Chapter 80

Hospital.

Charlotte felt her nose itch and wanted to sneeze.

The sneeze didn't come out, leaving her feeling stifled. She opened her eyes and met Frederick's gaze.

She found herself lying on a hospital bed, while Frederick sat beside her, using a strand of her hair to tickle her nose.

"Are you crazy?" Charlotte sat up angrily, glaring at him.

No wonder she felt uncomfortable in her dream; it turned out Frederick was playing tricks on her.

"You slept so deeply that you didn't wake up even after coming back from the office to the hospital, making me, the patient, give up my spot.I woke her up, but she didn't appreciate it."

Frederick's tone was teasing, making Charlotte blush.

She then realized she had taken over Frederick's bed.

Her cheeks instantly burned as she got off the bed and asked, "When did you come back from the office? Why didn't I know? Why didn't you call me when you were at the office?"

She paused, then scrutinized Frederick. "Wait! I remember locking the break room door before I fell asleep. How did you get in?"

Frederick's lips curled into an uncontrollable smile, and Charlotte finally realized the key point. He calmly took out a key. "That's my territory. How could I not have a key?"

"You didn't take advantage of me, did you?" Charlotte cursed herself for being careless and quickly checked her clothes, fearing that Frederick might have taken liberties with her without her knowing.

"What do you think?" Frederick smiled mischievously, answering ambiguously on purpose.

He hadn't done anything to Charlotte. After finishing work, he had secretly kissed her forehead and, seeing how soundly she was sleeping, couldn't bear to wake her. But when she didn't wake up even after returning to the hospital room, he had to wake her out of concern for her health.

"You didn't do anything to me, right?" Charlotte checked herself thoroughly and found nothing unusual, but she still didn't trust Frederick easily.

"If you're so eager for me to do something, I can make up for it now."Frederick's lips curled into a wicked smile as he slowly approached her.

Charlotte could feel his breath on her cheek. She wanted to push him away, but a voice inside her wished they could stay like this forever, without any barriers between them. She didn't want to be apart from him.

The distance between them grew shorter, the atmosphere became more intimate, and the air grew warmer.

"Frederick!" Serena's voice came from the doorway. She stood there holding a bouquet of daisies, looking heartbroken as if she might shatter at any moment.

"Why are you here now? Where were you yesterday?" Frederick straightened up and moved away from Charlotte, but his gaze towards Serena was no longer warm.

"I went to pay my respects to my family. Even though they're gone, I still miss them. I'm sorry I didn't tell you in advance." Serena lowered her head slightly, a tear sliding down her cheek.

"It's okay," Frederick said flatly.

Serena glanced at Charlotte, her expression sorrowful. "Am I interrupting you? I know my timing is bad, so I'll leave."

Serena said she would leave, but she didn't mnove at all.

Seeing Serena like this, Charlotte knew she was pretending to be weak to make Frederick feel sorry for her.

Charlotte's face turned pale, the blush completely gone, and she said coldly,"I'm the one who should leave. Why do you pretend?"

She tried to walk past Frederick, but he grabbed her arm.

Frederick looked into her eyes, his voice calm yet tender. "Who said you should leave?"

Serena's smile froze on her face, but since Frederick had spoken, she couldn't argue.

Forcing a smile, Serena walked into the room and said to Charlotte, "That's right, Charlotte. No one is asking you to leave. Don't be so sensitive."

Serena's words made her seem like Frederick's wife and anyone who didn't know might think she was being magnanimous.

Charlotte looked at her coldly. She wasn't as cheeky as Serena. Couldn't compare to Serena.

As the tension between them grew, Frederick, worried that Charlotte might leave, deliberately showed weakness. "My wounds need dressing. I don't want to call a nurse."

Charlotte glanced at his injuries.

The abrasions had scabbed over, but the deeper wounds hadn't healed and were even oozing blood.

Although she felt sorry for Frederick's injuries, she reminded herself that he got injuries because of Serena. Did she have to take care of him?

Charlotte pressed her lips together and didn't move.

Serena stepped forward, opened the medical kit, and prepared to dress Frederick's wounds.

She said to Frederick, "I'll take care of you. There's no need to trouble Ms.Russell. She's already very tired. If you don't let me take care of you, I'll feel bad."

Frederick frowned. He didn't want any other woman touching him, not even Serena.

But seeing Charlotte's lack of reaction, he felt frustrated.

"Fine," Frederick responded, deliberately unbuttoning his shirt in front of both women, revealing his firm muscles.

Serena couldn't help but swallow as she looked at his chest and abs.

Even though her master had satisfied her today, Frederick's incredible physique still made her swoon.

Charlotte rolled her eyes at the two of them.

She could tell Frederick was trying to provoke her, but she found him annoying.

Charlotte wanted to leave, but as she bent down to grab her phone, she accidentally got close to Serena.

Charlotte immediately gagged and retched several times before rushing to the bathroom in a panic.

She vomited several times before stopping.

Frederick had hopped over on one leg and was gently patting her back with his warm hand. "What's wrong? Why did you suddenly throw up?"

Charlotte's mind was on high alert, fearing Frederick might suspect she was pregnant.

Feeling weak from vomiting, Charlotte pointed at Serena by the door and said, "She has a smell on her that makes me feel sick. It's fishy and nauseating."

Charlotte wasn't just using Serena as an excuse. The smell from Serena had indeed made her vomit.

Serena's usual musk perfume was gone, and though she had recently showered, there was still an indescribable odor.

"A fishy smell?" Frederick looked up at Serena.

Serena's face turned pale, and she nervously sniffed herself.

Had she not cleaned herself properly in her rush to shower? Damn Charlotte, she could smell it.

"Charlotte, what do you mean by this? Are you trying to say I'm dirty in front of Frederick? I know you don't like me, but that's no reason to slander me." Serena's tears came quickly.
