.'

'Charlotte loves me so much, how could she not want to come? I just drank the porridge she made for me, why did she suddenly change her attitude?'

Frederick asked in a deep voice, "Charlotte, is what Serena said true? Are you so unwilling to take care of me?"

Hearing him call Serena so intimately, Charlotte's last bit of hope disappeared.

Charlotte's voice was cold, "Yes, if it weren't Gavin, I wouldn't have come at all. Now you don't need me, right? I'll leave now."

Serena breathed a sigh of relief. But Frederick shouted, "I had never asked you to leave! You stay."Charlotte had already lifted her foot to leave but stopped abruptly at his words.

She looked at Frederick coldly. "Are you playing with me? There's already someone willing to take care of you, why do you insist on me staying? If you want a divorce, I can go with you anytime, but please stop this borng game!"

Giving him tenderness and hope, again and again, only to turn his back on her!

She couldn't afford Frederick's love!
