Chapter 85
Flynn was fuming. He had gone through so mch trouble to get Austin to Silverbrook just to get away from Jonathan, and now Jonathan had shown up in person.
Earlier, Kathie had helped Austin, and Flynn was now desperate to find a way to regain the upper hand.
Jonathan looked at Flynn. "So, Mr. Campbell, what do you think?"
Flynn forced a smile and nodded. "Always happy to host. You're welcome here."
Since Austin had extended the invitation, Flynn had no choice but to agree.
At the most luxurious restaurant in Silverbrook, Flynn had ordered a lavish spread. Once the dlishes were served, he clapped his hands, and a stunning woman in a revealing outfit walked out.
Flynn enthusiastically introduced her. "Mr. Roberts, this is my secretary,Eleanor Mitchell. She heard you were coming and insisted on joining us for a drink."
Jonathan and Kathie exchanged glances, surprised that Flynn would resort to such a tactic to win Austin over.
Eleanor swayed her hips seductively as she slowly sat next to Austin, picking up a glass of wine.
She said slowly, in a seductive manner, "Mr. Roberts, I've heard so much about you. It's an honor to finally meet you. Let's have a few drinks together."
Austin grinned, "Being on the mind of such a beautiful woman is my honor."
Kathie felt a bit disgusted seeing Austin practically ogling Eleanor. Just a moment ago, she had thought Austin and his wife were the perfect couple.and now he was flirting with another woman.
She thought. 'None of men are faithful.'
She glanced at Jonathan and found him staring at her intensely, which made her uncomfortable.
Flynn raised his glass. "Mr. Berkeley, it's rare for us to meet. We should have a drink."
Jonathan picked up his glass, but Kathie snatched it away."Mr. Campbell,
Mr. Berkeley is injured and can't drink. I'll drink for himn."
Flynn sneered. "A man letting a woman drink for him? That's not right."
Kathie shot back, "You knew Mr. Roberts has a pregnant wife, and you stiIl arranged for him to have drinks with an attractive woman? How is that appropriate?"
"You!" Flynn was so angry his mouth twisted, but he quickly calmed down. "Mr. Berkeley is injured, so iť's fine for you to drink for him.But you should drink three glasses to show respect."
Kathie downed the first glass. "No problem."
As she poured the second glass, Jonathan held her hand. "Don't overdo it."
Kathie whispered, "Don't worry, I-can handle my liquor. This is nothing."
Jonathan had never seen her drink before, but seeing how composed she was, he assumed she could handle it and let go.
.Flynn clapped as she finished the three glasses. "Ms. Cavendish, you're impressive. Let me toast you again."
Jonathan's face darkened. "Mr. Campbell, she just drank."
"That was for you. This is my toast to her. It's different." Flynn said, then he turned to Kathie. "Or do you look down on me?"
Flynn was trying to get her drunk.
Kathie smiled. "Fine. I'll toast you out of respect."
Flynn nodded in satisfaction as she drank, then signaled the waiter to refill her glass.
He smirked. "Ms. Cavendish, you're not only capable but also skilled in medicine. I admire you. Let me toast you again."
He drank first, holding up his empty glass to pressure her.
Kathie understood and picked up her glass with a smile. "Mr. Campbell, I should drink your toast. But if you keep trying to get me drunk, be careful.1
"What, are you gonna hit me?"
He was hoping Kathie would embarrass herself in front of Austin.
Kathie shook her head. "I don't hit people, but I do acupuncture. When I get drunk, I like to practice on others. If I accidentally cripple you, don't blame me."
Flynn's face stiffened. He had seen her acupuncture skills earlier and wondered if she could really hurt him.
Jonathan added, "Mr. Campbell, you might not know, but on our way here,we were ambushed. She disabled the attacker with a single needle. She .tends to practice on people when she's drunk. You should be careful."
Austin found this amusing. "Ms. Cavendish, you are indeed impressive.I'
d like to see your acupuncture skills."
Kathie happily said, "Then TIl keep drinking with Mr. Campbell. When I'm drunk. I'll give you a demonstration."
Flynn was unsettled by this and coughed. "I've had some stomach issues lately. The doctor advised me not to drink too much. Let's just have some juice."
Kathie asked seriously, "No more drinking?"
"No more. Let's have juice."
Flynn quickly had the waiter remove the alcohol to prevent Kathie from getting drunk and causing trouble.
Jonathan gave Kathie a thumbs up. She always had a way.
Eleanor poured Austin some juice, deliberately spilling it on his clothes.
In a flirtatious voice, she said, "Oh no, Mr. Roberts, I'm so sorry.Let me clean that up."
She leaned in, showing off her figure.
Flynn was pleased but pretended to scold her. "Ellie, you're so clumsy. You've soaked Mr. Roberts' clothes. I have a room upstairs. Take him to change."
Eleanor took Austin' arm and cooed, "Mr. Roberts, it's my fault. Let me take you to change. You can punish me however you like."
Kathie clenched her fists. Austin's wife was in the hospital, and he was about to go off with another woman?
Austin hesitated, and Flynn quickly said, "It's just a change of clothes. He'Il be right back."
Jonathan spoke up. "Mr. Roberts is known for being a model husband. I'm sure he knows his limits."
Austin's eyes cleared, and just then, his phone rang. It was the hospital.saying his wife was awake and asking for him.
"T'll be right there!" Austin hung up and quickly left after giving some instructions.
Flynn signaled Eleanor to follow and try to get close to him.
With the guests gone, Flynn had no reason to stay, especially with people he disliked. He stood up coldly. "Mr. Berkeley, I've already paid. Enjoy your meal. I'm leaving."
Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."
After Flynn left, Jonathan noticed Kathie's flushed cheeks and unsteady posture. Was she drunk?
"Are you okay?" Jonathan asked, concerned.
Kathie's vision blurred, and she asked curiously, "Why are there two Sevens?"
Jonathan facepalmed. "Didn't you say you could handle your liquor? You can't drink, can you?"
Kathie yawned and laid her head on the table, lazily saying,"Of course I can't. But I couldn't let him look down on us or make you worry."
If Jonathan knew she couldn't drink, he wouldn't have let her take his place. He would have drunk himself, affecting his health.
Jonathan felt a warmth in his heart. This seemingly fragile woman, who couldn't do much, kept protecting him and making him feel a unique warmth.
He brushed her hair aside and gently helped her up. "Don't sleep here.Let's get back to the hotel."
