Chapter 137
Evelyn found herself trapped in Liam's strong embrace, tears streaming down her cheeks uncontrollably.
With each passing second, her inner turmoil intensified. She pressed her palms against Liam's chest, suddenly hearing his sharp intake of breath.
Startled, she glanced up at his shoulder. Crimson stains were spreading across his pristine white shirt.
All her resentment evaporated instantly like morning mist. "You're hurt!" she gasped, her voice shaking.
Liam ignored his injury, keeping his firm grip on her shoulders. "Stay away from him," he commanded sternly.
Evelyn's tear-filled eyes widened as she met Liam's intense gaze.
He lowered his head, his eyes tracing her swollen lips from their earlier kiss. A wave of guilt washed over him.
"I want to stay away too," Evelyn countered, "but he clings to me just like you are now. I've fought with all my strength but can't break free. What should I do?"
Her words weren't just about Julian - they were directed at Liam too. As she spoke, Liam loosened his grip slightly and stepped back.
Despite her explanation, Liam chose to trust her completely. "Why didn't you scream for help?" he asked calmly.
Evelyn wiped her tears, pouting. "He's shameless, but I must protect my dignity. Imagine if the whole household saw us like that. The gossip would never end."
Liam fell silent.
As Evelyn moved past him to get the first aid kit, she muttered, "You're so quick to judge. Accusing me of betraying our marriage while you're no better."
"You—" Her words were cut off as Liam suddenly kissed her again. Her heart raced uncontrollably, cheeks flushing with mixed emotions.
"How dare you treat me this way?" she protested. "You're still entangled with Victoria yet refuse to divorce me."
"You forbid me from doing things you do yourself. That's crossing the line."
Despite her complaints, her hands were gentle as she approached with medical supplies. Her clear eyes held tender concern.
"Sit down. Let me check your wound."
Liam felt no physical pain, but his emotions were in turmoil. His intense gaze lingered on Evelyn's flushed face, making her pulse quicken.
That single impulsive kiss had awakened something primal in him. The memory of her soft lips was intoxicating.
"Sit down, let me—" she began, but his scorching stare made her words falter.
Her dewy eyes became the spark that ignited Liam's suppressed desire. In one swift motion, he pulled her close again.
One arm encircled her waist while the other cradled her head as he claimed her lips passionately.
Evelyn gasped. Her lips still tingled from their first kiss, now throbbing with renewed intensity.
Was he teasing her again?
She pushed against his chest, but this time his kiss left her dizzy and enchanted. Her resistance melted like snow in spring.
