Chapter 64
John turned back to look at Veda, her eyes all puffy from crying, looking really pitiful.
Veda said sadly, "I messed up. It's all because I feel so uneasy. John, do you know what people usually say about me? They all disapprove of me,and I can never hold my head up around them. I don't want it to be like this. I want to show everyone that I'm the daughter of the Johnson family."
She continued, "John, I love you so much, and I want to be with you.If I were part of the Johnson family, I'd definitely be worthy of you."
John lowered his head, looking at Veda's terrified eyes. She had always seen John as a deity.
John's gaze softened a bit, but his voice stayed cold. "Veda, this isn't the first time. You used Nora to frame Emily before, and I forgave you. And I've seen those things on your computer. This time, your malice is beyond my imagination. You've disappointed me too much."
John couldn't believe how the gentle Veda could turn so malicious.
Shock was clear in Veda's eyes. John had secretly looked at her computer,so he must know her password.
Veda clenched her fists, lowered her head, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes hidden by her hair. Given John's reaction, Veda figured he hadn't discovered about those secrets.
Veda breathed a sigh of relief. She was still crying as she walked step by step towards John, slowwly holding his hand. A tear fell on the back of her hand. "But I love you so much. I don't want you to have Emily in your
heart and ignore me. Please give me another chance. I don't want to break up with you."
The almost devout, crazy admiration in Veda's eyes made John feel like he was the most outstanding man in the world, while in front of Emily, he could only feel inferior and even have to grovel and please her.
The weather outside was cold. John saw Veda shivering, took her back to the car, and draped his coat over her.
Veda saw a slight softening in his eyes, gathered courage and spoke, "John,Emily actually wanted to divorce you a long time ago. Now being with James, she definitely wouldn't consider you her husband anymore. Before you came, she said she didn't want you and asked me to give you the divorce agreement. This is our voice conversation."
Veda took out her phone and played the so-called conversation.
In the recording, Emily's voice came over. "I agreed to divorce John a long time ago, but I just didn't expect the divorce agreement to be given by you.John truly loves you."
Emily's voice in the phone continued, "I disdain to have someone like John around anymore."
The voice stopped there, and the rest was Veda crying and saying that John was not like that. It gave a feeling of fervently showing loyalty in front of John.
But John's eyes became colder. 'It's voice recordings again.'
Last time, Emily explained she had never said those disparaging words about him, though he had heard them on voice recordings from Veda's phone.
Veda thought he would be angry at Emily after hearing what she said. Her courage rose, and she said directly, "By the way, the divorce agreement is with me. Emily has already signed it, and you should sign it too."
Veda pulled the divorce agreement out of her bag.
John's expression turned strange, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Did Emily really sign this?"
He unfolded the agreement and, sure enough, saw Emily's signature. The handwriting was definitely hers.
Emily had told Veda that as long as John signed the divorce agreement first.she would sign it.
But Veda knew John well. With his prideand arrogance,he would never sign it first. But if Emily did, he'd be on board. And with the voice recordings. John shouldn't have any doubts.
John stared at Emily's name, his heart pounding hard in his chest.Meanwhile, the memories seemed to be forcing their way out of his mind.
Emily would never speak in a monotone like a robort, but he had ignored that fact all these years. And regardless of whether Emily liked him now,she would never speak of him in such a derogatory manner. If not, in these three years, she could have caused a huge uproar.
Moreover, Emily would never sign a divorce agreement. They didn't even have a marriage certificate, so there was no need for divorce procedures.
Emily had already unilaterally announced the breakup and moved out of the Williams Mansion. But Veda didn't know.
So there was only one possibility left. Veda had drafted a divorce agreement herself, wanted him to sign it first, and then hand it to Emily. Both of them, with their pride, would not ask each other about the truth.Naturally, Emily would sign it.
John had never thought he would suspect Veda in such a malicious way.But it was the fact that Veda was deceiving him.
John's fingers tightly gripped the agreement, crumpling the papers. His eyes were filled with anger.
A pressure weighed on John's chest, making it almost hard for him to breathe.
Johna finally lifted his head, his voice terrifyingly cold. "Veda, are you sure this was signed by Emily?"
Veda seemed to see the restraint and almost anger in his eyes, suddenly feeling uneasy in her heart.
She thought. What happened to John suddenly? He wasn't so excited just now.
Veda pursed her lips and nodded."Yes."
At this moment, John felt a sudden void in his heart, and his breath was choked.
He was angry and his veins bulged on his forehead. He suddenly realized that he had been manipulated by Veda for so many years.
In front of him, Veda always looked pure and kind. She was weak and pitiful, willing to be a mistress for love, making him feel forever guilty towards her.
At this moment, John finally saw through Veda's hypocrisy. He was furious and slapped Veda hard with his hand.
Veda's face was turned away by the beating, and her head hit the car window glass. The pain made her vision turn black and she couldn't react for a long time.
Veda had never seen John so crazy. His eyes were instantly filled with red blood streaks.
Finally, John raised his head, his gaze cold, his voice terrifyingly cold."Veda, I will never trust you again."
