Chapter 84
Jonathan had just stepped off the helicopter when he got the latest news:Austin and his wife had arrived in Silverbrook, but his wife had fainted and was now in the hospital. There was no time to discuss business with Flynn.
Jonathan, with Kathie by his side, hurried over. In the car, he said, "From now on. you're my secretary."
Kathie nodded. "Got it. This way. I can help you better."
Introducing her as a doctor might complicate things.
Silverbrook Hospital.
Austin stood by his wife's bedside, looking worried, while Flynn tried to comfort him, "Mr. Roberts, don't worry too much. Our doctors here are top-notch. Mrs. Roberts is just experiencing severe morning sickness and some travel-related issues. It's nothing serious."
Austin watched his wife, who was vomiting and looked utterly exhausted, and felt a pang of sorrow.
He said,"Mr. Campbell, please have your doctors find a solution. My wife is in so much pain."
The doctor sighed. "Mrs. Roberts is three months pregnant. Long-distance travel isn't ideal for her, and the travel has made her morning sickness worse. We can't just prescribe medication without risking harm to the baby.
"
Austin was anxious. "So what do we do? Just let her suffer like this? Can't you think of something else?"
Flynn reassured him,"Have Mrs. Roberts drink plenty of water and rest
for a couple of days. She'll be fine."
Austin glared at him. "Is that your solution? She's been vomiting non-stop.How can she drink water? I've heard your country has excellent traditional healers. Why don't you find one to help her?"
Flynn replied, "Mr. Roberts, those are just exaggerated claims. Traditional healers can't solve these kinds of problems."
"Who says they can't? I can!" Kathie interjected.
Flynn turned around to see Jonathan in a wheelchair, a slight smile on his face. "Mr. Berkeley? Even with your condition, you cameall the way to Silverbrook?"
Jonathan shot him a glance. "Don't get too cocky. You might not even realize how you failed."
Flynn gritted his teeth, determined to see who would have the last laugh.
Austin, feeling a bit awkward, said, "Mr. Berkeley, what brings you here?"
Jonathan laughed heartily. "I was heartbroken when you stood me up, so I came over."
Austín,feeling guilty, quickly changed the subject. "Was it the lady behind you who said she could help my wife? Can she really?"
Jonathan nodded confidently. "Mr. Roberts, let me introduce you to my secretary,Kathie. She's trained in traditional healing and knows a lot about medicine. She can definitely help Mrs. Roberts."
Flynn, not wanting Jonathan to steal the credit, quickly said, "Mr. Roberts, don't be too quick to believe this. In our country, they say eight out of ten traditional healers are frauds. If something goes wrong,it could be disastrous."
This serious warning made Austin hesitate.
Kathie stepped forward. "I've observed Mrs. Roberts' condition. Severe morning sickness combined with travel-related issues is very serious. If it continues, it could lead to dehydration and endanger her life. I'm confident I can help her."
Flynn countered, "Stop scaremongering. We have traditional healers at our hospital too. I can have them treat her."
Kathie replied confidently, "If you want her pain relieved quickly, I'm the one who can do it. If you don't believe me, we can make a bet. Even if you bring in all the traditional healers in town, they won't match my results."
Flynn.seeing her confidence,hesitated to bet.
Jonathan chimed in, "Mr. Roberts, you knów my situation. My leg was healed by her. Her skills are exceptional. She can definitely help Mrs.Roberts. We wouldn't have come all this way to cause trouble."
Austin found this reasonable. Jonathan wouldn't risk his secretary's reputation without being sure.
Austin looked at Kathie. "Are you really confident?"
Flynn quickly added, "If anything goes wrong, you must leave Silverbrook.
Mr.Berkeley, do you dare to bet?"
Kathie looked at him. "If I succeed, will you withdraw from the competition?"
Flynn gritted his teeth, thinking this secretary was quite opportunistic.
He said, "I'm just concerned about your medical skills."
Kathie rolled her eyes. "You don't need to worry. I can absolutely handle
this."
Flynn was frustrated. Jonathan had indeed found a sharp-tongued secretary.
Jonathan gave her an approving look. He knew that curing Austin's wife would win Austin's favor.
Austin, seeing her confidence and knowing Jonathan's character, agreed.
"Alright, but my wife can't take medication or easily receive IV fluids."
Kathie nodded. "Ill use acupuncture."
"You know acupuncture?" Austin was surprised.
Flynn wanted to say something, but Jonathan quickly interjected, "She used acupuncture to heal me. Mr. Roberts, rest assured."
Seeing his wife in such distress, Austin agreed to let her try.
Flynn decided not to say more. He didn't believe Kathie, just Jonathan's secretary, could really do it. He hoped she would worsen Austin's wife's condition, making it easier for him to win Austin over.
Kathie took out silver needles and calmly performed acupuncture on Austin's wife under everyone's watchful eyes.
A few minutes later, Austin's wife, who had been pale, started to regain color. Even her morning sickness improved, astonishing the doctors.
Twenty minutes later, Kathie removed the needles. Austin's wife felt tired and wanted to sleep.
After being tormented by morning sickness for eight hours since the flight, she hadn't been able to rest.
Auistin. overjoyed, comforted his wife to sleep and led Kathie and the others out.
Flynn's face was grim. He hadn't expected Kathie to have such skills.
Kathie advised. "Mrs. Roberts will be fine after a nap. If there are any issues, you can contact Mr. Berkeley."
Austin smiled. "Thank you so much. Mr. Berkeley, you have remarkable people around you. I was worried about my wife and was planning to take her back soona. Now we can discuss business."
Jonathan, sensing hope, smiled. "We should find time to talk."
Flynn quickly interrupted, "Mr. Roberts, it's lunchtime. I've booked the best restaurant for you. You've had a long day and should eat."
Austin nodded.
Jonathan chimed in, "We just arrived in Silverbrook. Mr. Campbell, would you invite us too?"
Flynn gritted his teeth, thinking Jonathan was shameless. He was about to refuse when Kathie said, "I'm quite tired after treating Mrs. Roberts. Can I join you for a meal?"
As Austin's benefactor, Kathie had spoken, and Austin couldn't refuse. "Of course, no problem. Mr. Berkeley, please join us."
