Chapter 76
"Hurry up." Frederick sat in the wheelchair, leisurely urging.
Charlotte was pushing him, and as they passed over a threshold, her face turned red with effort, but they were still stuck.
"Easy for you to say. Do you know how heavy you are?" Charlotte gritted her teeth as she spoke.
Moreover, she couldn't understand why Frederick insisted on having her push him to work at the company. He had hired so many strong bodyguards, yet he wanted her, a frail woman, to do this physical labor.
"As a good wife, you should complain less. I'm trying to be a good husband now. Spending more time together to build our relationship, isn't that good?" Frederick shamelessly said.
He didn't feel the slightest bit of shame for being pushed by Charlotte; in fact, he seemed to enjoy it.
On the other hand, Charlotte felt very uncomfortable being watched and scrutinized by everyone along the way.
"Mrs. Percy, let me push him. You take a break." Gavin had received the notice early on, knowing that Frederick would be coming to the company to take charge today. Seeing Charlotte struggling to push Frederick, he immediately stepped forward to help. "Thank you." Charlotte breathed a sigh of relief. She was really tired, even breaking a slight sweat on her back. Frederick's lips tightened, feeling inexplicably uncomfortable. He had always chosen perceptive secretaries, and he didn't believe Gavin hadn't noticed that he wanted Charlotte to push him,yet he still came over.
It seemed Charlotte really could evoke other's sympathy.
"You're at the company now. Can I leave?" Charlotte asked.
Frederick frowned. "No. Come with me to the meeting room. There should be quite a few familiar faces."
Charlotte was a bit puzzled. She rarely participated in business activities,so how could there be any familiar faces?
But as she followed Frederick into the meeting room, she immediately saw a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses. Wasn't it Lucas from EX Company?
Previously, Lucas had set such a big trap for her company that she couldn't forget himn until now.
Frederick let Gavin push him to the main seat in the meeting room.Although he was sitting, his presence was so intimidating that everyone stood up.
"Everyone, have a seat." Frederick smiled lightly, glancing around the room before deliberately fixing his gaze on Lucas.
He was sure he had never met this Lucas, but he had read the files and knew this man was from EX Company. During the time he had lost his memory,he had personally come to trouble Lucas for Charlotte's company. Lucas felt the pressure from Frederick's gaze. He hadn't expected Frederick to actually show up, and with Charlotte in tow. He had thought that with the pillar of the Percy Family fallen, he could sweep away his previous frustrations and make new plans against Charlotte. But he hadn't expected Frederick to be fine.
It seemed the rumors about Frederick being injured by explosives were inaccurate, leaving him with false hopes.
"Today, everyone has gathered at the Percy Group. I wonder,is it out of concern that I might be dead or incapacitated, unable to fulfill my contractual obligations? Or are some hoping for my downfall, seeking to take advantage and gain benefits at the Percy Group in my absence?"
Frederick's voice was calm, but the ruthlessness in his words made everyone present shudder, especially those who had come with ill intentions, all trembling.
They knew that seeing Frederick appear intact meant their opportunistic thoughts needed to be sealed away again.
Most chose to remain silent, but some still took the risk.
A bald man smiled obsequiously at Frederick. "Mr. Percy, we heard you were in trouble and came to check on you. We all wish1 you well. What you said just now is absolutely not true."
"Is that so?" Frederick looked at the man unhurriedly. "Then explain why, upon receiving news of my accídent, the production line at the branch you manage reduced the input of core raw materials to the lowest level? Who were you planning to sell those raw materials to?"Sweat immediately beaded on the bald man's forehead. "If you can't explain, then reflect on it in prison."
Frederick said coldly, without a trace of mercy.
The bald man was instantly terrified, wetting his suit pants, tears and snot mixing together.
His already ugly face looked even more repulsive.
"Mr. Percy! I've worked diligently for the Percy Group for over twenty years! Please, give me another chance! I was just misled this time."
He babbled on, but Frederick had the bodyguards he had summoned take him away.
The chair the bald man had sat on was left with an unknown stain, which Frederick disdainfully glanced at before having it immediately discarded.
Once the man was completely removed, Frederick smiled at the non-Percy Group partners. "Sorry for the scene. Now, let's discuss the matter of someone wanting to terminate their cooperation."
After the earlier incident, Frederick's decisive actions left everyone too scared to breathe.
Charlotte, though not frightened, was impressed by his iron-fisted approach. She hadn't expected Frederick to be so decisive and ruthless in handling company affairs. In comparison, Frederick's demeanor at home seemed almost gentle. Charlotte shook her head helplessly. It was absurd that she could conclude from this comparison that Frederick wasn't so bad to her.
She couldn't understand how Frederick's mind worked. He had only glanced at the secretary's information on the way, yet he remembered everything and blocked all the visitors' paths.
Frederick was like the best wolf king on the prairie, encircling his prey and taking them down one by one.
In just an hour, everyone in the meeting room was dealt with, except for Lucas, whom Frederick deliberately left for last to solve.
Lucas looked around the now empty meeting room, feeling a bit uneasy.
He nervously rubbed his hands, cautiously asking, "MMr. Percy, I have no issues. We have no business dealings. I was just concerned about your health. Now that I see you're well, I'm relieved."
Lucas said, trying to get up and leave.
He was truly afraid of Frederick's ruthlessness. Frederick's performance today was like a thorn in his side.
Frederick's face remained calm, not showing any anger, but even a hint of a smile.
"Mr. Jones, sit down. Don't be in such a hurry to leave." With that, Lucas didn't dare leave.
Lucas nervously asked, "Mr. Percy, what do you want to say? Rest assured,I'll comply." "I just want you to recount what happened the last time I came to see you. " Frederick finished, and Lucas was puzzled.
'Doesn't Frederick know what happened that day? Why does he want me to recount it?'
