Chapter 40

Kathie crossed her arms, glaring at him with disdain. "Do you still think it s too hot now?"

Jonathan finally realized the water wasn't as hot as he thought. He had assumed the bubbling water would scald him, but it was just a bit warmer than his bathwater at home.

He coughed twice. "You looked so fierce anddidn't explain clearly."

Kathie shrugged. "I told you it was fine, but you didn't believe me. What else could I do? Being straightforward works with you."

Jonathan gritted his teeth. This annoying Kathie always found ways to mess with him.

"At least I'm still injured. Aren't you afraid I'll drown?" he retorted.

"If it really comes to that, I'll just plan your funeral," Kathie teased.

Jonathan was speechless. She really was a heartless woman.

"Alright, I don't want to argue with you. Get out in half an hour," Kathie continued.

Kathie was about to turn around when Jonathan suddenly shouted,"Watch out, there's a snake behind you."

Kathie panicked for a moment but quickly calmed down. He must be lying to scare her as revenge for pushing him into the water.

"Do you think I'm stupid? I'm not falling for the same trick twice," she said.

"I'm not lying. There's a snake about six feet behind you, moving closer."

Kathie felt a bit panicked but stubbornly lifted her chin. "Even if there were ten snakes. I wouldn't be scared."

Jonathan sighed. "You'll regret it later."

"I don't have time to play with you. I'll wait up front." Kathie turned around and indeed saw a black snake. She screamed and jumped into the water, landing right in Jonathan's arms.

To be precise, Jonathan had anticipated what would happen when she turned around, so he opened his arms to catch her.

Kathie clung to him like a sloth, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.

Jonathan stifled a laugh. "Do you believe me now?"

Kathie was trembling, burying her head in his chest, too scared to look up."You should have explained it clearly."

Jonathan felt wronged. "I did explain, but you didn't listen. What could I do?"

Kathie had said something similar earlier, now feeling a bit embarrassed. "Check if the snake is gone."

Jonathan teased, "Oh no, it's coming towards us. It looks like it's getting into the water."

"Ah!" Kathie screamed, tightening her grip, causing Jonathan's body to react immediately.

This woman was really confusing him. Every time she got close, it stirred his desires.

Kathie's clothes were wet, and he could faintly see her pink underwear through the clinging fabric. Her smooth back and toned abs were clearly Feeling Jonathan's body aroused, Kathie shamefully looked up, meeting his lustful gaze, as if he wanted to ravish her right there.

"Don't look, or you'll regret it," Kathie warned.

Jonathan glanced at the shore. "The snake's in the water."

Kathie clung tighter, terrified. "Get rid of the snake, I'm scared."

Snakes were common in the mountains, and Kathie was always afraid of them.rarely getting close.

She had come to treat him, not expecting to encounter her worst fear.

Jonathan held her and slowly moved back. "Kiss me, and I'll get rid of it."

Kathie was speechless.

"You're taking advantage of me," she whispered, gritting her teeth. In front of a snake, she was just a scaredy-cat.

Jonathan sighed. "I'm risking my life to get rid of the snake. Just give me some courage."

Kathie hated being threatened. "No way. We can both get bitten."

Jonathan let go. "You're right. At least we'll have company. It's getting closer, swimming around."

Kathie shivered at his description, goosebumps rising. She had no choice but to grab his face and kiss him hard. "Is that enough? Now get rid of the snake."

Jonathan was thrilled. He loved this feeling.

He pretended to wave a towel, holding her waist with one hand. Kathie was incredibly tempting, with her curvy figure and refreshing scent.making him want to make love to her.

If he could, he'd pin her down and take her right now.

Feeling his Adam's apple bobbing, Kathie puzzled. "Is it gone?"

"Not yet."

Jonathan didn't want to let go. Even though he was injured, he held on.

His friends always teased him for being cold, never imagining he'd aet so shamelessly.

Kathie felt it shouldn't take this long. She cautiously looked up, seeing no snake, just him waving a towel in the water.

He didn't realize she had caught on.

Kathie deliberately asked, "Seven, is the snake gone?"

Jonathan was enjoying himself. "Not yet. Hold on tighter."

Kathie bit his shoulder hard, making him let go.

She climbed ashore, checked for the snake, and then scolded him, "You're such a pervert, taking advantage of me."

Jonathan laughed. "Dr. Cavendish, be fair. Did I force you to hug me? You jumped into my arms. If anything, you seduced me."

Kathie gritted her teeth. "The snake was gone long ago, but you wouldn't let go."

Jonathan looked innocent. "I just got rid of it. You must have missed it."

"You..." Kathie was at a loss, feeling taken advantage of but unable to argue.

Jonathan sighed. "I meant well but got misunderstood. Next time, don't ask me for help. I don't want to be seen as a pervert."

Kathie was sure he was messing with her.

"Seven, you'd better not let me catch you, or you'll regret it," she said.

Jonathan admired her perfect body, gesturing up and down. "Dr.Cavendish, you have a great figure."

Kathie quickly covered herself. "You jerk, shameless."

Watching her run dff in a panic, Jonathan couldn't help but laugh.Sparring with her was so much fun. Spending a lifetime like this wouldn't be so bad.

Half an hour later, Kathie helped him up, checking his condition.

Jonathan saw her stern face, still angry.

Kathie was indeed angry. She had never lost her composure like this.

"Are you still mad? I'll apoogize," Jonathan said.

Kathie stayed silent. and Jonathan reached out.

"If you're really mad, hit me," he continued.

"Seven, are you married? When will you regain your memory?" Kathie suddenly asked.

If he was single, their interactions were more acceptable. But if he had a family, Kathie needed to keep her distance.

Jonathan firmly assured, "I promise I'm not."

Kathie was skeptical. "How can you be sure? An amnesiac can't be certain. We should keep our distance. If you do this again, I'll use a needle to keep you in check."

Jonathan fell silent.
