Chapter 134

Evelyn was stunned by Julian's raw display of emotion. The tears streaming down his face revealed depths she'd never imagined.

For a man like Julian Whitmore to break down like this - the intensity of his feelings must be overwhelming.

As shock coursed through her, Evelyn studied the subtle tremble of Julian's lips, the way his fingers twitched at his sides, trying to decipher the storm raging behind his eyes.

Before she could process anything, Julian suddenly yanked her into a crushing embrace.

"Let go!" Evelyn struggled violently against his iron grip. "What are you doing? Release me this instant!"

Julian only held tighter, burying his face in the crook of her neck. His voice came out ragged, broken. "I love you so damn much. Why must you always be so cruel? Before the amnesia...after...it never changes."

Despite her frantic efforts, Evelyn couldn't break free. His arms were like steel bands, squeezing the breath from her lungs. She could feel the sharp ache in her shoulders from the pressure.

His love felt like a prison.

Finally going limp, Evelyn stood frozen like a porcelain doll. Through clenched teeth, she hissed, "Dr. Whitmore, if you don't release me right now, I'll scream this hospital down."

"Evelyn, I love you," Julian whispered desperately against her hair. "Give me one chance. Just one."

Her heart remained cold, untouched. "I don't love you."

"Divorce Liam. Be with me." Julian's voice turned feverish. "I'll make you happier than he ever could. I'll-"

A powerful force wrenched Julian away mid-sentence, sending him sprawling onto the linoleum floor.

Evelyn stumbled back in shock. When her vision cleared, Liam stood between them like an avenging angel, his expression thunderous, eyes glinting with lethal ice.

Julian rose slowly, brushing imaginary dust from his lab coat with deliberate calm. "Just catching up with an old flame. No need for theatrics."

Evelyn had never seen Liam like this - the aura of violence around him could have frozen hell itself. Despite being the wronged party, guilt twisted in her stomach like she'd been caught in some sordid affair.

Liam's glacial gaze locked onto Julian. "Your version of catching up involves assault? Shall I book you a suite?" he asked, voice dripping with venom.

Instead of rising to the bait, Julian smirked, his tone saccharine. "That would be lovely, actually."

Hot tears pricked Evelyn's eyes. She'd thought Liam came to rescue her, only to be humiliated further. How could he suggest something so degrading?

Her heart sank like a stone.

Did he truly believe she'd welcome such advances? That she deserved this?

In a flash, Liam had Julian pinned against the wall, his grip brutal. "Touch her again," he growled, "and I'll break every bone in your body."

Despite the sweat beading on his forehead, Julian maintained his mocking smile. "Funny," he taunted, "you didn't seem to remember having a wife when you were cozying up to Victoria."
