Chapter 95
Gerald flashed her a grin. "Ms. Johnson, why not just open up to the person you like?"
Emily was taken aback and blurted out, "What is this feeling called 'liking'someone?"
Gerald squinted, realizing Emily's confusion about her feelings was pretty serious.
Emily said, "I can tell you anything, and you know everything about me."
Gerald gave a small smile, but there was a hint of helplessness in his eyes."Emily, I'm just your doctor. Talking to me doesn't count as opening up.You need to open your heart to the one you love."
Emily smiled bitterly. She had forgotten what it felt like to like someone, let alone love.
After Emily was taken back to the Johnson Mansion, she learned to hide her feelings and acted obediently.
Emily mimicked Veda's acting cute and her cuddling up for attention towards Mia and Aiden. But there was still a barrier between them.
However, Wilder and Calliope were different. They accepted everything about her without forcing her to be exceptional. It was a completely selfless emotionalinvestment. But she couldn't go to the Williams family. In the past, Emily's first thought might have been John. Now it wasn't him anymore.
Ella?
She was far away in Starry Capital.
That left only one person, James. Since when did she feel that James was someone she could trust and rely on?
Gerald knew Emily well and said directly, "Sometimes, you have to seize the opportunity."
Emily looked up and chuckled. "Dr. Patterson, then you better give me some medicine. I can't figure out my feelings for James right now."
"And you've been keeping him around for three years?"
The biggest mistake Emily made in her life was keeping James.
James appeared noble and aloof in public, but in front of her, he was cautious and gentle.
Sometimes Emily felt that even if her illness was severe, she would inevitably fall bit by bit in James's tenderness.
Emily needed a place to heal. So even though Emily considered ending this abnormal relationship every day, she never really said it out loud because she couldn't bear to.Gerald looked calmly at Emily. "He might be your remedy. You should dare to give it a try. As for medicine, it's better to take less." Emily sighed. "You know he's from the Smith family." "Would you really be afraid of that? " Emily was particularly candid. "Of course, I'm afraid..."
Starry Capital was a dangerous place, let alone the Smith family. It was even more treacherous.
Emily didn't want to live in fear every day, and if she really was with James, that would be inevitable.
"Do you love him?"
Emily paused, the silence hanging heavy. After a moment, she said,"Well...
I do. It seems unfair to him, right?"
She felt a mix of bitterness and fear.
GeraldI looked at her with pity. Emily's ambivalence towards emotions was even more severe than she had imagined.
She couldn't even see her own heart clearly.
Gerald bent down, his hand on her side, and said softly, "Emily, try to forget all the hurt and just think about James. Now tell me, do you love him?"
"I do. I love him very much."
Emily's eyes were clouded with confusion, but her voice was steady.
When John came back, she insisted on breaking up with James because she had this gut feeling that she would completely fall for him later. She was getting more and more hooked on James's warmth. This made Emily start to waver. So she thought it was better not to have it in the first place. Later, she moved back to Crystal Valley Manor.
It was because she didn't want to losecontrol and lash out in front of John.Plus, James could hold her back and keep her rational.
James was truly her remedy.
On the surface, there were three rules for James, but in reality, only Emily knew in her heart that she was setting rules for herself.
Emily kept remninding herself that they would eventually part ways.
So there was always a vague barrier between them.
Gerald stood up straight.
Emily suddenly snapped out of it and said, "Dr. Patterson, I know you're good, but try not to hypnotize me."
Emily pinched her brow.
It was different when someone forced their way into her heart versus when she chose to share her emotions willingly.
Being hypnotized felt like having her heart dissected, comnpletely exposed to the sunlight.
Emily stood up,grabbed her bag, and left directly.
Gerald's voice came from behind. "Where are you going?" Emily smiled. "I can't waste the hypnosis you gave me. While I'm feeling something for James right now, I'll share my feelings with him." For the first time, Emily declared this kind of liking out loud. There was afaint excitement in her heart.
She wanted to hold James's heart and be with him.
She wanted to tell him, "James, I love you."
She just wanted him to know her feelings. She didn't want to see the disappointment in his eyes again.
She drove recklessly and soon arrived at the Golden Birch Group.
Emily walked in openly.
Just out of the elevator, she saw Anais, who was stunned.
Emily didn't want to talk to her at all,so she just walked past her to find James.
But Anais suddenly followed and stood in front of her. "Emily, what are you doing here?"
Emily raised an eyebrow, her voice tinged with laziness. "I'm here to see my boyfriend."
When Anais heard that, she lost her mind.
James had already made it clear that he was breaking off the engagement with the Allen family and even compensated them, leaving them with nothing to say but to agree. Besides, most of the resources of the Smith family were in James's hands,so they didn't dare to object. Anais, seeing Emily, naturally redirected her anger towards her, even though she knew that this matter had little to do with Emily. She was jealous.
Why did James have to fall for Emily? What qualities did Emily have besides being pretty!
Men were so shallow!
Trembling, Anais pointed at Emily. "You're already married to John. Why are you still clinging to James? Why are you so shameless!"
Anais only knew that Emily had been married before, but John loved Veda.So she thought Emily was fooling around outside with a twisted mind.
