Chapter 91

Sophia hung around the branch office all day,but Isabella was a no-show.

After asking around, she found out Isabella had been promoted and was now at the company headquarters.

So, she began frequenting the Johnson Group headquarters, arriving punctually every day.

She did spot Isabella, but she was never alone. Michael always walked her to the entrance and made sure she got inside.

Sophia was too scared of Michael to make a move.

One day, Michael had to leave early with Aaron and Jerry for some business.

When Isabella arrived at the office, it was Robert by her side this time,not Michael. Sophia's heart leapt at the unexpected opportunity.

"Isabella!" she called out, hurrying to catch up as Isabella was about to go in.

"Sophia?" Isabella turned, looking puzzled."What are you doing here?"

Sophia said, "Isabella, Aiden misses you. He wants you to come back and see him."

Hearing Aiden's name made Isabella's heart ache. She thought, 'He sold me to Michael for money, and now he says he misses me?

With that thought, Isabella coldly replied, "I'm not going. He sold me for money,so he has no right to say he misses me."

Sophia tried to convince her, "Isabella, he's your dad. He's worked so hard all these years,raising you alone."

Isabella laughed bitterly. "Sophia, don't you feel guilty saying that?"

She couldn't even pretend to respect Sophia anymore. For someone so shameless,respect was unnecessary. She mocked, "Since I can remember,

he never supported me. It was Grandma who raised me by collecting recyclables. You say he worked hard raising me? What a joke."

Sophia dropped her act and snapped, "Isabella, the money Ella made would have been ours if it weren't for you. So even though we didn't give you money, the money you spent was still ours!"

Isabella was speechless. She had never met anyone so shameless. It was pointless to argue with Sophia.

"Are you done? I'm leaving," Isabella said coldly.

"No!" Sophia grabbed Isabella's arm and wouldn't let go. "Isabella,your dad really misses you. He's been crying so pitifully. It broke my heart.Please just go back and see him!"

Isabella didn't believe her and said coldly, "Fine. If you return the money Michael gave you, I'll continue the father-daughter relationship with Aiden.

Seeing more people arriving for work, Sophia raised her voice, "Isabella,your dad just misses you. No matter how busy you are, you should take some time to see him. We're getting old; we don't care about money.We just hope you visit us often!"

Her voice was so loud that people started to stop and watch.

Isabella was new to the company, and not many people knew her, but she didn't want to be the center of attention. She tried to break free from Sophia's grip, but Sophia was surprisingly strong, probably using all her strength to hold on. No matter how Isabella struggled, she wouldn't let go.

More and more people were gathering, and Isabella noticed Bronte getting out of a car and walking towards them. Not wanting to give Bronte any leverage, Isabella quickly agreed, "Fine, I'll go back tonight."

Sophia shouted joyfully, "Really? Great! Go to work now. We'll wait for you at home tonight."

After shouting, she leaned close to Isabella's ear and whispered, "Isabella,if you don't come back, I'll wait for you at your company entrance every day. I have plenty of time."

Sophia's voice sounded like it came from the depths of hell, making Isabella shiver. She quickly broke free from Sophia and walked into the company.

"Who was that woman? Why was she bothering you?" A familiar voice came through. Jeremy suddenly appeared at the company entrance,blocking Isabella's way.

Isabella was startled and looked up at Jeremy, who stood with his hands in his pockets, smiling kindly.

Anyone who didn't know better might think they were gazing at each other lovingly.

To avoid making Isabella think he was a stalker, Jeremy explained, "I saw her at the entrance and thought she seemed hostile, so I didn't go upstairs.I was worried she might harm you. This woman has been hanging around for days. She probably didn't dare to bother you when she saw Michael escorting you."

Isabella was surprised by Jeremy's concern and felt a bit flattered.Considering he had said he was friends with Michael, she honestly told him, "She's my stepmother. We haven't been in touch fora long time.She came to find me, saying my dad misses me."

"Oh, you should go back. Don't forget to let Michael know." Seeing more and more people arriving, Jeremy slipped into the CEO's private elevator,leaving Isabella standing there, stunned by his last words.

Bronte stood behind Isabella, patting her shoulder and speaking ambiguously, "Isabella, I saw everything just now."

Isabella didn't understand. So what if she saw? Many colleaguessaw it too.

She didn't want to deal with Bronte. Just then, the elevator arrived, and she quickly stepped in. Bronte also hurried in.

Coincidentally, they were the only two in the elevator.

Bronte said sarcastically, "Isabella, you're something else. Just a few days here,you're already aIl over Mŕ. Wright. But let me give you some advice:Mr. Wright isn't someone you can flirt with. Even though he's not married,he has someone he likes. And that person isn't someone you can mess with."

Isabella was amazed by Bronte's imagination.

Jeremy had only said a couple of words to her, and every sentence was about Michael. Bronte knew nothing and just assumed she was trying to seduce Jeremy.Wasn't that slander?

"Crazy!" Isabella felt like she hadn't encountered a single normal thing all morning. She didn't want to talk to Bronte anymore. When they reached the design department floor, she walked straight to her office.

Bronte was so angry she stomped her feet. She thought, 'This Isabella is too hateful. The reason she looks down on everyone is that she thinks Jeremy will help her,right?'

'Isabella, I won't let you have it easy!' Bronte swore to herself.

Then she saw a colleague who liked to gossip and quickly went over to share this, "Hey, let me tell you, this morning I saw Isabella and Mr.Wright standing together, looking very close. I don't know what they were talking about."

By noon, rumors were everywhere. The latest version was that Isabella and Jeremy were hugging and being affectionate.
