Chapter 15

Charlotte still wouldn't be kind to him.

Even though Frederick respected her wishes last night, he still crossed the line with her.

He even touched her in places he shouldn't have; it was really creepy.

Seeing that Charlotte hadn't responded for a while, Frederick got angry.

Frederick glared at her. "Are you seriously thinking about other guys?"

He thought, 'Who? That guy from last night?'

Charlotte was taken aback for a moment, then frowned.

"What are you talking about? That's ridiculous!"

She didn't have time for Frederick's crazy ideas; she just wanted to leave.But right then, Frederick's phone rang.

Charlotte thought it was Serena, and she got even more annoyed.She glared at Frederick and said, "Let. Me. Go!"

She still couldn't get over what happened last night. "You should answer your lover's call quickly, if you're late she might pretend to be sick again!"

Frederick clenched his jaw in frustration. He couldn't believe that the usually sweet and obedient Charlotte would say such harsh things.He finally let go of her hand and answered the phone. When he saw the caller ID, he had a bad feeling. Charlotte saw it too and was just as surprised.

The call was from the butler of the Percy Estate, and she had no idea why he was calling.

'Did something happen to Anouk?

Charlotte immediately sat back on the edge of the bed, leaning close to Frederick's phoneto hear what the butler was saying.

Frederick put the call on speaker, and the butler's voice came through loud and clear.

The butler's anxious voice said, "Mr. Percy, Mrs. Anouk Percy had an accident and fell down the stairs from the second floor. The family doctor is treating her, and it looks like she has a fracture. Please come back as soon as you can."

"Okay, I'll be right back."

Frederick's voice was calm and steady, though he was very worried about Anouk. Years of leading the Percy Family had given him great composure.

After hanging up the phone, Frederick quickly had his men prepare a clean set of clothes to be sent over.

Last night's events were too intense; their "battle" had moved from the bar's private room to the top-floor guest room. Frederick's high-end suit jacket and shirt were now in tatters.

"Have him bring a set for me too," Charlotte quickly said.

Frederick got up and put on his pants. "Don't make trouble, I'm in a hurry." "I'm not making trouble, grandma had an accident, I have to go too.But my dress is already torn to shreds, even if I'm not going to see grandma,can I go out wearing it?"

She shot Frederick an accusing look; after all, this was all his fault!

Frederick coughed lightly, feeling a bit guilty as he looked away,and immediately instructed his men to bring a set of clothes for Charlotte as well.

Then he said to her, "I didn't expect you would want to go back with me."

It was not surprising that Frederick thought this way, given the disappointment in Charlotte's eyes just now and her eagerness to escape, it was clear she didn't want to be involved with him..

Charlotte had put on her underwear and turned around somewhat helplessly.

She looked at Frederick and said, "It's not that I want to go back with you,I'm just worried about Grandma and want to see her. When I married into the Percy Family, everyone looked down on me. Some mocked me behind my back, while others insulted me to my face. During that time,only Grandma stood up for me."

Charlotte remembered Anouk's kindness, and a small smile finally appeared on her face. She continued, "Back then, Grandma stood up for me and introduced me to everyone herself. She showed them how much she valued me, so they'd think twice before speaking ill of me." "I will always remember Grandma's kindness to me, and now that she's had an accident, of course, I will go."

After hearing Charlotte's long speech, Frederick felt conflicted.

When she denied that she was returning to the Percy Estate for him,he felt a bit unhappy.

But when he heard that, at the beginning of their marriage, someone in the Percy Family dared to criticize her, he felt displeased.

No matter what Charlotte's status was before marrying him, she was his wife after marrying him.

Those people attacking Charlotte so recklessly wasn't because they didn't like her, but because they were dissatisfied with him. But instead of confronting him directly, they chose to disgustingly attack Charlotte.

Fortunately,Anouk helped her.

Otherwise, Frederick didn't dare to think how helpless and wronged Charlotte must have felt at that time.

Frederick thought about this and felt a bit of pain in his heart, as if something cold and hard suddenly became soft.

His mind was in turmoil, and he suddenly pulled Charlotte into his arms gently.

Charlotte was stunned for a moment by his action, not understanding what he wanted to do.

Just as Frederick was about to say something, the assistant knocked on the door with the clothes.

Charlotte heard the knock and quickly pulled away from his embrace,then hid a secret corner.

Frederick took the clothes, and the two of them changed as quickly as possible and rushed back to the Percy Estate.

When they arrived, Anouk's leg had already been put in a cast, the whole leg wrapped like a mummy.

Anouk was resting with her eyes closed, her expression pained, and her forehead hair soaked with sweat.

Frederick didn't disturb Anouk, just took a look and then caled the doctor outside to ask, "How is Grandma?"

"Mrs. Anouk Percy has broken a leg. Considering she fell from the second floor, it's fortunate that she only sustained a leg injury and suffered no further harm," the doctor answered truthfully.

Elderly individuals were naturally prone to osteoporosis,so falling from such a height without sustaining a head injury or intracranial bleeding was indeed very fortunate.

Charlotte asked with concern, "Will there be any lasting effects?"

Anouk's health was already not good,and she had a strong personality. If she were to be left with any disability after this, Charlotte worried that Anouk wouldn't be able to accept it. "There shouldn't be. I wiIl provide full treatment for Mrs. Anouk Percy.As long as she is properly cared for, there won't be any lasting effects,"the doctor reassured,very dedicated.
