"Did you two really do nothing?" Taylor eyed her suspiciously.

"Seriously,I swear."

Charlotte knew Taylor wouldn't buy it that easily, so she played the pregnancy card. "I'm pregnant, I know what I'm doing."

Charlotte really did know what she was doing. After that night at the bar,she had secretly checked.

As long as it wasn't some wild, intense sex, it wouldn't harm the baby.

"Alright then."

Taylor gave Charlotte a serious look. "I'm not trying to stop you from being with him, but I hope all your decisions from now on come from your heart. I just want you to be happy."

Charlotte hugged her tight, feeling a warm glow inside.

"Thanks."

"No need to thank me."

Taylor playfully knocked her on the head and continued, "By the way,Charlotte, I didn't come back last night. Besides talking compensation with the lawyer, I also picked up my brother Jasper. He wants to treat you to dinner. He's a top-notch doctor, so he can check on your baby."

"Jasper went abroad, didIn't he? I can't believe he's back."

Charlotte was a bit taken aback. She remembered Jasper Johnson had gone abroad the year she got married.She thought she'd never see him again, but here he was,back in town.

At the Percy Villa.

Frederick came home with a stormy expression.

As soon as he walked in, he saw Serena on the sofa, looking allteary-eyed and worn out.

"Frederick! You're finally back!"

The moment Serena saw him, she practically flew into his arms.

Frederick didn't hug her back, just let her cling to him."Did you wait for me all night?"

Serena lifted her face from his chest, making sure he saw the tears streaming down her cheeks.

She said pitifully, "You didn't come back all night, and I couldn't reach you.I was really worried."

Serena was worried, alright, but more about Frederick being seduced by another woman.

Their relationship wasn't going great, and he was starting to hesitate about divorcing Charlotte, which made Serena feel super insecure.

At that moment, the butler, Ryan Foster, quietly slipped into the kitchen.

Serena, the actress,could lie without even blinking.

She had clearly come down from upstairs after being notified,yet she pretended to have waited downstairs all night. Frederick's emotions were all over the place again.

Looking at Serena's obedient and gentle face, he wished Charlotte could be like this.

Thinking of Charlotte, Frederick's expression darkened.

"Frederick, what's wrong? Why aren't you talking to me? Are you annoyed that I'mn asking too much?"

Serena asked,heartbroken.

She was secretly fuming. She had put on such a touching act,yet Frederick was distracted,completely 'ignoring her.

"No, I'm just a bit tired."

Frederick brushed her off, and looking at Serena's face, he remembered what Charlotte had said at the company yesterday.

He couldn't help but ask, "Why did you tell Charlotte we were discussing our wedding?"

Serena's face went pale, emotions swirling inside her.

'Is it really because of that bitch Charlotte? Did Frederick actually spend the night with her?

The thought made Serena's heart clench. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I just felt insecure. Charlotte cares so much about being Mrs. Percy. I'm worried she won't want to divorce you." Serena said pitifully, "If my words hurt her, I'm willing to apologize." Frederick was speechless.

Looking at Serena's pitiful expression, he felt for the first time that her face seemed like a lifeless mask.

This time, Frederick didn't comfort Serena. Instead, he said, "It's not that she doesn't want to divorce me, but that I can't divorce her right now.I hope you can restrain yourself a bit. If my grandma finds out what you've done, she'll never agree to our marriage."

Serena was stunned, forgetting to act pitifully.

She said sorrowfully, "I know I shouldn't have conflicts with Charlotte.Though I can wait, my child can't wait. Soon, I won't be able to hide my pregnancy. Do you want me to wear a wedding dress with a big belly?"

Serena knew how to play her cards.

She also knew that for Frederick, the child was very important, so she used the child as leverage.

Unexpectedly, Frederick didn't compromise as she had hoped.

Frederick looked at her belly indifferently and said, "Ill handle this,but until then, don't provoke Charlotte. After all, we're not officially divorced yet. Making a scene won't be good for anyone."

Serena's face turned even uglier. She didn't expect that even using the child as an excuse wouldn't make him change his mind. "I'm sorry, I won't cause you any more trouble." Serena lowered her head, looking very despondent, and then tears started falling like broken kites.

Serena couldn't stop sobbing. "Actually, you don't have to take responsibility for me. I'll pretend nothing happened back then. Just pretend I never existed. I'll leave now!"

With that,Serena was about to leave.

Frederick,feeling a headache,still grabbed her wrist.

Serena showed a triumphant smile and threw herself back into his arms.

Serena's voice was filled with longing, "Frederick, I knew you wouldn't abandon me. I'll wait for you. I love you."

Hearing her confession, Frederick felt no emotion.

He didn't know what he was feeling, only that he wished it was Charlotte in his arms right now.

The thought startled Frederick.

He pushed Serena away, looking for an excuse to leave.

Serena immediately said, "Frederick, the doctor who treated me abroad is back. He's at Sunrise Hospital. I only trust him. Can you arrange for him to continue treating me and the baby?"

"What's his name? I'll arrange it."

Mentioning the baby,Frederick relented again. "His name is Jasper Johnson. He's a great doctor, but very principled. I'm afraid your men might not handle him well," Serena said. Frederick's lips formed a straight line.

"Got it. I'll go personally."

Meanwhile, after getting ready, Charlotte and Taylor headed to the press conference.
