Chapter 82

Frederick sneered, his eyes cold as ice. "Mr. Percy, that's too much!"

Jasper stepped in front of Charlotte, blocking Frederick's view.

He and Frederick locked eyes. Although Jasper was usually gentle and never argued with anyone, at this moment, his aura was nó less intimidating than Frederick's.

Sparks flew between them.

Jasper's eyes were cold, but he still took the initiative to speak to everyone,

"Charlotte and I have been old friends for many years. Of course,we would greet each other. Sorry for the misunderstanding."

The doctor who had been joking earlier laughed dryly, "So you two are childhood friends. We misunderstood."

They wanted to brush the matter off, but Frederick's face darkened even more upon hearing the term "childhood friends."

"Jasper, do you think having a reputation for seducing a married woman is something to be proud of?" Frederick's voice was low, almost making the matter explicit.

Jasper was a bit surprised. He raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Percy, you have quite the jealousy. But before you hold others accountable, have you ever considered if you set a good example yourself?"

After speaking, Jasper's gaze subtly fell on Serena, making his point very clear.

He was implying that Frederick should take care of his affairs before meddling in others'.

Frederick's eyes darkened. "What does this have to do with you?"

Everyone present held their breath, not daring to breathe loudly, fearing they might accidentally offend Frederick.

Jasper smiled faintly.

He said. "I'm just saying, don't be so hypocritical. If you're not good to her, there are plenty of people who would be, even better than you."

Charlotte felt a headache coming on.

Jasper's words were practically a provocation, making it seem like there was something between them.

Even if others didn't misunderstand, they would now.

Frederick's domineering presence was evident as he said in a deep voice."I said, this is none of your business. Even if I don't want something, I won't allow others to touch it."

This was Frederick's most genuine thought.

When he proposed the divorce, he had specifically created a maintenance agreement to ensure that Charlotte wouldn't be touched by anyone else, no matter who it was.

"Enough!" Charlotte shouted. She looked at Frederick and said, "I'm not your possession. I'm a living person. My choices don't need your approval!

After saying this, Charlotte ran out, not wanting to stay and embarrass herself with Frederick.

Did Frederick think dliscussing such matters in public was honorable?

Jasper gave Frederick a deep look and then chased after her.

The remaining people in the room didn't know what to do,fearing they might be implicated and targeted by Frederick.

Serena's eyes followed Jasper's figure until he completely disappeared at the door, then she retracted her gaze.

Serena felt a sense of loss. In her heart, Jasper was always different.

"Doctor, continue," Serena said, asking the doctorto continue examining Frederick.

"Alright." The doctors, having received permission, got back to work. This time, they were very straightforward and directly told Frederick that he could be discharged and recuperate at home.

Frederick ignored them and just drove them out.

Serena watched from the side, not daring to say anything to Frederick.wanting to remain unnoticed.

Midnight.

Charlotte refused Taylor's invitation to stay and returned to the Percy Villa, mainly because Jasper had also moved into Taylor's apartment.

They were siblings, so it was fine for them, but it was inconvenient for her, especially since Jasper had just confessed to her.

Charlotte tiptoed into the living room. The house was pitch black. She didn't turn on the lights, not wanting to disturb anyone, and just wanted to go upstairs to rest. As soon as she stepped on the stairs, she heard Frederick's hoarse voice in the darkness. "You still know to come back?"

Frederick was smiling, but it was a cold smile, making Charlotte feel uneasy.

As she turned around, the living room lights came on, and the bright light momentarily blinded her.

When Charlotte reopened her eyes, Frederick was already in front of her.

"What are you doing here?" Charlotte didn't answer but asked back.

Frederick's expression was cold, but his eyes were dark as he stared at her."Were you with Jasper just now? Alone with him until midnight, afraid nothing would happen?"

Charlotte frowned. "Do you have to be so aggressive? I was at my friend's house. Jasper is her brother. That's all there is to our relationship. Why do you always have to assume the worst about mne?"

"Is it me assuming the worst, or are you feeling guilty?" Frederick grabbed her wrist.

"Let go! You're hurting me!" Charlotte cried out in pain but didn't struggle because she knew if she did, he would grip tighter.

Frederick wrapped his arm around her waist, turning and pushing them both onto the sofa.

He pinned Charlotte beneath him, his eyes red. "Why can't you just behave? Why do you have to leave me?" Charlotte almost laughed in anger at his words, "And what about you and Serena? What were you thinking when you were entangled with her? Is it me wanting to leave, or are you going too far? If Serena is the one you want, what difference does it make if I stay or go?"

She hadn't wanted to bring up anything about Serena.

Frederick's expression was cold, his eyes filled with dark emotions. "Do you also think I'm hypocritical? Charlotte, look me in the eye and tell me,have you ever caught me being ambiguous with Serena? When have I ever said I wanted to leave you?"

"No ambiguity?"

Charlotte almost laughed in anger, "Then explain why Serena is pregnant! If there's nothing between you two, how did she get pregnant? Is she a hermaphrodite?"

"That was an accident!" Frederick's voice was cold as he forced her to face him.

"Whatever, you say it was an accident, then let's call it an accident."Charlotte looked at him,her tone filled with sorrow.

She couldn't believe Frederick was such a person, someone who wouldn't take responsibility.

"Charlotte, I didn't say anything before because I didn't want to, but I can tell you, the night Serena returned, I picked her up from the airport. We drank too much at dinner, and that's how that night happened. But after that, I never touched her again. You know, she drugged me that day,and I didn't even touch her!"

Frederick didn't remember, but he saw the records of what he had done. When he saw that Serena had drugged him and was caught by Anouk and Charlotte, he became suspicious of Serena.

Charlotte's emotions were complicated.

He was doing it again.

Every time she decided to leave, to completely break away,Frederick would make her waver.

Charlotte looked at him, her eyes dark. "But what does it matter? What's done is done. Serena is pregnant. Are you saying you'll never touch her again after you marry her? Frederick, do you know how much it hurts me when you torment my heart like this? I'd rather you give me a clean break than keep dragging this out."

"No, I won't allow it."

Frederick felt a bit panicked.

He could use the records from his amnesia to understand what had happened in the past month, but he couldn't figure out how he had managed to keep Charlotte from leaving before.

He had made her give up the idea of leaving before, but now he had messed it up again.

For the first time in his life, Frederick felt defeated. He wanted to make up but didn't know how.

He said,"I won't allow you to leave me. You can't, and you mustn't leave me!"
