Chapter 59

Jonathan never would have believed he could change so much. His personality was nothing to brag about. even to himself. But everything changed after he started spending time with Kathie and her kids. He loved the new him and was increasingly addicted to the joy of being with them. This was what he wanted in a family.

Thinking about it, he patted his chest and laughed, "Absolutely genuine."

Kathie, unaware of his thoughts, sighed, "You should probably get your head checked at the hospital soon."

The warm feeling Jonathan had just experienced vanished instantly, replaced by annoyance. Was she saying he was crazy?

"My head's just fine. I only act this way around you," he retorted.

"So,should I be honored?"

"Kathie, cut the sarcasm. You're just jealous because you saw Patricia come looking for me today. I've already told her not to come anymore."

Jonathan, clueless in love, still hadn't explained his relationship with Patricia. Kathie had made it clear she wouldn't like someone who was already taken. Yet, he kept forgetting to clarify that Patricia publicly calling him her boyfriend was a misunderstanding.

As expected, Kathie was furious. She grabbed the showerhead and aimed it at him. "Say I'm jealous one more time, and I'll wake you up with cold water."

Jonathan was confused. "What's the harm in admitting you like me?"

"You dare say that again."

Kathie turned on the water, drenching Jonathan in icy coldness."Tur it off! It's freezing!" Jonathan screamed.

"Will you stop saying it?"

Seeing she wouldn't stop,Jonathan panicked and grabbed the handrail to stand up. Kathie was stunned.

It was the first time she saw Jonathan stand. He was taller than she expected, his handsome face and athletic build making even his wet hair look attractive.

"You...you can stand!" she said, her eyes wide with shock.

Jonathan, equally surprised, looked at her with joy. "I can stand!"

Kathie waved him over. "Try taking a step."

Jonathan held onto the wall, trying to move his feet, but they felt like they were weighed down by a thousand pounds.

"Don't rush. Take it slow," Kathie said.

Jonathan took a deep breath and forced himself to take a step. Kathie clapped excitedly. "Great job! Try again."

Though he managed a step, the pain was excruciating, pulling at every nerve in his body.

Seeing his pained expression, Kathie rushed to support him. "Don't push too hard.Sit down for now."

Jonathan shook his head. He had waited too long for this moment and feared he might never stand again if he sat down.

"I want to keep trying," he said.

"Okay, I'll support you. Don't strain yourself. You're doing great."

With Kathie's help. Jonathan took another step. feeling more hopeful. He took a bigger step, but the pain intensified, causing him to fall forward.

Kathie tried to catch him, but her slender frame couldn't support his weight. They both fell, and in the chaos, the showerhead turned on,drenching them both.

Jonathan propped himself up, water dripping from him onto Kathie. They locked eyes, the air thick with tension.

Jonathan wiped the water from her face, his hand lingering on her cheek.

Kathie's heart raced. She tried to get up, but he held her down.

"Let me up. It's cold."

Jonathan smirked. "Now you feel cold? You didn't show me any mercy earlier."

Kathie wasn't in the mood for jokes. She struggled, but he held tightes.

"Seven, if you don't let go, I'm gonna get really mad."

"Dr. Cavendish, this is called sharing the good and the bad.Plus,I'm blocking the water for you."

"Jerk!"

The night air was chily, and Kathie, who was already sensitive to the cold, began to shiver.

Jonathan looked at her trembling body, her fluttering eyelashes making her look like a wounded rabbit, stirring a desire to protect and possess her.

Her lips parted slightly; Jonathan's breathing quickened as a primal urge rose within him, clouding his mind with a single dominating thought:he wanted to make love to Kathie.Kathie felt something hard against her thigh, her cheeks flushing.

"Jonathan, if you don't get up. I'm really gonna get mad. Believe me, I can make sure you never have sex again," she warned.

Jonathan leaned in. whispering. "Once we've been intimate, you won't be able to resist."

Kathie, both embarrassed and angry, freed her hand and slapped him."Shameless."

Jonathan snapped out of it, letting her go. Had he really just thought that?He used to only fantasize, but now he wanted to act on it.

Kathie pushed him off, turned off the shower, and was about to scold him when she noticed three little faces at the door.

Kathie froze. Eileen covered her eyes. "Mommy, we didn't see anything."

Kyle said seriously, "Seven, since you're at this stage, you should discuss when to get married."

Zachary cheered,"We can be the flower children!"

Kathie was mortified.

"Kids, have you finished your homework?" She tried to send them away so she could deal with Jonathan.

The kids nodded. "Mommy, we finished everything. You can check."

Kathie knew her kids were smart. Homework was a breeze for them.

"Then go shell some peas in the kitchen. I'Il make something for you later,"Kathie said.

Eileen asked excitedly, "Mommy, are you going to give us a little brother

or sister?"

Kathie's mouth twitched. "Absolutely not. Having you is enough. Seven just fell while walking, not what you think."

Zachary giggled. "Mommy, you don't need to explain. We get it."

Kathie was speechless. Jonathan's smug look made her want to strangle him.

Kyle waved. "We'll help in the kitchen. You two continue."

Kathie took a deep breath. She couldn't get mad at her kids. She had to send them away first.

Eileen turned, smiling. "I want a sister to wear dresses with."

Zachary shook his head. "A brother would be better. I want a little brother.

"

Kyle suggested, "They could have boy and girl twins."

Kathie was beyond embarrassed.

Her kids' comments were loud and clear. She wanted to disappear.

Jonathan, however, was enjoying it. "Kathie, as adults, shouldn't we make the kids happy?"

Kathie gritted her teeth. "What do you mean?"

Jonathan grinned."We could fulfill their wishes."

Kathie realized he was becoming more shameless.

.She cracked her knuckles, glaring at him. "Seven, you need a lesson."Jonathan raised his hands. "Kathie, have mercy. I'll behave." Kathie shook her head. "No.you need to remember this. Otherwise, you'll just get more and more unruly. It might hurt, but bear with it."

She pressed on his shoulder. hitting a pressure point, making Jonathan scream.

In the kitchen, the kids exchanged glances and laughed.
