Chapter 46

All of Jonathan's friends knew he wasn't into women, and they had never seen him protect someone like this, especially a woman!

Now.Patricia had barely mentioned Kathie, and Jonathan's reaction was so intense that it was hard not to suspect there was something between him and Kathie.

Patricia was the first to recover from the shock. She suppressed her overwhelming jealousy and anger, carefully choosing her words. "Jonathan,I'm just worried you might be getting played. After all, you're not just anybody."

Henry agreed. stepping in to defend his sister. "Jonathan, don't be like this.Patricia's just looking out for you. She's turned down all her engagements recently to find you. She's even worn her feet raw from walking, justto locate you."

Hearing this, Jonathan couldn'tstay angry. He sighed and said, "I know you care about me. I have everything under control. You should go back.I'Il contact you if anything comes up."

Patricia immediately shook her head. "I'm not leaving. I finally found you.I want to stay with you."

"Don't be ridiculous. If you stay, my identity will be exposed. Henry, take her away." Jonathan's leg injury hadn't healed yet, and more importantly,he didn't want to leave.

Henry, who had grown up with Jonathan, understood what he meant. "Patricia, since he has a plan, we should respect his decision.Come home with me."

"No, Henry, I can't leave Jonathan here!" Patricia's intuition told her that Jonathan's reaction and his protection of Kathie had deeply hurt her. Her unease exploded, and she couldn't allow Jonathan to stay here with Kathie.

Meanwhile. Bradley was driving Kathie back. As they passed an intersection, Kathie noticed a luxury van parked by the roadside.

"Kathie, think it over. Starlight General Hospital would always welcome you to join us," Bradley said, still hoping she would work there.

"Tll consider it. Thanks for today."

"Then treat me to a cup of coffee."

"No problem. I'll grind it myself."

They chatted and laughed as they reached the gate. Káthie nóticed the three dogs were back in their cages, which puzzled her even more. She distinctly remembered letting them out before she left. Could Seven have put them back?

She had let the dogs out to protect him, so he wouldn't have put them back unless something happened.

As Kathie pondered, she walked to the house and immediately heard a soft female voice inside saying, "I really missed you. I want to be with you and never be apart."

Jonathan's face was extremely displeased. Because he had grown up with Henry and his sister, they were like family. He treated Henry's sister like his own, and she had once saved his life. Otherwise, with his aversion to women, she wouldn't have been able to get close to him.

Patricia had always clung to Jonathan since childhood. Jonathan thought she saw him as an older brother like Henry, and although he didn't like it, he couldn't outright reject her. He would just be stern with her, making her too scared to approach. Usually, when he was stern, Patricia wouldn't cling to him. But today, no matter what he said, it didn't work. He was anxious because Kathie had been out for a while and would be back soon.He didn't want Kathie to see him being clung to by Patricia. He looked to Henry for help.

"Why are you just standing there? Get her off me..."

Before Jonathan could finish, the door opened, and Kathie stood at the entrance, seeing a beautiful woman hugging Jonathan.

Kathie recognized the woman as the popular singer Patricia, likely the owner of the luxury van.

Jonathan, seeing Kathie, immediately pushed Patricia away, keeping his distance. He felt a pang of guilt but tried to act nonchalant, smiling at Kathie. "Dr. Cavendish, you're back early."

Kathie forced a smile. She had hurried back, worried he might be bored at home.only to see this scene. Feeling uncomfortable, she spoke with a hint of anger. "Too bad I came back at the wrong time. Sorry to interrupt your reunion."

"Kathie, it's not like that. My friends just found me," Jonathan said, not wanting her to be upset.

Patricia wiped her tears and turned around, surprised to see that the rural woman she imagined Kathie to be was actually very beautiful, rivaling top celebrities.

With such a beautiful female doctor by Jonathan's side, Patricia felt even more uneasy. Her jealousy grew exponentially, but with Jonathan present, she had to maintain her composure. She pretended to be grateful, walking over to Kathie and holding her hand. "You must be the doctor who saved Jonathan. Thank you so much."

Kathie couldn't tell if she was more shocked or angry.

Jonathan?

