Chapter 85

The scientists and researchers were utterly stunned.

Several professors fumbled for their phones, frantically searching: "How many people have successfully extracted pure Azurium?"

One chemistry professor rushed to Liam, his voice trembling with excitement. "General Blackwood, my research shows fewer than ten individuals worldwide have achieved this."

"Moreover," he continued, adjusting his glasses, "it's classified technology in advanced nations. They're profiting from this knowledge while keeping it strictly guarded."

Liam's sharp gaze focused. "Names?"

"The sources don't disclose identities," the professor admitted, wiping his brow.

Evelyn's demonstration left the room electrified. Executives swarmed Liam, firing questions like bullets.

"How is Mrs. Blackwood more skilled than our top Aldenrian scientists?"

"General, where did your wife acquire such advanced techniques?"

"She solved the Azurium poisoning last time too. This can't be coincidence - she must have hidden credentials!"

Liam's jaw tightened. "You're asking me? Who should I ask?"

"But-"

"Enough." His command sliced through the chatter. "We've achieved a breakthrough. Everyone, get some rest."

As the crowd dispersed, murmurs still filled the air.

The elevator dinged. Evelyn emerged, her movements graceful despite her injuries.

Before Liam could reach her, the scientists mobbed Evelyn like starstruck fans.

These normally reserved academics transformed into eager students, their eyes alight with curiosity.

Evelyn answered each question patiently, her humility disarming. The exchange grew more animated by the minute.

Liam exchanged a glance with Adrian. Understanding immediately, Adrian intervened.

"Professors, it's late. Mrs. Blackwood needs rest for her recovery. Perhaps continue this discussion when she's recovered?"

Reluctant goodnights followed. The scholars escorted Evelyn out respectfully.

The car ride passed in heavy silence. Neither spoke.

Back at Blackwood Manor, Liam removed his jacket, selecting sleepwear from the wardrobe.

"Rest now," he said softly before heading to the shower.

Evelyn perched nervously on the bed's edge. While others celebrated, Liam's demeanor had grown increasingly somber.

She sensed his suspicion mounting again.

As Liam reached the bathroom door, Evelyn's voice stopped him cold.

"Liam Blackwood."

He froze, back still turned.

Fingers tracing her bandages, she whispered, "Are you angry?"

He turned slowly, meeting her gaze. "You always use my full name. I'm your husband - shouldn't that bother me?"

Evelyn blinked, then shook her head. "Not that. I meant... about the Azurium."
