Chapter 48

The Stewart siblings' faces fell when they heard the news. They never imagined Kathie was not only greedy but also had such a messy personal life.

"Does she have any other secrets?" Patricia asked.

Ben replied, "Nothing else has come up so far."

"Thanks for the heads-up. We'll keep this under wraps." Patricia hung up,but she couldn't shake her unease. She then turned to Henry. "Henry,we need to go back right now. I want to get Jonathan away from Kathie. He can't stay with her."

Henry shook his head. "You know how stubborn he is. Once he's made up his mind, he won't budge."

Patricia was on the edge of losing it. "You heard what Ben said. How can we let someone like Kathie stay around Jonathan?"

Henry was worried too, but he said helplessly, "Jonathan has his own mind. And haven't you noticed? He really cares about Kathie! He won't leave easily."

Patrícia had indeed noticed Jonathan's special attention to Kathie. Her heart was already filled with anger and jealousy. She clenched her fists and said fiercely, "I won't let anyone take him away!"

Henry, seeing her like this, was also worried but tried to comfort her, "You've been with him for years. How can Kathie compare to that? He's just grateful to her for saving his life. He'll come back."

Despite his words, Henry could sense Jonathan's change.

He had never seen Jonathan care so much about someone. Patricia was going to have trouble with her feelings in the future.

At 4 PM4. Kathie's kids got out of school.

Kathie stood at the front so that her kids would see her first.

Eileen saw her mom and waved excitedly. "Mommy!"

Zachary and Kyle followed behind her, calling out happily, "Mommy, we're here!"

Kathie opened her arms and hugged her three kids. "How was school today,my darlings? Did you have fun?"

Eileen nodded. "It was great! I made new friends."

Kathie pinched Zachary's cheek. "How about you, Zachary? How was it?"

Zachary's expression was calm. "It was okay."

Kathie looked at her three kids. Before she could say anything, Kyle spoke up. "I thought it was just so-so,but I'll manage."

Kathie laughed. "Good kids, Mommy will make something delicious for you tonight."

Eileen clapped her hands happily. "Yay! The school food is good, but it doesn't taste like Mommy's cooking."

"Such sweet talk. Get in the car." Kathie opened the car door and was about to help them in when someone grabbed Eileen's backpack from behind.

Kathie turned around curiously and saw it was Bob.

She asked, puzzled, "Why are you grabbing Eileen's backpack?"

Bob looked anxious. "I want to sit next to Eileen, but she won't let me."

Kyle pushed him away. "We don't like you. Stay away from Eileen."

Kathie was surprised they were in the same class. Bob seemed to really like Eileen.

Bob looked a bit hurt. "I want to be friends with Eileen. I won't bully her."

Zachary stepped in front of him. "I saw you trying to take Eileen's pencil case today. You're not a good kid."

Bob argued, "I just wanted to play with her."

Kyle was blunt. "No dne likes to play like that. Go away!"

Shirley, who had followed behind, saw this and sneered, "Your family is really good at bullying people, ganging up on my son."

Kathie turned and glared at her. "Are you blind? Didn't you seé your son chasing after Eileen and grabbing her? He even tried to take her things at school."

Seeing her son's behavior, Shirley had a moment of realization. She pulled him back and pinched his ear. "YouI're embarrassing me. Get back in the car."

Bob kept shouting that he wanted to be friends with Eileen, but Shirley covered his mouth and shoved him into the car.

As Shirley watched Kathie drive away, she couldn't believe her son liked Kathie's daughter so much. It was a real twist of fate.

In the car, Kathie asked her kids about Bob. "What else did he do?"

Eileen sighed. "He talks a lot and tries to take other people's things. No .one likes to play with him, and I don't want to either."

"If he tries to bully you, let your brothers handle it. But you shouldn't isolate or bully him either." Kathie didn't like Shirley's family, but she didn't want to target Bob.

Kyle nodded. "Don't worry,Mommy. We'll protect Eileen."

Kathie was relieved. "I'm glad to hear that."

Eileen asked, "How's Seven at home? Did he mention me?"

Zachary said excitedly. "I showed my classmates the trick Seven taught me today. They all said I was amazing. I want to tell Seven."

"Seven said he'd maké us slingshots today. I can't wait," Kyle added.

Kathie felt conflicted. "You all really like him."

The three kids answered in unison, "Of course!"

Seeing how much the kids liked Jonathan, Kathie wondered what impact his eventual departure would have on them.

But she knew she couldn't keep Jonathan.

In the suburban villa of Eldoria, Jonathan heard the car wheelsand came to the door.

The three kids saw him and cheered, even more excited than when they saw Kathie.

Eileen ran ahead and jumped into his arms. "Seven, did you miss me? I missed you so much at school."

Jonathan's heart melted. He liked these three adorable kids more and more.

He held Eileen in his arms, reluctant to let go. "Of course,I missed you.I''ve been waiting for you at home."

Zachary hugged his arm. "I missed you too. I showed my classmates the trick you taught me and they all praised me and gave me things."

He then pulled out an eraser and a pencil from his bag and handed them to him.

Jonathan gave him a thumbs up. "Great job, Zachary."

Kyle leaned against him and asked, "Seven, where's the slingshot you promised?"

Jonathan pulled out two slingshots from behind him. They were a bit rough but looked pretty good.

"Wow!" The three kids exclaimed in awe. "Seven, you're amazing!"

Kathie watched this warm scene and felt a bit dazed. If only he could stay forever.

But how could that be? He was Jonathan, and he had a famous singer girlfriend.

Kathie smiled. "Alright, you just got back. Go put your things away. We'll have dinner soon."

The three kids ran to their room, and Kathie walked over to Jonathan. "Mr.Berkeley. you haven't changed towards the kids."

Jonathan frowned. "I haven't changed towards you either. You don't have to call me that. Just call me Seven like before. It's more intimate."

Kathie sat next to him and asked, "When I hit Tom and got taken to the police station, he didn't press charges in the end. Was that you helping me?"

.There were many things Kathie couldn't understand before. Now that she knew Jonathan's identity, it all made sense. "Yes. I wouldn't let anyone harm you," Jonathan replied.

"And the kidis being able to go to school smoothly, that was you getting Keith to cancel the rules."

"Yes, I said I would help you."

"And those people who tried to grab me, you had someone teach them a lesson."

Jonathan nodded. "Yes, I did. I lied to you out of necessity. Can you forgive me for everything I've done?"
