Chapter 299

Olivia was stunned. Why would Evelyn hack their subsidiary company?

Yet Nathaniel and Sebastian, who adored Evelyn, were absolutely thrilled.

Julian explained that Sebastian had been tutoring Evelyn in computer science, and he concluded that she had made remarkable progress.

Still, Olivia was baffled.

"Why would Evelyn hack the company’s system without reason? Did she discover something?"

Alexander clarified the situation.

Daniel cursed, "That witch Victoria! How dare she frame Evelyn like this? What are you going to do about this, Alexander? How will you explain yourself if Evelyn finds out later?"

Alexander replied coolly, "I’ll handle it. Give me a week to deal with Victoria."

Julian quickly added, "You’d better hurry. Evelyn plans to return to Nord City to live with us once she finishes her studies."

Even if Alexander found out about Evelyn’s pregnancy, he wouldn’t be able to stay angry at Julian and her—not after what Victoria had done.

Julian decided it was best to keep this a secret from Alexander for now. After all, if Alexander got furious, he wouldn’t hesitate to punch him.

They began discussing Evelyn’s return to Nord City.

Olivia chimed in, "Then I’ll have to go back to Nord City to make arrangements. Evelyn deserves nothing but the best."

They prepared lavish properties, luxury cars, and countless gifts to welcome her home.

Meanwhile, Evelyn sneezed the moment she stepped into her house. Was someone talking about her?

Margaret clasped her hands in excitement. "Evelyn, the money really went through!"

"Perfect. Things will only get better from here."

Suddenly, Margaret hesitated before speaking again. "Evelyn, remember when Alexander mentioned you returning to Nord City? After thinking about it for a while, I’ve decided to go with you—and bring Benjamin along."

"Really?"

Evelyn had been worried Margaret wouldn’t want to leave for an unfamiliar place. If she refused, Evelyn couldn’t possibly stay in Nord City permanently. She would never abandon Margaret, the woman who had raised her, just because she’d found her biological family.

"Of course. But before we leave, I’d like to say goodbye to my family. I won’t be coming back often in the future."

"Absolutely. But you can always visit during holidays."

Evelyn’s heart swelled with relief at Margaret’s agreement. Now, she could start planning her departure from Bern City.

The next day, Evelyn headed to the studio for her usual weekend shift.

Shortly after settling into her office, Jonathan walked in.

"Evelyn, you’re here too."

"You’re already out of the hospital?"

Evelyn hadn’t expected to see him so soon. She thought he’d be hospitalized for at least a few more days.

Jonathan smiled. "The doctor cleared me after a checkup. It’s just a minor injury—I just need rest. I can’t laze around in the hospital when there’s work to do here."

"Right. Just make sure you don’t overexert yourself. You’re not fully recovered yet."

"My mother’s been taking care of me these past few days. With her around, I’ll be fine."

Evelyn recalled her awkward encounter with Judith at his hospital room. Thankfully, they’d only met once. She couldn’t stand that woman.