He was the Jonathan Patricia publicly claimed as her boyfriend, the head of the Berkeley family.

He had deceived her thoroughly.

"Seven, or should I say Mr. Berkeley, is the amnesia game over?" Kathie said coldly.

Jonathan frowned, feeling a tightness in his chest. If he claimed to have just regained his memory, she wouldn't believe him. He didn't want to lie to her anymore.

"TIl explain everything later," he said.

Patricia, not understanding their conversation, saw Kathie's anger and assumed Jonathan couldn't stay here with Kathie anymore. She excitedly chimed in, "Since everything is out in the open, Jonathan, you don't need to stay here. Come back with us. As for Dr. Cavendish, I'll double the expenses Jonathan incurred."

Kathie still hadn't fully sorted out her emotions. Despite her anger, she knew that when it came to money, she wouldn't hold back.

"Three million dollars, and you can take him," Kathie said.

The Stewart siblings were shocked. "Three million dollars?"

Though the Stewart family was wealthy, they weren't used to being .extorted like this.

They had heard negative things about Kathie on the way, even from children, suggesting she wasn't well-regarded.

Now.asking for such a large sum confirmed their suspicions that she had ulterior motives in saving Jonathan.

Henry angrily retorted. "You're too greedy. We're grateful you saved Jonathan and can pay double the market rate, but this amount is excessive."

Kathie didn't care if they misunderstood. She wasn't in the mood to be polite to people who were hostile from the start. She coldly replied, "What's excessive? Ask around. My consultatíon fee starts at half a million dollars.Three million is a friendly price. Besides, Mr. Berkeley promised I could fill out a check for any amount." Then she turned to Jonathan. "Are you backing out because you have more people?"

Before Jonathan could speak, Patricia, filled with disdain for Kathie, angrily interrupted, "That must have been when Jonathan waśn't in his right mind. You're a doctor, not a robber!"

Kathie didn't wvant the money but was annoyed by their arrogance, especially Patricia's unwarranted hostility and proprietorial attitude. "Don't forget, I saved his life. Otherwise, you'dI be finding his corpse. Now, do you think he's worth that price?"

Henry was speechless. This woman was sharp-tongued, and his impression of her worsened.

Jonathan, with a stern face, said, "Stop talking. Henry, take Patricia and leave."

Patricía, already upset by Jonathan's earlier reaction, was even more reluctant to leave now that she saw a beautiful female doctor by his side.

"Henry, you go back. I want to stay and take care of Jonathan," she said.

Jonathan sternly ordered, "Didn't you understand me? Leave and stop causing trouble."

Patricia, feeling wronged, said. "I won't cause trouble. I'll stay and take care of you. Dr. Cavendish has to look after her children and won't have time for you."

Jonathan was exasperated. "Taking care of a patient requires strength. You can't do anything."

Patricia persisted. "I can hire help. I won't feel at ease if I'm not by your side."

Kathie found it laughable. Did they think her home was a hotel? Had any of them considered her opinion? These arrogant rich people were insufferable! She coldly said, "Stop arguing. Mr. Berkeley is too distinguished for my humble home. You should go with them."

Kathie didn't want his arrogant friends disrupting her life. Whether it was because seeing Patricia, Jonathan's publicly known girlfriend, made her uncomfortable, only Kathie knew.

Jonathan frowned, not expecting Kathie to kick him out. This wasn't what he wanted. His face darkened. "Dr. Cavendish, are you afraid you can't treat me? You promised to make me walk again. Are you going back on your word?"

"Your friends want to take you," Kathie said angrily.

Jonathan replied, "But I didn't say I wanted to go. I'll stay until I'm healed.11

He looked at Henry, his gaze serious. "Leave and don't come back. You'll only cause trouble."

Patricia shook her head. Jonathan had lost all patience with her.He glared at her coldly. "I hate repeating myself. Henry, take her away." Though Henry was Jonathan's childhood friend, he feared his anger.

Henry pulled Patricia. "Patricia, let's go. Don't disturb him."

Patricia, filled with jealousy, asked one last time, "Jonathan, are you sure you don't want to come with us?"
