Chapter 99

Jonathan twirled the fork in his hand, a cold smile playing on his lips. "So,what's your plan to chill out?"

The blond guy eyed Kathie. "If you let that pretty lady next to you drink with us, wve'll let it slide."

"Yeah. let her drink with us, or we'll mess you up so bad you won't be able to stand," the other thugs chimed in.

Kathie shot Jonathan a look, her hand already gripping a silver needle.

Jonathan nodded. "Alright, you can have her."

The blond guy rubbed his hands together, grinning. "Today's my lucky day, meeting such a gorgeous babe."

As he eagerly reached out to grab Kathie, he suddenly felt a sharp pain and collapsed, convulsing on the ground. The others stopped laughing and stared at her in horror. "What the helljust happened?"

"What the hell just happened?"

Kathie feigned innocence. "What happened to him? Why'd he fall?"

Jonathan added, "I said you could have her. Whether you can handle her or not is up to you."

The remaining thugs, refusing to believe in any trickery, rushed forward.Kathie raised her hand, and they saw a flash of something before feeling their bodies go numb.

Jonathan picked up a bottle and threw it at them, causing them allto collapse.

"She's got hidden weapons," the blond guy finally realized.

Kathie smied sweetly. "You're right. If you dare insult me. I can mnake sure you never have kids."

She quickly moved to the blond guy's side, sticking several needles into his head, rendering him immobile and trembling with fear. "Who are you?"

Kathie dusted off her hands. "I'm someone who deals with scum like you.I've just put needles in your head1. If you ever insult women or commit more crimes, you'll be dead."

The blond guy shookhis head frantically. "I won't do it again, I swear."

The others didn't dare approach. Kathie removed the needles. "Pay up and get lost. Don't ruin our evening."

The blond guy quickly handed over money and left with his crew, not daring to think of anything else.

Everyone in the restaurant applauded, clearly having suffered from the blond thug's antics before.

The owner brought over two bottles of wine, grateful. "Thank you both for dealing with those thugs. They always bully our customers, and we've been too scared to do anything. Hopefully, they'll back off now."

Kathie and Jonathan exchanged a smile, surprised that a simple meal had turned into an act of justice.

Jonathan nodded calmly. "No problem, we just taught them a lesson."

The owner was enthusiastic. "Tonight's on the house. You're welcome here anytime."

The owner thought that if they came by often, the thugs wouldn't dare show up again.

Kathie shook her head. "We'll take the wine, but we'Il still pay. We just

don't like seeing people get bullied. No need to thank us."

The owner was deeply grateful. "Take your time eating. Let me know if you need anything."

Jonathan nodded, reflecting on how unexpected and interesting life had become with Kathie by his side. His life had once been all about work, never stopping to enjoy the scenery. Now, it felt pretty good.

Especially with Kathie around, he felt a sense of belonging.

They had just returned to the hotel when Dennis knocked on the door, looking anxious.

Jonathan frowned. "Dennis, what's going on?"

Dennis was tense. "Mr. Berkeley, Austin and his wife are missing."

Jonathan stood up, and Kathie glanced at him before sitting back down."

What do you mean they're missing? Did they go out and not come back,or is it something else?"

Dennis replied, "All their stuff is gone, even Mr. Roberts' assistant is missing. I checked their room, and they took all their luggage."

"They took their luggage? Could they have gone back home?"

Kathie was puzzled. "That doesn't make sense. They just agreed to work with you and were supposed to leave with us tomorrow. They seemed sincere."

Jonathan frowned. Even if they wanted to leave, they wouldn't do it so quietly.

"Check the hotel surveillance immediately and see if they really left. Also, check flight informnation."

"Got it. I'll get on it right away!"

Dennis ran out quickly, while Jonathan fell into deep thought. Something felt off.

Kathie thought for a moment. "I'll check their room. Maybe I can find some clues."

Jonathan nodded. "Tll go with you."

Kathie wheeled Jonathan to Austin' room. Their belongings were indeed gone, and the room was spotless, leaving almost no trace.

Jonathan sighed. "Could he have changed his mind and decided not to work with me, leaving like this?"

"From what I've seen these past few days, he doesn't seem like the type to leave without a word. There might be another reason." Kathie had a gut feeling they wouldn't leave like this.

But the situation was right in front of them, making it hard not to believe.

Kathie noticed the neatly made bed and curiously lifted the blanket, revealing a fresh bloodstain. "Look, there's blood here. It's fresh, less than an hour old. Something must have happened while we were away."

Thinking about how they were followed earlier, Jonathan's expression turned serious. "Could Flynn be retaliating against Mr. Roberts?"

"Possibly. Call him and find out." Kathie also suspected Flynn.

Jonathan immediately called Flynn, but a rough, aggressive female voice answered,"Who is it? From now on, if you want to talk to Flynn, you need my permission."

"Mrs. Campbell, this is Jonathan. I need to speakto Mr. Campbell urgently.

"

Grace knew who Jonathan was and said, "Hold on. I'll get him."

A few seconds later, Flynn's grumbling voice came through, "Jonathan, you hypocrite, you've got me in trouble. This fierce woman has locked me up.and I can't even leave the house."

Jonathan felt uneasy. "You haven't gone out? What about Mr. Roberts?"

Flynn snapped. "How should I know? Wasn't he with you? I'm telling you, this isn't over. Don't get too cocky. Someone will deal with you eventually.

Jonathan hung up, sensing that Flynn had nothing to do with this.

Flynn had no reason to do such a thing. Losing a big client, he could still find others; there was no need to resort to violence.

Jonathan gripped his phone tightly, a name flashing in his mind.

He quickly said, "I think I know who did this. Kathie, can you contact Mr.Barnes? Offer him any amount to help us find Mr. Roberts and his wife tonight."

Jonathan never thought he'd have to ask her for help.

In this special situation, going through legal channels wouldn't work.

These people would only use underhanded methods to take someone, and he had to do the same to get them back quickly.

Kathie nodded. "No problem, I'll eall Mr. Barnes right away."
