Chapter 22

It was all these ridiculous school regulations that made Kathie's situation so difficult.

She took a deep breath to calm down. Killing him wasn't an option. She needed to figure out his real motive.

"What do you want to cooperate? Money?" Kathie asked.

Randy looked Kathie up and down. Even in her simple home clothes, her impressive figure was undeniable. How had he not noticed back then?

It was all Shirley's fault for constantly seducing him, making him overlook Kathie.

Randy said maliciously, "We dated for years and never had sex. If you agree to sleep with me once a mnonth, I'll let your kids go to school."

This damned Randy. He had looked down on her back then, and now he wanted to sleep with her? What a delusional fool.

Kathie calmly took out her phone and called Shirley. Once the call connected, she continued, "Doesn't this betray Shirley? She's been with you for four years without a proper title, mocked by others. If my kids get in,your son won't have a chance."

"Don't worry about her. My heart has always been with you, Kathie. I've always loved you. She used the child to threaten me. I never wanted to betray you. Your kids are my kids. If you agree to my terms,I'll do whatever you want."

Randy's words were so heartfelt that Shirley, on the other end of the line, wanted to kill him.

She couldn't believe the man who had seduced her, claiming to love only her,was saying such things behind her back. He knew how much she loved him and wanted to give their child a proper status. Yet, he shamelessly tried to please Kathie, giving away their son's school spot.

"So,you don't want a divorce anymore?" Kathie asked.

"Yes. I just want you."

"Get my kids enrolled first, and then I'll agree."

Randy grinned. "No way. What if you back out later? Maybe we should do it in the car right now. You haven't tried that, have you?"

Kathie clenched her jaw. If murder were legal, she'd have Randy dissected for medical experiments.

She lied to him. "I'm busy today. How about tomorrow?"

Hearing her relent, Randy was overjoyed. "Great, I'll book a hotel for tomorrow. Dress nicely. Don't waste that great body of yours."

Kathie looked at him like disdainfully. "Got it. Now get lost."

Satisfied,Randy left. Kathie picked up her phone, hearing Shirley's anguished screams.

Kathie found it amusing. "Shirley, you heard everything, right? This is the man you schemed to steal.Still like him?"

Shirley was on the verge of breaking down. "Kathie, you're shameless. To get your brats into school, you seduced Randy, making him betray me.I won't let you get away with this."

"Watch your mouth. As a homewrecker, you have no right to talk. Now .your man is getting my kids into school. You should figure out what to do. Kathie hung up, leaving Shirley to stew in her misery.

Jonathan woke up to the sound of children laughing outside, which lifted his spirits.

He was starting to enjoy this peaceful life, free from scheming and conflicts, not having to constantly fend off those plotting against him.

Eileen gently pushed open the door, peeking in. "You're awake."

Jonathan's heart melted at the sight of her cute face. "Eileen, you're up early. What are you playing outside?"

"We're playing soccer!" Eileen replied.

Kyle peeked in too, waving at him. "Sir, come play soccer with us."

Jonathan fell silent.

He couldn't even stand, let alone play soccer.

Jonathan was helpless. "Thanks, Kyle, but I'm injured and can't play."

Zachary squeezed in. "Then you cana be the goalie. You don't have to kick."

Jonathan forced a smile. "Thanks for thinking of such a good position for me."

Zachary proudly patted his chest. "No problem. It'll give you some exercise.

Jonathan remained silent. He didn't want to move, especially not with two rambunctious boys. It would only worsen his injuries.

"Are you scared to play?" Kyle pressed when he didn't respond.

Jonathan smiled helplessly. He didn't want to play, butthankfully,Kathie came in to stop this dangerous activity. "NNo. Seven is still recovering. If he gets hurt again, it'll be a big problem,"Kathie intervened.

Jonathan sighed in relief, but Eileen tugged at her mom. "Mommy, when are you and Seven getting married?"

Jonathan and Kathie exchanged glances. Kathie was speechless. "Eileen, why are you asking that?"

Eileen was serious. "You both took a bath together and kissed. On TV.that means you have to get married. If the man doesn't take responsibility,he's a jerk."

Kathie had a headache. "It's not what you think."

Kyle looked grave. "So, Mommy wants to abandon him?"

Kathie was awkwardly silent.

This was hard to explain. Kathie tried to soothe them. "Those were accidents. As a doctor, I was taking care of him. It was just a misunderstanding."

Zachary shook his head. "Mommy, you can't fool us with that."

Jonathan chuckled, earning a warning look from Kathie. It was all his fault for causing this mess.

Jonathan shrugged helplessly. Her three kids were sharper than any negotiator he'd met. No one could handle them.

To shut them up, Kathie had to come up with a temporary solution. "Seven has amnesia. We can't be sure if he's married. What he says is just a guess. If he has a family, you wouldn't want Mommy to break it up, right?"
