Chapter 91
Veda just now realized that Emily had been messing with her, trying to get a rise out of her the whole time.
If she had let her real feelings slip, she would've totaly blown her cover when she heard that line.
Good thing she kept her cool.
Veda put on her best innocent face and said, "Emily, what are you talking about? I just faked a divorce agreement, but I never meant to hurt you."
John had already figured out the secret from that phone call, but Veda knew that after three years, no one could find the record of that call. As long as she kept denying it, she'd be fine.
Emily stared at Veda, who was stilI playing innocent, with a cold glint in her eyes.
"Veda, I'm asking one last tíme. What did you do to me in our sophomore year?"
Veda looked at her, all confused, and said, "Emily, I have no idea what you're talking about."
Emily slowly stood up, towering over Veda, her presence downright scary, her clothes fluttering. "Veda, this is your last chance. Tell me how you set me up and who violated me, or else, don't blame me for what happens next!" Emily even remembered being locked up for about a week, but there was a blank spot in her memory. "It really wasn't me," Veda said, looking into her eyes, feeling a chill run down her spine. Sensing danger, Veda got up and tried to leave.
Emily just watched her go,feeling a bit amused.
She sat back down and looked at the surveillance cameras.
As soon as Veda left the attic, she heard some loud roars coming from the basement, making her heart race and her steps quicken.
Just as she stepped out of the villa, she saw two huge creatures in the yard, which made her shiver in fear.
They were two massive tigers, with fierce eyes, drooling mouths, growling lowly, clearly seeing her as prey.
Veda finally got why Emily let her go so easily-shecouldn't actually leave!
But why were there tigers here? They looked wild, with sharp claws, and their gaze locked directly on Veda.
Veda clung to the door, trembling all over. She was too scared to move.
And the two tigers were already charging towards her.
Veda turned and ran back. When she saw those rooms with their doors removed again, it finally clicked. Emily had planned this all along; she was trapping her like a rat in a cage. Stumbling and scrambling back upstairs, Veda tried to find Emily.Since Emily could bring tigers here, she must have a way to control them. But when Veda reached the attic, there was no sign of Emily, only the surveillance monitors still on, showing the tigers closing in on her.
In less than a minute, they'd surely find her by scent. But she had no idea where Emily was now.
Were there secret passages to escape from here?
She had to get away. Veda closed the attic door, blocking the tigers as they pounced. The roars outside were relentless.
Veda was shaking with fear. She didn't dare go out as she knew she couldn't outrun the tigers.
Luckily, the attic door was made of iron and could withstand the tigers'attacks.
Veda had a brief moment to catch her breath.
But the next second, a huge impact hit the door, causing the entire attic to shake.
She trembled all over. Her lips quivered and tears streamed down her face, terrified that she might die here.
But the sounds outside continued one after another.
Veda couldn't be sure if this door could resist the impact of two tigers. She hesitated for a few seconds, then suddenly realized she could call for help. But when she took out her phone, there was no signal. Veda seethed inwardly, 'Emily! You're ruthless! She would never have thought that the once cautious and somewhat timid Emily could become so cold-hearted one day.
What should she do now?
Veda stared at the last message on her phone, the one that she had sent John the address before she arrived, hoping he would come over so he could see how humiliated she was in front of Emily.
Maybe it could trigger John's protective instincts. John loved it when she relied on him. But before John could make it, the tigers came.
Just then, all the screens in the controlroom suddenly changed to show Emily, who was leisurely sitting in the yard.
Seeing her so relaxed, Veda screamed almost maniacally, "Emily! You dare to murder me! It's illegal."
Emily just smiled. "So what? I'm not afraid anyway."
Emily's tone was gentle when she said this, which made Veda feel extremely terrified.
Fear,terror,regret-all these emotions flooded Veda, almost causing her to collapse.
Veda had been pampered and sheltered since childhood, never encountering such a situation. It was a real threat to her life.
She had no doubt that Emily could really do it. Emily still smiled with a hint of darkness in her eyes. "You are ruthless, but I can be even more ruthless than you. They've been hungry for days, looking forward to a big meal. Maybe not even your bone will be left."Emily's voice echoed from all directions into her ears, along with the tigers clawing at the door outside.
Veda shrank in fear, feeling like she was in a huge hell, with Emily as the only savior.
Realizing the situation. Veda quickly apologized. "Emily, I was wrong. I won't compete with you for Mom and Dad anymore."
Veda knelt on the ground, crying bitterly. "I can give Mom and Dad back to you,and I can leave here forever. Please let me go."
At that moment. Veda suddenly heard a sound at the door.
The door had three locks. and the first lock was opened. The door shook even more violently.
Veda was slowto react, her brain momentarily stunned.
This door was fully automated and could be controlled remotely. Emily had a way to open it.
Veda heard the sharp scratching of the tiger's claws on the door. It made her physically uncomfortable.
Terrified, Veda shrank back, her gaze fixed on the screen.
Emily, with no hint of pity or urgency in her eyes, waved the remote control in her hand and pressed it again.
The tiger's claws reached in through the door crack. The roaring sounded as if it was right next to Veda's ear.
