Chapter 14

Right now, all Charlotte wanted was to get to the hospital ASAP.

She needed to make sure the baby was okay and check if this guy was healthy and not carrying any diseases.

Charlotte didn't blame the guy; she blamed herself for getting drunk.

If her little moment of fun caused any issues for the baby, she'd never forgive herself.

She grabbed all the cash from her wallet, placed it gently on the pillow,and got ready to sneak out.

But as she was getting dressed, she noticed her arm, inner thighs,the back of her hand, and her palm were all red, like they'd been rubbed raw.

"Oh,my god."

Seeing those marks and piecing together her fuzzy memories,Charlotte felt a chill run down her spine.

She knew these gigolos could be wild, but she didn't expect this one to be such a freak.

Feeling ashamed and angry, Charlotte grabbed her clothes and was about to leave when someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.She screamed in fright."Let go of me. I left all my cash for you. If it's not enough,I can transfer more." Charlotte stiffened, not daring to turn around,trying to stay calm. Hearing this, Frederick tightened his grip.

'This damn woman! She really thinks I'm the gigolo from last night!

He shouldn't have been so gentle last night and should've been rougher.

"Alright, how much are you planning to transfer to me?" Frederick's tone was cold and distant.

Hearing the familiar voice, Charlotte was stunned.

She turned her head in disbelief.

Seeing Frederick's face,she felt a huge sense of relief!

It was better to be with Frederick than with a stranger; at least she felt more at ease.

"Why is it you?"

Charlotte realized she might've said the wrong thing as soon as she spoke.

Sure enough, Frederick's aura got even colder, and his voice was filled with anger, "Then who did you think it was?"

Frederick's tone was mocking, "You've had sex with me countless times.Do you think that weak gigolo from last night could satisfy you?"

Charlotte heard his sarcasm and felt annoyed.So she snapped back, "Whether I'm satisfied or not has nothing to do with you. Just focus on satisfying Serena and mind your own business." "Why are you bringing her up?" Frederick frowned instinctively, "There's nothing between me and her. But you're the one who hired a gigolo out of loneliness."

Charlotte suddenly laughed, like she'd heard the funniest joke ever.

"Nothing between you and her? Frederick, I never realized you were such a hypocrite."

For years, she never doubted his words.

Frederick always prided himself on not lying. But now he was lying to her!

"What do you mean? Make yourself clear."

Frederick's eyes were sharp. "No matter what happens in the future,I've never betrayed or deceived you in our marriage. I don't do that."

Frederick was also angry that Charlotte was questioning his character.

Seeing him so self-righteous, Charlotte raised her voice too.

She said, "No betrayal? You brought Serena home overnight. No deception?You and her took a bath and made love in my bathtub. Isn't that what you did?"

"No! You're talking nonsense!"

Frederick shot back immediately, but then something clicked. "Wait, did you come home lookíng for me last night? And you talked to Serena at the door?" If that was true, it meant he hadn't misheard last night; it really was Charlotte's voice.Hearing this, Charlotte crossed her arms and sneered. "So you finally remember? Still gonna deny it?"

"Idiot! Did you actually see me and Serena in the bathroom together?From start to finish, you only saw Serena, right?" Frederick knocked her on the forehead.

Charlotte covered her forehead, her mind racing.

Yesterday,she indeed only saw Serena and didn't see them together.

'Could it be that it was all Serena's lies?

"Then where were you? You didn't answer my call, and you didn't show up. Who knows if you were hiding in the bathroom."

Charlotte grumbled, but her tone was less aggressive.

"I was in the study having an online meeting. You know the study is the most soundproof room. Remember when you were screaming on my desk?No one outside could hear a thing."

"Shut up!"

Charlotte didn't expect him to bring thatup and was so embarrassed she tried to cover his mouth.

Frederick took the chance to grab her hand and kissed it repeatedly.

"So you did come looking for me last night." Frederick stated this with certainty, feeling a bit better. "So what? Even if you didn't bathe together, you still brought Serena home and let her stay in my room, even wearing my gown." Charlotte pulled her hand away, still not ready to let this go.

Frederick pursed his lips.

He knew he messed up. Even if Serena begged him to discharge her,he should've arranged for her to stay somewhere else, at least until he and Charlotte were completely divorced.

Although he had let Serena stay in the guest room, she sneaked into the master bedroom while he was in a meeting.

Frederick wouldn't explain this.

On one hand, it would be bad for Serena if he said it. On the other hand,even if he explained, Charlotte might not believe him.

Charlotte didn't know what Frederick was thinking; she only saw his prolonged silence.

So her heart, which had just warmed a bit, turned cold again.

Indeed, she shouldn't have any expectations of him!

Frederick opened his mouth but didn't explain. He only said, "Let's make a deal. Before we're completely divorced, I won't have sex with Serena,and you can't go to bars or get involved with other men."

Charlotte was very disdainful of his words. "With your connections, you can track me even if I just have a drink. How could I have the chance to cheat? Instead of making demands on me,you should manage yourself better." Although Charlotte spoke toughly, she warned herself inwardly that this must never happen again. Now she recalled some memories from last night.

After Frederick saw her crying, he really didn't enter her again. Although he made her hands sore and body ache, he didn't harm her or the baby.

But if it had been a stranger last night, how could he have let her go?
